Good afternoon all from Withyham, East Sussex. It’s my first day on here properly, I’ve been receiving gransnet emails, useful buying tips (elf blusher, clothes shaver/de bobbler), but feeling a bit loose end ish with husband (64, should know better), out of the house at 5am, not back until 8pm, long working hours this week, leaving me alone with my elderly Staffy for company.
I work as a freelance seamstress from home-husband has turned what used to be the summer house into my sewing room, it’s quite blissful, peaceful. The only noise pollution here is the occasional aeroplane to/from Gatwick, & the occasional vehicle on the lane at the front of the house. But we’re a mile off of any highway, very close to 100 Acre Wood where Winnie the Pooh & Piglet live, & where I still walk, although Daisy my 15 year old Staffy can no longer come with me, which makes me sad. She has very bad arthritis in her back legs & hips, just can’t go for walks anymore.
I’m just feeling a bit lonesome, I think; I’ll stop burbling, & hope someone out there sees me 🙂

Ash, it has been suggested by my consultant, that I take nutrient drinks. The very thought makes me feel ill. Good to hear, you are making progress and they have helped.

Marydoll: I was surprised by how much I liked Complan, especially the banana and vanilla flavours. In hospital, I enjoyed the little bottles of Ensure which I was given a few times a day in between meals, all of which I relished! I can only assume that the sodium and potassium infusions stimulated my appetite.

grandMattie What a great idea! Thank you, I'll look forward to doing that. When I was a child I used to make 'perfume' with rose petals.

sallyforth, you can carefully dry rose petals in the microwave for a lovely pot pourri

Good morning everyone from cloudy Lancashire. Sorry you’re still getting some problems Mick, hope it settles soon.

Yesterday it rained all morning but I was determined to get out. As soon as there was a break in the rain we headed out and managed to enjoy our usual walk to the dock gates before the rain started again. The wind was wild but we dealt with that . I was much refreshed and glad I’d made the effort. I was aware how very much I depend on MrB, I wouldn’t be able to get out without him.

After we got back I started on the final bit of wardrobe decluttering, which I have been putting off until I felt strong enough to tackle it. I have had to get rid of more things that are now far too big for me, on the plus side I found 2 pairs of new and unworn leggings and a tee shirt I’m rather fond of. The leggings will not remain unworn for much longer, I have one pair on now. Just one more shelf to attack this afternoon.

Glad the garden party went well Grammaretto, and the fete was successful Marydoll.

As always, my thoughts are with those dealing with illness and troubles, I hope the day brings you some comfort.

A change of routine, as my chiropodist has changed my appointment to noon today, so my usual morning coffee is postponed until this afternoon. I’m changing my phone to Tesco, so I might do that later.

Good morning Mick and everyone from a bright sunny morning in Cheshire. I'm late this morning as I got waylaid reading a thread in News and Politics.

Earlier I sent an email to a friend to say I was expecting a visit from Frances today, which predictive text changed into a visit from Franciscans today. That would have been a surprise!

I hope it will be warmer today so I can get in the garden. The first task will be sweeping up the many rose petals after the windy weekend. I have three climbing roses in different colours and it's like confetti on the paths.

Enjoy your day whatever your plans. Specially kind thoughts to those with worries.

A surprise invitation to lunch yesterday was a delight and meant that the garden was neglected once more and much talking was done instead. Gardener due today and then a flower club demo this evening so am in a more positive frame of mind than so often after a weekend. Congratulations to Marydoll for her part in such a successful fete, very gratifying.

Good morning from a dry NE but the forecast is for rain from noon onwards.
Really lazy day yesterday, spent most of the day watching TV.
I must make an effort today and try and be more active but constant pain is debilitating.

Morning, high cloud in S Hants, the sun is trying though. Long chat with my son yesterday, he’s been rough for a couple of days, I think it was Covid, still about. I sowed more seeds and dig up the first new potatoes for dinner, delicious.

Good morning, everyone from a cloudy/sunny south coast. Nothing planned apart from gardening but I might make my first gluten free sourdough loaf this afternoon. I just need to make sure the starter is ready because it’s not quite as straightforward as ordinary sourdough.,,I do love a challenge.

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders.
Not raining yet which is good because the chairs and tables which were borrowed and left outside all night, have to be returned this morning.
We were lucky with the weather for our garden party and it went well though it wasn't really warm enough for Summer clothes!

Exercise class this morning and history group this afternoon.

I thought of you when I heard about that amazing tennis final Bellasnanna and hoped you had an uninterrupted view!

Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny 🌞 Northampton, going to be a fine dry day, so I think I might clean the garden furniture; there must be cobwebs and creepy-crawlies galore!

Another quiet day in yesterday, and caught up on lots of tv, mainly music programmes. I watched a Sky Arts film about Jacqueline Du Pre; what a genius talent, lost to us far too young, her young life ruined by MS.
I then watched Gareth Malone's Messiah, which I had recorded while I was on holiday, and then watched the entire performance, which had me in tears. I thought the contralto and baritone soloists were outstanding. it took me back to when I sang Messiah back in my 20s. I then watched another classical concert from Paris, which I enjoyed.

Cooked my mini gammon joint for dinner; enough leftovers for two more meals: ham, egg and chips tonight and a pea and ham soup tomorrow.

No yoga this morning as DS is coming down to set up my new printer - glad I've got dark chocolate biscuits in! I think I shall change the bedding and get it in the washing machine.

RosiesMaw, glad you had a good day at Beckworths! I haven't been since just after DH died. It's the other side of the county, and can't get there by public transport. However we do now have a garden centre 20 minutes walk from me, from the same chain - and they have the same range of clothes!
I think we need another day out in MK, especially with your French holiday coming up......

Good morning all, from a cloudy Glasgow, where it is 11°C, with showers predicted.

Another busy day yesterday. However, I did not go down to church, to help clear up the aftermath of the fête, I was feeling rather weary.

Later, we drove to one of the villages in North Ayrshire for Dollie's dancing display.DD, DIL, DS1 and DS2 were there, as well as a fair number of people I know. My family always find it amusing, that I never fail to meet a familiar face --or more-.in the middle of nowhere!

The dancing school owner is a Scottish TV actor, who firmly believes in making her school accessible to all, talented or not. Her enthusiasm is infectious. It was hilarious watching the toddlers, with a mind of their own.
Both DD and I had tears rolling down our cheeks, we were so proud of Dollie.
No doubt this will be material for *Dollie's excellent impersonations of me. Apparently, she keeps her drama teacher ( a parishioner) entertained by her impression of me, sitting in the conservatory, cup of tea in hand and watching, Turkish love dramas. (Dollie's description, not mine.)

She will be here soon for her usual breakfast of Scotch pancakes. She was not amused the other day, to find out there were no raspberries. The culprit of course was Babydoll, who else?

Down to church to oversee the official counting of the fête money and check through, the unclaimed prizes. I also need to pin down the P,P about the stewarding of the funeral of a local. Dignitary, it will be so busy, the police will be directing traffic.

Whywhy, your sweater was lovely, I know what you mean about those black dog days, hence my constant busyness. It stops me feeling sorry for myself, chronic ill health compounds that shadow, which is always sitting on your shoulder.

Good morning all and we’re back in Essex.

We had such a lovely weekend with our two boys, at our seaside retreat. They worked so hard and enjoyed their time together, gardening and clearing out sheds and taking ‘stuff’ to the tip. Ending up having a competitive game of Boules. A very tight match! 😉. Good humour and fun!
Dh was happy to sit and watch , pottering around and dead heading the roses. It’s so much better for him up there.

The weather was quite kind to us with just a few short showers, until they went to get fish and chips and the heavens opened with hail and thunder. Yesterday was chilly but fine.

So lovely to be back there enjoying the views and the sea air.
Hopefully be back soon 🙏.

DH is still exhibiting signs of covid - rather like a bad cold. So, nothing much happening here today apart from me avoiding DH.

Morning all from a bright looking West Oxfordshire.

After yesterday’s extremely busy day (car Boot Sale selling honey, delicious lunch out and a brilliant Arts Festival), I thought today could be quieter. No. We have our cleaner and gardener this morning. I must do a Waitrose shop as the cupboard is nearly bare. After lunch my friend over the road has her monthly Craft Afternoon. We will make bead pictures.

OH will check on his bees at some point. He introduced a new Queen the other day. I’m relieved that he handed over the swarm he had captured to a friend who had lost his bees.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where the sun hasn’t found its hat yet, but the wind has stopped blowing - hurrah! My son didn’t make it down yesterday; something got in the way, but we had a long chat in the evening. They are going away tomorrow. DD and the menfolk came over for an early lunch which I managed, for once, to time to perfection. They are also going away for a few days this week so I shall have to be extra careful that I don’t need any help while they are all away. Not sure what’s on my agenda today. I may take my camera over to the country park and see what the birds are doing.
