Good morning from a breezy but dry Torbay.

Good luck with the visual field test, Mick.

I hope Iris is making a good recovery and that Grandmabatty’s cataract operation goes well.

This morning, I’m meeting some friends from my Move It or Lose It class for coffee. I’m glad it wasn’t yesterday when we had a very wet morning here causing me to hibernate.

Wishing everyone well. 🦩💐🦩🥰🦩

Pantglas2 Fri 13-Jun-25 05:37:01

Good morning Mick and all from our penultimate day in Antalya to be spent lolling around the 🏊‍♀️ pool!

We’ve had the most marvellous time trying new foods, visiting ruins and waterfalls but I’m always happy to go home to our little 🪺 in north Wales so I’ll put my order in now for some 🌞 there on Sunday whoever is in charge of the weatherbarn 🙏

Not up to speed with all your bizzinesses but wish all with celebrations the best 🥂, 💐 for those with challenges and safe journeys to all travellers x

Bellasnana Fri 13-Jun-25 05:39:46

Good morning from Malta where we have another sunny day with a high of 36°C expected.

Many thanks for all your lovely messages of condolence yesterday. I had a long talk with my eldest nephew. It was he who raised the alarm when his father didn’t answer several calls.

He and his youngest brother then went round and found their father sitting at his desk in the study with his breakfast beside him and newspapers on the floor. Such a shock for them but a mercy to know he went peacefully and in his own home.

He was a retired solicitor so his firm will deal with the legal stuff. No date for the funeral yet but I’m hoping to be able to get there. He was so good to me and my family.

merlotgran my apologies for missing your birthday. I hope you had a lovely day.

Best of luck for the cataract op Grandmabatty🙏🏻

Pantglas enjoy the remainder of your holiday.😎🏖️

I’m off to look after the boys, they certainly are the best tonic when one is feeling sad, such loving little chaps.

They have a Father’s Day event at nursery today so their daddy will be taking them at 11.30.

I’ve got my weekly hair appointment which I sorely need as it’s such humid, sweaty weather.

Thinking of all of you kind ladies who share life’s ups and downs with me. I do appreciate your kindness. Thanks to Mick for this lovely thread.☀️

grandMattie Fri 13-Jun-25 06:02:08

Good morning from a sunny Bristol. It rained most of yesterday, a good wetting rain. Today is to be sunnier.
I had a dreadful irrational shock when I heard about that England bound plane from India, crashing. My DS is flying home today, landing in the mid-afternoon, but it did give me a horrible feeling.
Iris is doing well - no news is good news. I suspect that she’ll be home today. I’ve given her one of those fancy Lego kits which can be a flamingo, axolotl or cockatoo which kept her busy yesterday.
My penultimate Spanish class for the year, then a WI book group this afternoon. I’ll probably see my boy tomorrow or the day after.
All the best to all. Have a good weekend. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

RosesandLilac Fri 13-Jun-25 06:10:50

Good morning from sunny south Glos, it’s 16° already so it’s going to be warm today although (thankfully) nowhere near as warm as where Bellasnana is! I don’t tolerate heat at all nowadays.
We had torrential rain yesterday, bigger dog hates thunderstorms (I didn’t actually hear any) so spent several hours under the table in my art room while I did some watercolour painting.
The scaffolders were dismantling the scaffolding from the house across the road where the chap is building an extension, largely single-handed. He’s done a magnificent job.
They were absolutely drenched but at least it was relatively warm.
I walked both dogs individually later, warm work but I enjoy it. I want to get a pedometer, I’m curious as to just how far I walk.
Today tiddler and I will go out shortly, bigger dog has her dog walker, we’re heading for the village and a shady walk through woodland.
Have a lovely day 🌹

Greyduster Fri 13-Jun-25 06:11:02

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. The sun is up in South Yorkshire. We had about a tablespoonful of rain yesterday afternoon. DD sent some wonderful photos of the Yorkshire
Dales, and the Norber Erratics rock formations which, to my shame I have never heard of but they’re quite a famous geological feature. I hope they get decent weather today as they are climbing Ingleborough.
I had a very long phone call with my old friend in York yesterday evening. She’s an absolute tonic! I’m trying to persuade her to come and stay for a few days. She says she’ll think about it. We don’t see enough of each other.
School volunteering this afternoon. Hope it stays dry enough to walk there and back.
A belated Happy Birthday to Merlotgran.
Have the best day you can, folks.

cornergran Fri 13-Jun-25 06:23:12

Morning Mick, morning All from a bright corner of Somerset.

A rainy morning turned into a sunny and warm afternoon yesterday. Only managed two of my three phone calls, both were draining filled with much distress. I hope to get to the third this afternoon, I’m volunteering this morning which I always enjoy.

Hope the eye surgery goes to plan grandmab.

Safe travels to all on the move. Have the best day you can everyone.

Sallyforth Fri 13-Jun-25 06:24:25

Good morning Mick and all from sunny morning in Cheshire. The strong winds of yesterday have calmed down to a slight breeze. It's definitely a day in the garden, as I have plants to go in and I'll need some more for a colourful summer, so off to the garden centre later.

I'm going to the hairdresser's as it's quite a busy family weekend with people who couldn't attend my sister's funeral last month. There's a meal tomorrow evening. There will be tears, but I'm sure there will be laughter too. It has to be done, and the first of everything is always difficult.

Enjoy your day. Kind thoughts for all with worries. flowers

Grandmabatty Fri 13-Jun-25 06:26:38

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 16° and cloudy. I foresee thundery showers ahead. Ash and Bellasnana thank you for your good wishes. GrandMattie I can understand why you were so upset. I'm heartily glad your son is safe.
Yesterday was a busy day. I stripped the bed and washed the sheets etc and got them hung out early. Emptied and loaded the dishwasher and ran it. I won't use it for a week or so to avoid bending. Then I did an hour in the school library, picked up my repeat prescription and hoovered etc . Tesco delivered a lot of ready meals to go from the fridge to the microwave. In the afternoon I visited a friend for a couple of hours. Back home, I ironed and prepared the house for an easy week.
Today my aunt will take me to hospital for the cataract surgery. I've to be there for eight but could be sitting a while. My daughter will pick me up afterwards. Then enforced rest for at least a week. I hope you all have a good day.

Grandmabatty Fri 13-Jun-25 06:27:12

Thanks Cornergran

glammagran Fri 13-Jun-25 06:28:14

Good morning from Wiltshire. We had very heavy rain yesterday. The garden appreciated it.

I saw another hip consultant on Wednesday as I thought the previous one I’d seen was very rude and dismissive. This one was a lot better. He said the arthritis in my left hip is severe with bone rubbing on bone. He asked me if I took many painkillers and was surprised when I said hardly ever. It was bad in the week following the cruise as I’d walked a lot during it. So I will get a replacement done fairly soon. I’m aware the space in the joint has gone as my left leg is now shorter than my right (noticeable to me).

EkwaNimitee I read recently you should never revive bees with honey as it may contain viruses which can then be transferred to their hive. Only give sugared water. I’ve given honey myself in the past but won’t again.

I’m very sorry to read about your BinL Bella. That’s very sad.
That’s a beautiful photo of Babydoll you posted yesterday Marydoll.
I’m glad Blue and Rosie had a good meetup. The cruise already seems a long time ago.
Best wishes to Grandmabatty for her 2nd cataract op.

Have a good Friday everyone.

Susan56 Fri 13-Jun-25 06:35:50

Good morning from Shropshire where a sunny day is forecast.

Yesterday we had torrential rain so after completing everything on my to do list I spent the afternoon reading.

Today we have to go to Shrewsbury where we have an appointment to have the chip in the windscreen fixed or possibly the windscreen replaced.Afterwards we will collect the children from school. They are staying for the weekend as it’s DD and SIL’s wedding anniversary.

I hope Iris gets home today and that her recovery goes smoothly🦩

Safe travels to Pantglas, mattie’s son and anyone else on the move.

I hope Grandmabatty’s operation is a success and that Marydoll got somewhere chasing up her urgent referral.

Wishing everyone a good day🌻

latedecember1963 Fri 13-Jun-25 06:39:53

Good morning everyone! It's cloudy here in Lancashire. Yesterday's promised storm didn't arrive but a good downpour would freshen the air.
About to have breakfast and pack for a weekend away in Birmingham. We're going to the Gardener's World show tomorrow which is very exciting.
This evening we're meeting our daughter for a meal once she's finished work.
Trying to decide which clothes to pack with the weather being changeable. Going to travel in jeans today. Definitely taking trainers for tomorrow because I know from RHS Tatton there will be lots of walking.

Good luck with the eye op, Grandmabatty. My late MiL had both her's done and it transformed her quality of life.
Wishing you all a good day. 🌻

glammagran Fri 13-Jun-25 06:44:21

I forgot to mention that I hope Iris is discharged today and best wishes for a successful outcome.

karmalady Fri 13-Jun-25 06:44:50

Good morning from soggy s somerset, possible thunderstorms today

Suddenly my large waterbutts are full to the top, I have just noticed a wet wall too, from the diverter hosepipe, it is 6 years old and has become brittle, from uv light I need to replace the hose

A sewing project kept me content yesterday and I may be finishing that today which will complete outfit two for the cold months. I think I am in a sewing mojo and long may it continue

Have a good day

GrannySomerset Fri 13-Jun-25 06:53:07

A bright start and sunshine forecast for today. Oldies’ coffee mir

GrannySomerset Fri 13-Jun-25 06:56:06

Sorry - to continue - Oldies’ coffee morning and what local shopping I can carry as car now not due back till Tuesday. This is a grim realisation of what life will be like when I can’t drive any more and the thought depresses me.

Hope today goes well for everyone.

Redcar Fri 13-Jun-25 07:07:48

Good morning everyone from mid Essex where it’s dry, warm and sunny. Thunderstorm forecast for tonight - oh joy! I don’t like storms, especially when they disturb my sleep!
A lovely day yesterday at my godmother’s 100th birthday lunch, we had a very brief shower early afternoon, but otherwise warm and sunny. Delicious food and lots of people I hadn’t seen since the pandemic!
A quieter day today, my garden is looking good from a distance, my neighbour cut the grass for me and it looks tidy.
grandmattie safe travels for your son and pantglas a safe journey home from Anatalya. glammagran I hope you don’t have to wait too long for the surgery on your hip.
Have the best day possible everyone, I hope it’s not too hot!

baubles Fri 13-Jun-25 07:11:02

Good morning from Glasgow, it’s cloudy and there’s been some rain overnight.

I’m having coffee in bed and will get up and get the packed lunches ready for the younger two. DH will do the school run, three different schools, then the day is ours. I had hoped to sit out and enjoy DD’s garden but it doesn’t look as though the weather will oblige.

Best wishes for your op today grandmabatty.

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

Ladyleftfieldlover Fri 13-Jun-25 07:11:37

Morning all from West Oxfordshire.

I’m off to London again. I’m meeting younger son for lunch then going to the Royal Academy for the Summer Exhibition. It is Buyer’s Day but who knows if I’ll buy anything. I bought two pictures last weekend and I’m running out of wall!

Congratulations to those of you with good news and commiserations to those with less than good news.

luluaugust Fri 13-Jun-25 07:16:20

Good morning from a sunny W Kent. We did get to our favourite garden yesterday and had a lovely wander and light lunch. All the best Grandmabatty, six months on from my op I still enjoy the brightness and colour.
Best wishes to all

BlueSapphire Fri 13-Jun-25 07:27:15

Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny 🌞 Northampton, a nice fine day ahead.

We only had a brief shower yesterday but I still got the towels dry on the line.
Spent the afternoon reading, and finished my book club read; it's.two weeks to our next meeting so I will pick something from my 'to be read' shelf. There is a great pile of books on it.

Dance classes start again this morning after a three week break, so I hope our teacher is kind to us! May go for coffee afterwards with a fellow dancer.

Sweet chilli chicken and rice for dinner tonight.

Wishing all a pleasant day.

brook2704 Fri 13-Jun-25 07:28:28

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s warm with some light grey clouds and a bit windy
That’s understandable gMattie, my heart goes out to everyone lost yesterday but safe travels to your DS and everyone else on the move today
I’ve a volunteering session this morning then a lunchtime dance class at the gym. I much prefer the dance type classes to the faster more energetic ones! I’ll probably pop to DD2s this afternoon and help out with a few jobs
Hoping all goes well today grandmabatty
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Georgesgran Fri 13-Jun-25 07:28:35

Good Morning from a bright, breezy Durham. We are forecast 25 today, but heavy rain tonight.
My burglar alarm is being serviced at 9am, then at 12, I’m off to help DD2 and family get to the airport for their flight to Majorca - no mean feat! Safe journey to them and others on their travels today.

Roses if you’ve an iPhone, you can download a pedometer app.
Hypochondriac friend had her cataracts done with absolutely no problems and was driving in the same week after the 2nd procedure. I was surprised.
I hope everyone’s medical appointments go to plan today.

Best wishes to all. X
