I've just come out of the public loo where I absolutely shot through the roof with fright!

I was in the cubicle, turned around to flush and there was a great big 8-legged beast dangling on a web on the right corner!

I screamed, ran out, not bothering to wash my hands!

PLEASE, someone, get rid of it!

There were hundreds driving to check yesterday. The Ebay Queen went to check, she is fragile enought ( her husband's transplant has been postponed yet again) and was in a terrible state.
Many of us have family buried there.

Morning all from a nicely warming up Kent. Forecast of 29C today. I shall be indoors ! As a redhead from Glasgow, avoid sitting out in the hot part of the day. I got sunstroke when I was 10 in Troon, never again. I will be busy today for a change as I got a request for a proofreading project over the weekend. 20k words of a biography which sounds fascinating.
Yesterday was busy too. A friend, two of her (adult) children who both have ADHD and one of their friends came for a picnic in the garden. They got here at 16.30 and left at 21.30! I enjoyed having them but ,my goodness, it was very noisy. All of them shouting over each other, competing to be loudest. My poor DH who has two hearing aids was bombarded. I’m feeling very tired this morning as all the effort to pay attention, not move my head too much and walk around was exhausting. I have a vestibular problem and by 21.30 I was definitely staggering. I had to grasp DH to avoid falling over more than once. I also have polymyalgia rheumatica so that’s flaring this morning too. Once I have my mind on he proofreading, hopefully I will forget all the health issues.
Marydoll I heard about the issue at the cemetery from two different sources yesterday. My dad and grandparents are there. My aunt was visiting as it is the anniversary for some of them at this time. I am quite shocked. Don’t suppose there is CCTV nearby. I can’t believe the wickedness of some people.
Time for a cuppa, fire up the computer and dive into the life of a Victorian grandmother with quite a story to tell. Have a cool day everyone!

The holiday will give you something to look forward to Marydoll. It was very muggy last night and difficult to sleep but thank goodness here in Scotland the temperatures are not as high as further south. Elder granddaughter is 16yrs today how did that happen? In my eyes she is still a wee girl but here in Scotland she could be getting married, what a thought! Thinking of all those struggling one way or another.

Good morning, Mick and all. It is warm and sunny here in coastal West Sussex. We are supposed to be getting a new boiler installed today - a combi, replacing a 18 year old trad type. Unfortunately we did not know that our shower will not work with a combi and we would have to replace it plus re-tile. We have now decided to stick with traditional boiler and have the very old hot water storage tank replaced with a more efficient one. Why is nothing ever simple 😨

Yesterday we caught up with DD3 and family, at DGD’s Beaver pack summer fair. DGD (6) was recently enrolled and is very excited about being a Beaver. DD hopes she will stick with it - her sister has a history of starting things but going off them after a few weeks or sometimes months. She has an autism diagnosis since last autumn.

Good morning from a sunny NE.
DD and SIL came yesterday and we sat in the garden for a couple of hours then had dinner with a very pleasant bottle of Sancerre rose.
My neighbour put a note through the door, her DH'S funeral is on Friday, not sure I will make it.
DS coming today after dropping GD off at the theatre.
My sister says she is going to ring for a chat, I hope not as she is coming to visit anyway.
I am running out of time to do my holiday preparations. DS says my suitcase is too big for the car so will need to pare down my clothes.

Good morning from a dull northwest coast.
Still quiet here after my holiday. I practised my songs yesterday and was rusty after the break, also some art. Not much to report as I’m still decluttering slowly and this afternoon DSon will come over on his motorbike (wish he would get a car…) for our annual meeting with the financial advisor. It will be interesting to see how the land lies money wise.

DGD is 17 in August and as you say in a years time maybe leaving home. It hardly seems no time at all since my DD her Mum, left for Liverpool University. But that was 1997!

Yesterday I was feeling a bit better. It was warm and sunny so we took a walk down to the dock gates. Last night was hot and muggy so I didn’t sleep too well.

Still hot but there is an end in sight and we will be complaining about cold and wet soon enough. Dental check and hygienist this morning, gardener this afternoon, but shall move slowly and try to keep the house cool.

Good morning Mick and all from a cloudy morning in Cheshire. I've had the fan on all night and think that's why I've slept in this morning. I hate sleeping late it takes ages for me to waken fully.

I'm going to try a new showerhead in a minute to see whether it works. It has water softening balls in the handle, and I'm hoping my hair won't be a frizzy mess any longer.

I did a lot of work in the garden yesterday, so I think I'll just relax and enjoy it today.

Nannyjan53 my DGD1 has also started to look at Universities. Her and her Dad went to Brighton and St Mary's last week and will visit Roehampton and Winchester later this year. It doesn't seem possible that she will be 17 in a few weeks and leaving home next year.

Good morning everyone from a partially cloudy Northampton. Yesterday seemed to be cloudy all day; I had a cool walk to the paper shop and back, where I paid a large bill; have paid to the end of July, so am in credit for a while.

Made my tea bread when I got back, just had to add an egg and flour to the soaked fruit and pop in the oven. It looked good after baking - have cut it in half; half is now in the freezer and the rest is for tomorrow when I have a neighbour coming for coffee.

It was cool enough to be out in the garden yesterday, so did a bit of tidying up and watering. Noticed that the birdbath had sprung a leak, so found a large plant pot shallow saucer which fits in the bath for a makeshift repair.

Had both patio doors open for the first time for ages, then found that I couldn't close them properly - panic! No matter how I tried one door would just not close, but I have managed to partially lock them. There is a door/window company just down the road which I've heard good reports of, so I will call them and see.if they will come out.

A bit of tidying and dust removal this morning, then wrap DGD2's birthday presents in readiness for our family meal out tonight, an Italian restaurant I understand. She will be 15 tomorrow.

Hope we all manage to stay cool today.

Good morning from a sunny W Kent where we await the cleaner I hope she can manage in this heat, plenty of drinks a must. I shall do some ironing as early as I can and if yesterday is anything to go by sleep a bit. It’s lovely to go away but it really takes it out of us now. Stay cool

Good morning Mick and everyone from a Carlisle of sun and cloud and it's not boiling hot here, thank goodness.
Yesterday was a lovely sunny day where we reached 22°C.
I went for an early walk in the park after breakfast, hardly anyone about except for me and one or two early dog walkers and runners. I was amused to see many of the mallards were having a Sunday lie-in, dozing on the Pond verges.
I was in the garden after my mid-morning coffee, mostly to pick more blackcurrants plus a few redcurrants which I had for dessert at dinner.
Your garden must be similar in style in parts to mine karma. I did away with the supplied back lawn, mulched the ground with bark and planted into it. This is a much smaller garden than I've ever had and I'm a plants person so wanted to cram as many plants in as possible. It's also low maintenance, no weekly mowing of grass here except for my little front lawn.
I hope to be out in it today, I have chopped down the over-vigorous golden privet and now have to remove the roots, it had got quite out of scale with everything else and needed constant clipping. A pity though because I liked it. You have to be ruthless in a little garden.

I have to go out soon, to the surgery so the nurse can check my ears are clear of wax before my visit to Audiology next week. They will be.
I sent my aids back for a minor repair a little while ago and got a note back with them to say they were now obsolete and I needed a hearing test. That's good service from the NHS.

I hope the heat will be bearable for those of you getting it, rather you than me!

Good morning. It’s looking a bit brighter and the forcast is similar to the weather yesterday. Around non the sun appeared and we had a lovely sunny afternoon
We set out for Pembroke but a number of roads were closed so we ended up in Saumdersfot and Manobier.
Today we will be heading to St. David’s a maube fit in a boat trip around Ramsey island.

Good morning everyone, I like the sound of Lithuania, grandMattie. I love a place with history.
I've had a quietish weekend.
Today we're having some 'repair' decorating by our front door following a leak last year. We are going to have the whole hall, stairs and landing done eventually but this will at least make it look less unsightly and tide us over for now.

This morning's excitement includes the ironing; not my favourite job!

Yesterday I started knitting a scarf with some gorgeous wool I got ages ago.
Over the weekend I finished a 1500 piece jigsaw puzzle for our upcoming Jigsaw Festival. It was a vintage puzzle, made in West Germany. Very 1970s in style, but good fun to do.

Good morning everyone. It’s been so gusty for a long time but yesterday was very still. Hard to sleep last night as it was so hot upstairs.

DGS2 was very good on Thursday not having been to us for a while. He didn’t want to go out but we did go to Tesco where he wanted bagels (hate those) with jam and peanut butter. 🤢 At the checkout we found a pack of seedless grapes he’d snuck in. Late afternoon he watered the garden which he managed with ease. He also overheard me saying to DH that farm animals had died in France after a fierce storm with tennis ball sized hailstones and 75mph winds and asked lots of questions.

GrandMattie we went to Lithuania about 8 years ago. My mother who died in 2015 said my father (whom I never met) was from there when it was still in the Soviet Union.
The old part of the city is lovely but if you walk over the river you can see all the old soviet style apartment blocks. Anyway, last year I had my DNA tested. It showed I’m not English at all which surprised me but 38% French (mother), 34% Scottish and Irish (grandparents) 16% Greek(??) and the rest Turkish. But definitely no Russian. I trusted the dna result was accurate as my 2nd cousin was named as a relative even though I myself gave no information about anyone. Plus a few Greeks from Crete and Corfu.
