Good morning, it’s a cooler, bright start here in south Glos, I’m about to take the dogs out for a walk.
Yesterday’s weather was so hot and humid, I honestly have little tolerance for heat nowadays. I had a splitting headache by late afternoon despite doing very little other than drink plenty of water. I didn’t sleep well either.
I did spend several hours doing a drawing, which I am very pleased with, I hope to start another today.
It looks like the weather will be cooler for the next few days, I need to do some tidying in the garden so that’s my plan for the week 😊
Have a lovely day 🌹

Bellasnana Sun 22-Jun-25 05:39:45

Good morning from Malta where a sunny day is forecast with a high of 37°C.

Enjoyed my day at home yesterday. Stripped the bed, did my usual cleaning, had a nap then watched the tennis.

Mass this morning then I shall stay indoors out of the heat and will watch the tennis final later.

Sorry you’ve had to cancel your plans Mick, how disappointing. Hope you feel better.

Also sorry to read how unwell Marydoll is at the moment. Hopes and prayers for some relief of symptoms.

Sorry I missed your birthday Sar, hope you had a lovely day.

Taichinan I was very happy to read the news of your son. What joy to know the treatment has done its job. I hope he will continue to do well.

Happy Sunday to all.☀️

Pantglas2 Sun 22-Jun-25 05:48:26

Good morning Mick and Roses - it feels a little cooler after yesterday’s brief showers and the garden is looking greener 🤢. Luckily I’d harvested some more lavender earlier in the week (much to the busy 🐝 🐝 chagrin…) my bed linen smells delightful again!

Belated birthday greetings to Sar 🥂and any other celebrations I may have missed. Sad to see folks with health issues and hope for the return of FGT with some good news on that front 🤞

I shall trot for a newspaper shortly and a pleasant day will be spent at PG Towers counting blessings, for there are many 🤗

grandMattie Sun 22-Jun-25 05:51:48

Good morning from a still warm Bristol. It’s overcast, but if we have a teeny bit of rain it’ll be tonight.
I must admit to having frozen my hot water bottle, which helps enormously with my rubbish sleeping. At least the maxima won’t be as high today…. I really don’t know how you cope, Bellasnana, the heat would drive me to my grave.
Taichi, your news is fabulous. How wonderful and reassuring for the whole family. Any news of FGT and Co.?
Yesterday’s coffee morning didn’t take place in the other room, and two of us had swapped with someone, so I elected to give serving a miss for a change!
Just sat around all afternoon, reading, sewing, tv.
Just church today, then probably some sewing, reading, tv.
Have a blessed Sunday. Special thoughts and prayers for our MD.
Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

grandMattie Sun 22-Jun-25 05:53:07

Pant, do you make lavender “bottles” like my granny did?

Greyduster Sun 22-Jun-25 05:56:59

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a sunny South Yorkshire. Sorry you’ve had to cancel your plans Mick, but sensible. Take it easy. It was unbearably hot last night when I went to bed but I managed to fall asleep only to be rudely awakened at quarter to one by four teenagers standing outside my house having a very loud conversation. Three were arguing and the other one was shouting into his phone. I was so angry at being woken up that I went downstairs, marched down the drive and tore them off a proper strip. They were so shocked at having some apoplectic old baggage in a dressing gown jumping up and down poking her finger in their faces that they apologised and slunk off! Could I get back to sleep? Of course I couldn’t!
I’m going to IKEA this morning with DD. Why? I don’t know. It seemed like a good idea when I said yes.
Have the best day you can folks.

Pantglas2 Sun 22-Jun-25 06:03:47

I don’t grandMattie but have just googled them! Aren’t they lovely! I might give it a go next summer as I’ve pretty much depleted the bees smorgasbord now!

Funnily I remembered sitting with my grandmother making muslin bags (mine are voile cheapies from Spain) ever summer and I was allowed to take one home to keep under my pillow!

Ashcombe Sun 22-Jun-25 06:21:16

Good morning from a sunny start in Crewe.

Yesterday we had an enjoyable few hours in Shrewsbury with lunch at a quaint little Italian restaurant called La Laterna where we were lucky to have the last available table.

Later, my DSiL collected us to travel to the Mitchell Arts Centre in Hanley to watch Fink Theatre Academy’s dance show. DGD danced superbly in several numbers besides helping to lead the littlies who melted hearts! We’re going again today to sell raffle tickets and programmes at the final performance.

Wonderful news about your DGS, Taichinan!
Belated birthday wishes to Sar53.

A blessed Sunday to you all. 🦩🥰✝️💐🦩

harrigran Sun 22-Jun-25 06:44:10

Good morning from a dry and bright NE, it is a little cooler this morning.
DS and both GDs visited yesterday, we had a very pleasant catch up.
After dinner the weather changed and we could hear a storm approaching, it never got directly overhead but we did get some welcome rain.
I wore earplugs last night because the forecast was for more thunder, if it did I didn't hear it.
SIL is coming this afternoon, we will do some odd jobs and then cook dinner.
Belated birthday wishes Sar.
Thinking of Marydoll and FGT.
Have an enjoyable Sunday.

baubles Sun 22-Jun-25 06:44:18

Good morning from sunny South Lanarkshire.

Mass later this morning then after I’ve helped with the counting of the collections DH and I will drop over to DD’s house. They’re going away this week and we will give the children some pocket money for their holiday.

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

brook2704 Sun 22-Jun-25 06:52:38

Good morning everyone from Inverness where we’ve had some light overnight rain, more rain due later today
Such lovely news yesterday Taichinan so pleased for your DGS and family
Yesterday turned out busier than planned as I went into town to meet DD2, but today should be quieter
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Aldom Sun 22-Jun-25 06:53:10

Good morning Ashcombe glad you enjoyed your few hours in Shrewsbury. I know the hidden Italian restaurant where you had lunch. My late husband was the Resident Minister at the large church in the square, just before you come to the restaurant. He was Shrewsbury's Town Centre Chaplain.
Happy days. smile

Georgesgran Sun 22-Jun-25 06:55:42

Good Morning from a blue sky Durham. I did very little yesterday, then just as I was about to take out Little Dog, the heavens opened with thunder and lightening thrown in. Sadly, it didn’t clear the air at all and the dog got his walk just before dark. It was so close and humid.
A disturbed night - heat and acid reflux and I’m unable to open the windows too far, because of the birds - I need to order those magnetic screen things.
DD2 and family arrive back home early afternoon, time to be confirmed and I’m doing the pick up malarkey from the airport using her car.
Dog walk later, just before dusk.
A shame you are missing your excursion Mick. I hope you’ve mentioned your weight loss to your medical team.

Best wishes to all. X

Mizuna Sun 22-Jun-25 07:00:59

Good morning from a blissfully cloudy Cornwall! Although I've been absent I've read your posts from time to time and have been with you through the ups and downs. If the clouds remain I'll venture to my allotment which is my happy place during these warm days as it's surrounded by trees. A fish and two shrimps have mysteriously appeared in my pond there! 😁

Here's St Ives in all its glory last week, when I took the train there.

Susan56 Sun 22-Jun-25 07:05:33

Good morning from Shropshire.A lot cooler today which is a relief.

We have free electricity this morning so lots of laundry.I don’t think we will save much!

This afternoon is the 225th anniversary of our church. We will be going to the service at 3pm followed by afternoon tea.

Hoping Marydoll is starting to feel better and thoughts with all with mountains to climb.

Wishing everyone a good day🌻🦩

Redcar Sun 22-Jun-25 07:10:49

Good morning from mid Essex, where it’s sunny and a pleasant 19 degrees at the moment. It’s breezy so I have lots of windows open. Didn’t do much yesterday as I found the heat quite oppressive. I did start to cut back one of my shrubs, but a friend called round and I was very pleased to stop gardening for a chat indoors, where it was marginally cooler.
DD1 and family will come for a snack lunch, in between swimming and horse riding lessons for the DGDs. DD2 and family will be travelling back from Disney Paris today.
taichinan that’s excellent news about your DGS, I hope his phased return to work goes well.
ash another successful dance show for your DGD! Enjoy your stay with family.
Have the best possible day everyone, healing thoughts to all those suffering from health problems and anxieties. I hope md feels better and hasn’t needed her hospital bag. Best wishes to the fgts.

Grandmabatty Sun 22-Jun-25 07:13:16

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 16° and sunny with scattered clouds. Ash what a lovely coincidence between your restaurant and Aldom ! Pantglas my lavender isn't fully out yet- much further north than you. I should do something with it too. Greyduster it must have been very annoying for you, but your telling of it made me smile.
Yesterday was a day for reading. I did get towels and a hoodie washed and hung out. In the afternoon we had a very light rain shower but generally it was cooler with a fresh breeze.
I had a very bad night's sleep. My feet and legs were so painful and I have run out of paracetamol. It's very annoying as I'm usually well stocked for most things. I think today I'll walk to Aldi to pick up a new supply. I half expect a visit from DD and the boys. They were on a sleepover at the other grandparents who stay fairly close by. I hope DD does come round as I'm missing human contact. Dinner is as yet a mystery. I'll see what is in the freezer or buy a small gammon joint from Aldi. Have a good day all.

Grandmabatty Sun 22-Jun-25 07:15:42

Mizuna how lovely to hear from you!

Grammaretto Sun 22-Jun-25 07:22:47

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders.
A cooler night though I sleep with my windows wide open for a through breeze.
The Summer fair at Tiphereth was fabulous. Afterwards I went to the theatre matinée and missed a heavy
shower.
Such a long day, I weeded the potato patch and finished trimming some pottery bowls.

Good to see you back Mizuna. I've missed your Cornish posts.

I was so pleased to hear about your DGS Taichinan.

Thinking of Marydoll and FGT and all with pain and worry.

Enjoy the day everyone.

ginny Sun 22-Jun-25 07:28:25

Good morning from sunny N. Bucks.
Tiachinan pleased about your DGS

I’ll be busy this morning making Millionaires shortbread and a Lasagne for tomorrow .
DH will be back from his reunion just after lunch. Art or craft for me this afternoon.
DD 2 will be calling in for a cuppa and to collect her food which has been stored in my freezer whist her new kitchen was installed.
HopeMick feels better soon and that Marydoll finds some ease.
Wishing all a good day with a smile along the way.

Ashcombe Sun 22-Jun-25 07:34:34

Grandmabatty

Mizuna how lovely to hear from you!

“And so say all of us…”

What a coincidence, Aldom! St. Alkmund's Church was nearby. We would never have found it had I not researched restaurants there beforehand. We were impressed to be greeted outside the station by the Shrewsbury Ambassadors, volunteers who supply maps and advice to tourists.

whywhywhy Sun 22-Jun-25 07:37:09

Good morning from a sunny but cooler midlands.
An anxious day yesterday and felt tearful.
My eldest son’s birthday today. Hugs to all suffering.

kittylester Sun 22-Jun-25 07:43:45

Good morning all from a hot and sticky North Leicestershire.

My choir is singing at our annual village street market at lunch time but I think that will be the only activity I will undertake.

Sending healing vibes to everyone who is not well and wishing a good day for all.

EkwaNimitee Sun 22-Jun-25 07:49:00

Good morning Mick and everyone from currently sunny and slightly cooler Carlisle.
Sorry you can't go on your trip Mick but probably a wise decision. Another who wonders if you have discussed your weight loss with the docs?

Yesterday I went out early for a walk through the park to collect the paper and a few necessities from the convenience store. All very peaceful, just me and a very few dog walkers and exercisers.
I spent the rest of the day doing not much...just too hot even to sit out in the shade. I did manage to wash all my floor mats and take advantage of the weather and I did mow the front lawn so not quite so idle!

Today threatens to be as hot before long. The thunderstorm we had at bedtime has not cleared the air for long, the plus is that I now don't need to water the garden for a day or two.
I shall just potter around doing the odd job, maybe make some bread and definitely finish off the paper and its puzzles.

Lovely to see you back Mizuna, I hope we continue to see more of you.

And I wish all of you the best possible day.
