I enjoyed your post this morning (Glammagran) , it reminded me of the time that my mum and I had visited Marks and Spencer’s in Weymouth leaving DH and my father in charge of two year DD. We came back to find them searching for her! .. I can still almost feel my stomach falling through the floor. I suppose it wasn’t really long before a lady appeared leading DD up and down the beach, but it felt like years!!!

You are right Weymouth beach is a beautiful fine sandy one, but I still haven’t quite forgiven it for the experience. DD 1 was not at all worried by the experience and actually has just arrived today for a holiday here in Portugal with us so it hasn’t put her off sandy beaches either.

A child getting lost isn’t easily forgotten. My 3 year old disappeared in British Home Stores one Christmas. Panic stations!! He was eventually found inside an unopened square checkout devouring a box of liqueur chocolates.

A late Good Day to everyone, we’ve had a comparatively cool and very cloudy couple of days, very welcome, but today the weather has changed, the clouds have cleared, the temps have shot up and it’s very hot.🥵

Good morning from Wiltshire. Overcast but warm.

We had a lovely break in Weymouth with DD2 and family in a pretty Airbnb very centrally located. It was very well equipped but we didn’t cook. I’d never been before so I was quite surprised by the fine sand on the vast beach. Saturday was hot but unfortunately, on Sunday it was rather overcast, got colder as the morning went on but the wind became really gusty so we went back to the cottage. The GCs thoroughly enjoyed the amusement arcade (I didn’t!) which judging by the time spent in there cost a fortune. I didn’t enjoy being woken by the seagulls kicking off from 3am though. After an hour it sounded like someone shot an air rifle to scare them off but within half an hour they’d returned. They were a menace on the beach. DH lost part of his sandwich but DGD (6) ate hers with her head covered in a towel which worked very well.

On Monday we went to the Abbotsbury sub-tropical gardens which were delightful. We spent a couple of hours there.

I'm sat here at my kitchen table scoffing Savoutsmiths Somerset Cheddar and Shallot crisps and a mug of PG Tips killing myself laughing!

In various ghostly encounters in my house over the years I've never been able to catch any of them doing their lovely hauntings.... until now!

I crashed out of bed about 1:15am to make up a hot water bottle, the kettle was rumbling away, I'd removed the knob from the bottle and put it beside it waiting for the kettle when all of a sudden I physically saw the knob fly off the worktop and clatter to the floor! It wasn't on the edge and was stood upright so it didn't just drop off!

I creased up laughing and told the ghostie that was a brilliant way of getting my attention! I told it it can jump in to bed with me and we can snuggle the bottle together!

Then about 4:30am I was woken by my favourite little singing bird outside chirping WOO-BEE WOO-BEE! I don't know what sort of bird but he's got the most gorgeous little squeaky voice!

Good morning everyone from a cloudy but thankfully not windy south coast. I’ve been helping my neighbour start her car - flat battery but luckily I have a starter pack. I’m glad I was dressed when she knocked on the door!
Classical Music group this afternoon but I don’t think it will be very good as quite a few are on holiday.

Good morning everyone from a brightish Northampton, better sunny spells expected this afternoon.
Am later this morning; although I slept til 6.30ish, I decided to doze on and slept again till 8.30.

Had a good health walk again yesterday, a good number turned out, about 20 of us.
Cut the back grass when I got home - well I did half of it, then realised that the top half of the lawn didn't really need it.
So pulled out some wretched saplings that keep growing - we used to have a massive ash tree in the back garden and its offspring are still making themselves known. Did a bit of pruning and weeding, tied back a tall rose in danger of being blown over and did some watering. Also mended the watering can.

DS has just messaged me to say that DGD1 is starting driving lessons this week - and as I offered to go halves with the cost I suppose he would like me to transfer some money! They have booked a block of six. Doesn't seem five minutes since she was a babe in arms!

Must get one or two household jobs done this morning, empty bins, deal with the cats' litter tray. Then early lunch and out to Book club.

It's DGS 18th birthday today.
He's having quite a year. I'll see him tomorrow for a family lunch. I hope my card arrived.

A smart meter is being installed today. After yarn group, I hope.
It's my young Helpers last day before he flies to Pisa. He'll notice a difference in the temperature.

Oh MD you even manage to make DH deafness amusing 😄

Good morning from an overcast north of Scotland. The washing went out at 7.30 I was pleased with myself until I turned round and spotted stalks! A rabbit has eaten the flowers and buds off everything. No discrimination whatsoever. Grrr.
Apart from that a good day with no appointments only a prescription to collect. Also going to the dump and have persuaded my DH to come and do the heavy lifting, then I will treat him to coffee in the new cafe next door.
I don’t post often but read daily and follow all your ups and downs. Best wishes to all.

Still waiting for news of when my car will be returned so every plan is hedged about with doubt as I wait for a phone call. It’s beyond frustrating for many reasons and very bad for my blood pressure.

The warm dry weather continues so will need to water the pots later, but we are definitely having a summer.

Good morning everyone from grey Lancashire.

Yesterday I once again spent the day going through heaps of documents, sorting them into keep, bin and shred. I am preparing for a review with my financial adviser and it’s making my poor brain very weary. It has to be done though so I press on. Today I have an appointment at the optician, I need new glasses which will doubtless cost an arm and a leg but should make life easier.

As always, my thoughts are with those dealing with illness and troubles, I hope the day brings you some comfort and relief.

Good Morning from a cool, cloudy Durham.
I’m meeting a friend for coffee/lunch in M&S today. She is still debating installing a utility room in her garage - it’s been going on for months and she’s no nearer making a decision!
Little Dog will go home later, after DGS2’s swimming lesson. He’s been here 2 weeks and I know I’ll miss our evening walks, but I’m pleased he’s going.
Mick can you mention your recent poor health episode at your Surgery later?
You put me to shame with your sorting Marydoll. Mine has come to a complete standstill, but I’m blaming the dog! I’ll make an effort to get back on track after he’s gone.

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 14° and cloudy. Karma I'm a fan of Patrick Grant. I have read Esme's autobiography and quite enjoyed it. I can't sew for toffee though. Susan I hope the hospital appointment goes well.
Yesterday I did very little. I started a mini cross stitch kit and enjoyed doing it although my eyesight isn't great at close quarters yet. The cheap reading glasses from Amazon are working after a fashion but I need better ones. I had one delivery of felt pens yesterday and another one due today of sketch pads, both for the boys. Dgs2's missing lunchbox at nursery was found at nursery. They reckon he planked it and he has form for that!
Today I'm going out for a coffee with a friend who is picking me up this afternoon. The change of scenery will do me good. Have a good day all

Good morning from s somerset, sunny today

Traffic will be building for Glastonbury so I am cancelling my planned cycle ride today, walking will be safer. Anyway the hollyhocks are blooming and I can enjoy their magnificent flower spikes

I did a bit of this and a bit of that yesterday, now reminding myself that I need to do a run to recycling today. It was hard to settle yesterday so I made myself content with small projects and I even prepped my stove for summer. Cleaning the glass is so easy with wood ash. I made a mess of the hem of a top, difficult fabric and I could not get it straight so I binned it plus two more fabrics from my stash, I am not liking thin viscose crepe, the thicker crepe is nice but the thin stuff is rubbish.

I have an event this weekend, a full two days of an online sewing weekender, lots of talks and demos by people such as Patrick Grant. I am looking forward to it a lot and being preserved as videos, I can start and stop when I like

My allotment is immaculate, only one bindweed to dig out yesterday. It will be a forever battle as my neighbour has bindweed next to me, still it has distinctive leaves and is easy to spot

Today will depend on my mood, fortunately I woke up with more energy, which the heat sapped yesterday

Good morning from a sunny Essex coast. The air-conditioning is on already.
DH had some worrying news yesterday about his eyes. He needs more treatment so I think taking the boat to Holland is on the back burner at the moment.
I have to wait in for a delivery this morning but I have plenty to be getting on with.
I've almost finished my latest book so I must look out the next one from my very extensive TBR pile.

Good morning Mick and everyone from brightish Carlisle. Another day of a bit of sun, lots of cloud and a few showers I expect, like yesterday and the day before and....etc!

Yesterday morning involved cleaning the bathrooms and pottering at various little jobs. After lunch, I risked the showers and went for a walk. It was quiet in the park except on the Pond where the birds were busy out on the water. I had a close encounter with a heron doing a spot of fishing and with the little cygnets at one end, busy keeping the grass down.

Today, ironing and a tidy up in the kitchen and then out in the garden I hope. In between, boring admin beckons. I'm hoping for better weather so I can get out for some longer walks in the countryside but it won't be this week as I'm tied to home the rest of the week waiting in for deliveries and the plumber.

DDs 1 &2 just messaged to say they had arrived safely in Cyprus.
Scones to make for a cream tea at craft club, our last meeting before the summer break..We will also be making a couple of cards.

Good morning from a cloudy W Kent. My outing with DGD2 went well, she dived in and out all the small shops and I had fun shopping with someone 60 years younger. Her mum is off for a hospital appointment this morning.
Today a DF is coming round for coffee she has just had her 80th birthday with her huge family so I imagine lots of pictures to be viewed

GG, we have an outlet an hour away from us, but it means motorway driving, which can no longer do and my hints to DH are falling on deaf ears.😒
A few days ago, I received an email, offering me access to a private sale.
I was immediately seduced, for I had already been lusting after them!
I have done a lot of thinking recently about my failing health and mortality and decided, if I can no longer travel to my beloved Rome, and come back with a suitcase, full of beautiful shoes and boots, why shouldn't Itreat myself now and again to shoes I don't need?
I am so materialistic and shallow! 😉

Morning a Mick , morning All from a cloudy corner of Somerset. Looks like the wind has dropped.

All change yesterday. We were not too far from home and stuck in a traffic queue when a call came from the eye hospital, clinic cancelled as the doctor had called in sick. The very pleasant person rebooked me in two weeks at a much better time so no real harm done. I felt for her as she sounded quite anxious, I imagine some folk had given her ears a beating. Not her fault for sure.

Wonder if this mornings appointment at our local hospital will follow the trend. To be honest I’d not mind if it did. I’m very unsure about it and have underlying anxiety rumbling away. Lunch has been booked as a reward for bravery (!).

Good morning from mid Essex, a lovely sunny morning. We had a brief shower yesterday morning, which left a few puddles but dried up quickly. Still had to water the plants in pots in the evening.
I’ll cut back some of the spring flowering shrubs today, now that they’ve finished flowering, then will potter around indoors.
