Ash my daughter used to go to Dance Festivals in Crewe.Do they still have them,do you know?
Also my daughter and I went to Shrewsbury last Autumn,for a couple of days.Neither of us had been before but we really enjoyed it.Cost me a fortune though!! We had a meal at the 'Riverside' and also 'The Loopy Shrew.' I have made a note of the one you mentioned in case we go again.Next week we are off to Chester for a look around.We used to go to a dance festival there too,plus a Speech and drama one once. Looking forward to seeing it again.

Oh and greydusterI have done what you did.Two men in a car used to pick up a work colleague at 4:45 every morning.The they would be there for 45mins while the person was ready.Radio blazing away at top volume.They didn't hear me knocking on the window!! I hadn't even been asleep and boy did I let them have it.I must have looked like the wicked witch of the west as my hair was all over the place.Since then they've been as quiet as a mouse.Sometimes you just don't think of what could happen,do you?

Here we are back at our seaside abode. Left Essex early and was here by 7.30 am.

DS 1 had a quick coffee and toast and off he went. I’m glad he missed the traffic and the heat of the day.

After a few settling In jobs , we’re sitting in the summer house with a sea breeze coming in. Fingers crossed the week will go well for us, 🙏.

I haven’t read any posts yet but I hope you all enjoy the day, whatever it brings. 🌼

*Pant*, do you make lavender “bottles” like my granny did?

Sorry to jump in, but I was delighted to reminded about lavender bottles, which I made when I was a child in Wales with my Nana. You had to pick the lavender at just the right time, or the stalks would be brittle and break, not bend. I used to incorporate a fine lavender ribbon into mine, with a little bow. I occasionally added a little fabric flower.
Such happy memories!

What a wonderful idea the Shrewsbury Ambassadors are Ash. Do other places do that I wonder? And well done to your dancing DGD.
I do feel sorry for you all experiencing the heatwave. Our maximum here has been 21°C, which is quite enough for me, thank you! Today is much cooler after prolonged thunder and lightning during the night. I even heard two of the thunder claps so they must have been loud!
My 'holiday' in Rhodes is now over as DD, NewMan and their blended family returned home in the early hours and the two DGDs travel back up to Scotland tomorrow.
I'm sorry it's been necessary for you to cancel your trip, Mick, but wise I think. Take care.
I hope Marydoll starts to feel better soon, and all others feeling below par.

Good morning everyone from a partly cloudy Northampton, supposed to be cooler. but doesn't feel like it.

Was on the bus to town before 8.30 yesterday morning, and at the opticians before 9. It was lovely and cool walking through town. Picked up my new sunglasses, a very nice gentleman fitted them but there was little to be done as the frames were my original ones, and of course fitted perfectly. Fingers crossed I have no more mishaps when wearing them!

Then visited Waterstones for a book token for DGD2, who will be 15 on 1st July; she is a regular bookworm!
Got the bus and got off at my usual little retail park for a mini shop in M&S Food; treated myself to coffee and an iced bun. Bought a ready roasted half chicken, some of which I had last night with minted and buttered new potatoes.

Was home by mid-day, and did very little the rest of the day, read the Saturday Telegraph cover to cover, did the puzzle pages and then continued with my book.
Spent the evening watching recorded programmes on tv.

No plans for today, more reading and tv I think. May do some washing; two or three loads waiting to be done.

Fab day yesterday, my DD knows a spot where the royal carriages go by, so we had a picnic lunch and waved to the King and Co. on their way to Ascot.
Then met up with my sister from London and had a meal in the evening at the Ivy, she’s very good company.
I turned in earlier and left DD and sister talking into the small hours.
My energy levels falter after a certain amount of activity…

So sorry you had to miss your day out Mick, a warm welcome back Mizuna v good news from Taichinan yesterday, thoughts to the FGTs and all.

We are going fruit picking this morning. Our local place decided not to allow fruit picking any longer, but do it themselves and sell it in their Farm Shop. We had been going there for over 40 years. So, we’ve found a new place in Oxford by the river.

Afterwards we will have lunch at one of our old favourites.

Yesterday started off hot and sunny but was raining by lunchtime and carried on drizzling for most of the day. We had been for our walk earlier.

As always, my thoughts are with those dealing with illness and troubles, I hope the day brings you some comfort and relief.

It was quicker than going downstairs, bringing something upstairs to stand on and shout out of our windows, which only open at the top. The direct approach is better, but no, I didn’t give a lot of thought to the consequences, corner. Foolish!

Distinctly cooler this morning and a great relief though still too warm to sleep comfortably. This afternoon one of our beautiful churches is having a Pimms and Hymns session which will be delightful. I have been offered a lift (still careless) so that is something to look forward to.

Great to hear from Mizuna and sending loving thoughts to Marydoll and all finding life hard.

Morning from as merlot said a sunny S Hants, slightly cooler, yesterday was ouchy hot.
I too have paracetamol on prescription, they just appeared for some reason and there they sit, I think I’ve only cashed it in once in about five years.
That sounds exciting Sar I’ll be following with interest, I enjoyed your last trip thanks.
Yesterday was quiet, too warm to actually do much, hopefully I can get out in the garden today, a few plants to put in and some weeding. We’re also going to top up the water butts up with the hose again, with no significant rain forecast I’m always wary of a ban.

Thank you for all your welcomes! Marydoll, 'our' fruit trees didn't thrive on my shady patio so they have moved to my son's sunny garden. Planted in the ground there they are thriving beautifully!

Good morning from s somerset, cloudy all afternoon and thankfully, more normal temperatures

Yesterday was impossibly hot, especially as I was sucked into doing jobs eg I took my bag of grit out of my car boot and the top split open, result was grit down and around my spare tyre, a horrible mess. It took me a long time to clean up

I was very tired when I went to bed and had to shut the windows as someone was having a very loud party

A relaxing day for me today, anything outside will only involve my garden and bench, I am in process of using ikat pochempally cloth to run up a lightweight dressing gown toile. Bought that direct from India, from a co-operative and it is terribly narrow, I had to cut corners but it will do as a temporary measure, so I can wander in my own garden first thing and in the evening

Our local pharmacy doesn't charge us regulars for paracetamol or ibuprofen unless I order a high dose or fancy packaging.

Dust duly removed I didn’t venture outside yesterday. Minor I know but extreme hayfever symptoms are frustrating me as I love to be outside. It’s a birthday bash for our not so Littlest today in their garden. We’ll negotiate an undoubtedly horribly busy motorway and enjoy seeing everyone, they may not enjoy hearing me!

That was excellent news taichinan. Not so good news from you mick, perhaps time to seek medical advice. Hello mizuna, good to see you back. I’m pleased there was no need to unearth that bag maryd. Time to move into management role and let others do the tasks. Wow greyd, good for you although I’m not sure if that was brave or foolish.

Another one here prescribed paracetamol, offered by a GP years ago as it was so hard to access the 8 a day I need. No harm in asking grandnab.

Thank you for all my birthday wishes, I had a lovely day and we had an enjoyable meal yesterday evening.
This morning we are meeting up with DH'S family on our local beach then we are going to do some work on the boat.
We are hoping to take it to Holland in a few days time. Watch this space.

GMB, my consultant prescribed eight a day ( which I try not to take), combined with other pain relief, they are known to be extremely effective.
However, I would have spent half my week, trying to source them, due to the restrictions on buying them.

Redcar, fortunately I didn't need my hospital bag, which was fortunate, because I didn't have the energy to drag it out of the linen cupboard, which is also my Christmas/ birthday present store!!!

GMB, I go through paracetamol in industrial amounts and consequently get it on prescription, because I wouldn't be able to source the amounts I need. . It is part of my pain management regime along with a controlled drug. Would it be possible to speak to your GP about getting it?

My plan is to do nothing today. This is the feast of Corpus Christi and we have a major celebration. I have made it clear, that I will not be involved. It is difficult to say, No, but it is the correct decision.

I hope you all have a pleasant day. DD has been on holiday, so I'm hoping she and SIL will pop in. They are missed!
It won't be a surprised if I see Babydoll, hopefully DS will look at my PC which I suspect is unrepairable I am bereft, it is an extension of me! 😭 Ever the geek. 😉
