I think he's wonderful too Sara although it was always George for me. What pleasure those lovely boys gave to the world. My blood boils when I hear people say Paul should stop performing, I feel like saying 'Why should he and what have you given to the world pray?'

I suppose I’ve missed my chance now, but I still think he’s wonderful, I was completely obsessed, madly in love, I was too young to see them, but my walls were plastered with the full page pictures inside Jackie

So I wish him the happiest of birthdays, and many, many more.

My father worked for EMI records and bumped into the Beatles quite a few times in the early day. He always refused to get their autographs for me because "I don't do things like that"

Not only did Paul fund LIPA performing school in Liverpool, but a Linda McCartney treatment centre at the Royal Liverpool Hospital where I had excellent care myself. A good man.

I used to see Lennon in Matthew Street and then when fame struck just after in Liverpool. McCartney’s brother Mike wanted to take me home one night at a club, but I declined 😁

I love Dolly, too. Her concerts are brilliant.

Indeed they are, kittylester, and still touring. I think that it was the foundation that I was thinking of: Dolly, of course, has a legacy of many good things done in her name.

Oh yes that concert was great, especially as we didn't have tickets and a roadie sneaked us in and George came to speak to us through a window. I was in heaven.That's another (long) story in my Beatles escapades.

When I left home, my Dad wanted to keep all my Beatles records as he'd grown to enjoy them - no way was he holding on to them!!

I saw that tour Sparklefizz. By the time it came to Birmingham, The Beatles were co-headlining and closed the show rather than Roy.

I saw The Beatles at Tooting (London) Granada in 1963 aged 15 on a coach trip with the youth club. They were 2nd on the bill supporting Roy Orbison who was top.

It was impossible to hear The Beatles because of all the screaming, but when Roy Orbison came on there was complete silence while he sat on a high stool and just sang.

I went to Heathrow to meet them. There were ten of us from school with our Welcome Home banner on the Queens building and then chasing their car down the tunnel. Happy times.

Ooh me too! We bunked off school which was very daring as it was a very old fashioned strict grammar school. Took our ties off, hitched our skirts up and applied out Max Factor pan stick and Rimmel eye liner on the train.

When it was shown on the news I almost wet myself in case I was on it and my Mum & Dad saw me.

To this day, whenever I see that clip I still get butterflies in my tummy thinking I'm going to be found out

I knew you'd know kitty I say to my DH 'I'm a bit obsessed.'. He rolls his eyes and says 'There's no 'a bit' about it'.

We saw a Beatles Tribute Band called the Beatnix in Darling Harbour years ago. They were brilliant, probably, the most authentic tribute band.

A boyfriend queued for hours for tickets for us to see the Beatles in Birmingham. The noise of the audience was overwhelming and men with batons were walking down the aisles threatening us 😳It was a great evening. I think Dusty Springfield was a supporting act and maybe the chap who sang ‘Rubber Ball’. Happy memories.

Mr McCartney funds a college in Liverpool supporting young people in music and the performing arts. He appears each year for prize-giving.
He is a good man - and still rocking it ( on stage with Bruce Springsteen this month).
I wonder which other musicians will have such longevity and such a legacy?
Maybe just the splendid Dolly Parton!

The Beatles were before my time really as I was a young child but loved their music anyway, tho some songs more than others.
My favourites are The Fool On The Hill, Let It Be , Hey Jude and The Long and Winding Road.Guess I like the ballads the best.

Like the lady on the TV ad says 'Before The Beatles my life was in black and white. After them it was in colour.'

They shaped my childhood, there were the pre 1963 years, a desolate musical wilderness, sorry Elvis fans, I was too young to appreciate the wonder of him back then, I came to later though. Then they arrived, Love Me Do followed by yeah! yeah! yeah!. 7 brief years, but it seemed so much longer back then...and musically how they evolved. They put little old England right at the epicentre of the swinging sixties.
