I'm about to turn 60 and I feel quite like you. I absolutely adore a good debate (as some may or may not have seen, LOL!).
However, when it comes to what I like to call "flat-liners", those who absolutely are not telling you their opinion because they want to share in the information and learn more.
There are also people who are open to looking at as much factually based information sources as possible, when it comes to a very important decision or opinion.
In this type of situation, it's an absolute no-no for me, personally. Why waste your energy? Why waste your breath? If you know this person is not going to participate in an open dialogue, then what is the point, really?
This quote comes to mind, though I know it sounds a bit edgy; "Don't cast your pearls before swine." But you get what I mean.
