HelterSkelter1
Sparklefizz. We were privileged. Had few possessions but goodness how I enjoyed what I hað and the great times. I still have the single records of the Beatles and Elvis bought in a record shop where they were played in booths. I wouldnt swap my childhood for todays youngsters
Completely agree. My parents were poor as church mice but I had wonderful times playing in the woods, picking primroses, riding an old secondhand bike Dad found for me, charging round on my rollerskates.
Aged 14 and a half, I was legally allowed to work 4 hours, so I got a Saturday job and could buy records with my meagre earnings!!! The simple joy. As you say, listening to half a dozen in a booth, then buying one (or sometimes nothing at all
)
Listening to Radio Luxembourg on Sunday nights to find out what was No. 1 in the charts.
And the clothes!! I bought children's skirts - no VAT on them and they fitted perfectly and were very mini. The joy of saving up for my first pair of knee length boots.
