Dinner Plates

Charity shop: our local Sue Ryder and Alabare Emporium always have loads.

I agree MayBee70. Plain white is great. Charity shop, Ikea ebay. The world is your oyster. And then colour and pattern in a table cloth or napkins also charity, Ikea etc etc.

I have ny mothers patterned veg dishes with lids and oval serving platters which have white in the pattern so they go well. Not that I entertain anymore. But in case ever do!!!

I started buying plain white crockery a while back so I could just add to it from charity shops.

Apparently we are all eating more and hence larger dinner plates. Personally i have 9 inch plates bought in IKEA but cant find anymore. Stops us eating too much.

There is a lot of really good quality china on eBay . My late mum bought a beautiful Minton dinner service from eBay and it was much better quality than some of the modern day stuff. Plus it’s a good way of recycling vintage stuff as well

My dinner set has been discontinued for a while so I buy replacements on EBay. The teapot was the last casualty but the lid survived. Good luck.

Ikea used to do smaller plates. I feel your pain because we have the same problem.

eBay, perhaps, or someone on Vinted may be selling some.
It is strange. Years ago, my mom had an assortment of matching plates. I do not know if anyone else remembers, but this is what she said they were for.

I get bits of rice in the spray arms occasionally so always wash those through too.

Clean the filter? I didn’t know you had to either. Where is it on a Bosch Have never noticed any stains, but I’m a great rinser and have always used cleaner regularly.

A couple of years ago I called time on the hand washing malarkey and banished all long stem glasses. White wine drinkers have to put up with short stem in this house. No complaints.

escaped - you are right of course... we are usually red wine drinkers here so wasn't really thinking about white.

Coincidentally I did get some white wine glasses out this week for a nice pecorino!

Stained mugs are easily cleaned. Every so often. Spot of washing up liquid and a some hot water in the mug, a quick rub with a green scrubby before putting them in the dishwasher works a treat!

I agree, NotSpaghetti, stemless wine glasses are useful, but only for red wine that isn't affected by body heat holding round the glass.
Several restaurants I've been to have stainless steel stemless wine glasses to keep white wine and rosé cool - a bit like the stainless steel water bottles people carry.

We now have simple but lovely stemless wine glasses for "everyday" use. We use them for water too.
No trouble putting lots of them in the washer on the top rack.
We have specifically bought dishwasher safe and use the "lead crystal" type just now and again. These are hand wash.
We have no trouble with glasses in the dishwasher and it's nice to have different glassware to choose from.

Lots of the well known makes now do both stemless and the ones that can go in the washer.

We don't put our wine glasses in the dishwasher.

IKEA do 25cm & 26cm dinner plates and they deliver.

I just measured my Corelle plates which are 26 cm. Is this brand available in UK? Nearly impossible to break.

I use pasta dishes from Sainsbury's to eat off. I have to use a spoon and fork to eat my hands shake and due to my disability I drop food down me . I find the pasta dish keeps the food in one place . I have dinner plates I had from Sainsbury's they fit on the bottom shelf of my slimline Bosch dishwasher. Visitors use them .

I had a my fist dishwasher in 2019 and put glasses in but not happy how they came out . Then I had to give them up because I broke most of them. And had plastic ones off Etsy . Which I hand wash .

We don't usually have a problem cleaning cups and mugs in the dishwasher but for some reason a few weeks ago took one mug out and it had a coffee ring around the top. No idea why or how. Stuck a Milton tablet in it and left it for a few hours and the ring came off. Hasn't happened since.

I’ve got Denby (Imperial Blue) too, but it doesn’t meet your requirements OP, the dinner plates are too big, and the next size down, which we call breakfast plates, are too small, neither of them are near 25cm. I think all Denby plates are standard sizes, so whichever range you had it would be the same. On the plus side though, if the did fit your dishwasher, I doubt if your dog would be able to smash them, they are very durable.

I too had the imperial blue. I broke my hand in five places, after that, far too heavy to lift. Sold on eBay for more than I paid originally.

I was running a little low on dinner plates. I didn’t want to pay over the odds and had a look in Asda. I was surprised to see these 25cm dinner plates were just 85p each. Plain white and dishwasher and microwave safe. I bought 4 last week and they were in use over the weekend when the family were here and they’re absolutely fine .

My son didn't even realise you needed to clean the filter out!

He was all for getting a new washer till he cleaned that and then ran a cleaning cycle with a dishwasher cleaner.

My mother-in-law sometimes has stained china.
I think it's because she never runs a full hot cycle as she thinks she only needs a "quick wash" because she rinses everything first.

I put everything in just as it is but do run a full cycle.

I'd definitely try cleaning and running hot first before you look for a replacement

I haven’t. I’ve never really used a dishwasher much. Tend to just use it to put things in when I’ve washed them. Then, if I do put dirty dishes in occasionally I tend to rinse everything first! I hate stains in mugs and scrub them with dish soap most of the time. Wonder if the tablets I use aren’t very good? I do need to start using it more.
