Good morning from a sunny Vilnius.
Yesterday was gorgeous, spoiled only by a vicious 40mph wind in the middle of the day.
DS and I spent most of the day in the Grand Ducal palace, reconstructed at the end of 1900s. It contained a fascinating and irresistible history of the Grand Dukes (only ever had one king) from 1300s onwards. I hadn’t realised how close they had been to the Poles, sharing rulers for several centuries.
After a Lithuanian lunch, we then proceeded to wander around the old town, including the sad, sad ghetto, various churches, both catholic and Orthodox.
We also went to the self-proclaimed (pretentious) artists’ republic, with at least 24 published rules, on3 of which made me laugh. “3. You are allowed to die, but it is optional!”lost in translation, methinks.
Today, we’re off to Kaunas for another couple of days.
Keep safe in today’s heat🥵. Carpe diem🦩🦩🦩🦩

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 18° and cloudy. Last night was quite uncomfortable. GrandMattie safe journey to the next stage of your trip.
Yesterday I nipped to Tesco to pick up stuff Aldi doesn't stock, then filled up the car with petrol. At lunchtime DD arrived with the boys who were happy to see me, as I was, them. My house soon descended into chaos 😂. They stayed for a few hours then went home. Dgs2 was most unhappy to leave but quickly got over his temper. Dgs1 had to have a chat with a couple of my neighbours before getting in the car.
Today is early childcare day and the start of the school holidays. I might take them to soft play this morning, especially if the weather is wet. Then back to my house. Dd will pick them up later. Have a good day all

Good morning! A beautiful sunrise here earlier but it’s high clouds now here in south Glos.
It sounds like you’re having a lovely time in Lithuania grandMattie, a country that I know nothing about, I must have a Google later.
Yesterday was hot, thankfully the house is beautifully cool. I finished crocheting a small baby blanket, not sure what I will do with it! Today I’ll continue with a bigger one I started a while back.
We had hoards of young starlings on the feeders yesterday, they’re voracious! I counted 43 at one point, very noisy too.
We also have young blue tits, robins, woodpeckers, sparrows and coal tits, the feeders are being filled daily at the moment. The starlings enjoy bathing under the pond fountain, love watching them.
Just off for our early dog walk, it’s going to be too hot to do much today but I will do more to my watercolour painting.
The window cleaner is coming first thing, I will do the inside when I get back from my walks.
Take care everyone 🌹

Good morning from a warm but misty Torbay.

It sounds like Vilnius is a fascinating place, grandMattie. Safe journey to Kaunas.

Early Lidl shop is planned before DH has a dental appointment for a complex (=expensive!) filling whilst I have the car washed before my exercise class.

Hope this week is kind to everyone including absent friends from Gransnet of which there are a few. 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩

Morning, warm already, patio doors open. What an interesting trip gMattie enjoy the next few days of your adventure.
Yesterday after a little weeding, the inevitable watering and meat draw in the pub we had a mini bbq.
Today I’m back on on the voluntary phone, quiz later, chiller unit is set up downstairs.
FGT 👋

Good morning from the Essex coast where it is already warm. A bad night for me and DH. I've left him in bed trying to sleep.
Washing and club admin this morning, probably a walk down to the sea at some stage.
DD1 and S arrived in Amsterdam yesterday afternoon. S coped well with the airport and flight. They went out for a walk and some dinner and DD1 said S loved it there. They may meet up with a Dutch cousin today.
Have a good day everyone, best wishes to all xx

Bellasnana Mon 30-Jun-25 06:20:51

Good morning from Malta where it’s already hot and getting hotter. 38°C later.

I forgot to post yesterday as I went for an early coffee with a friend followed by Mass and then a long FaceTime chat with my pal in Leicester by which time it was afternoon!

I’m at the boys but they are still asleep as is DD3! School term is over but she has to go in to clear the classroom etc but is clearly going in a bit later.

DGS2 has a hospital appointment later to check on his progress after surgery (he has healed beautifully), so I expect I shall be left with DGS1. I don’t mind but I do want to watch Wimbledon if I possibly can.

Sounds like an interesting holiday you are having grandMattie. Hope today is enjoyable as well.

Wishing a good day to all.☀️

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from an already warm and sunny South Yorkshire. I really hate this weather. It’s getting tedious now. We need some rain. Sorry!
Yesterday I drove out early, to avoid the worst of cyclists and bikers, through the Hope Valley to Castleton to visit DS and DiL in their new (to them) motorhome. Very swish! They were doing a garden trail in the afternoon but unfortunately I had to get back home. It was good to see them, though. DD and the menfolk came in the afternoon for a curry lunch and when the weather cooled down, we sat outside and made plans for our upcoming holiday. I have a feeling it’s going to be anything but restful!! GS has the bit between his teeth!
A quiet day today. I’ll go to the gym at some point but that will be my only activity.
Have the best day you can, folks.

Good morning from a balmy Cornwall. Spent hours at the Uni library yesterday surrounded by books on sewing and design. I was completely alone. Glorious. Then a lovely meal with my son and eldest grandson in Wetherspoons, just across the road from my flat.

Today I'm planning a full day on my allotment if the heat isn't too bad. Otherwise I'll come home and watch the tennis.

Grammaretto Mon 30-Jun-25 06:45:03

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. I'm awaiting a lift to the eye pavilion. Luckily my alarm went off as it had taken most of the night to get to sleep.

We had a couple from Lithuania/Poland as lodgers. All I know is that they speak different
languages hence they spoke to each other in English. Since Brexit, they are desperate to move back.

It's warm here and the gulls have blocked one route out.

DD sent a video from their holiday in the North West. DGD is squealing with delight. "I didn't know we had dolphins in Scotland!"
Well we do.

Have a great day everyone. Keep hydrated.

NanKate Mon 30-Jun-25 06:49:39

Good morning Mick and All from a rapidly heating up South Bucks.

Will be visiting the Nationwide and Sainsbury’s as soon as. I can get there then back to shelter at home from the blistering heat.

I will be watching Wimbledon and wonder how the players and spectators are going to cope in this weather.

Kalu Mon 30-Jun-25 06:55:31

Good morning all. A blustery start to the day in Glasgow with some rain and a high of 23deg.

Yesterday was a perfectly calm sunny day which I took advantage of enjoying a day in the garden foutering about starting with my kick start espresso al fresco, likewise, lunch.

In thoroughly enjoyed watching Outrageous about the infamous Mitford sisters, when that finished, Hotel Portofino followed, set again in the decadent era of the 30/40s. I will watch this tonight.

I hope DD1 and S enjoy their stay in Amsterdam Sar. It’s a lovely city.

Best wishes to all for a good day.

karmalady Mon 30-Jun-25 07:01:20

Good morning from s somerset, what can I say except hot today

Yesterday was such a calm and lovely day here, I arrived back from my cycle ride at 10 and was happy with myself, my muscles were still working. I wore a buff around my mouth and nose, have done ever since a bumble bee went into my throat and stung me and I could feel something bashing into the buff yesterday. I ride with my mouth open so am a trap for flies

I pottered with sewing all day, cutting patterns, physical sewing and watching the sewing weekender videos. Same today but no cycle ride.

I did the basic watering at 6.30 and decided to take a garden photo, I did not make a lawn, just these plants with stepping stones and soon the echinaceas will pop their colours too

Jaxjacky Mon 30-Jun-25 07:05:57

My best wishes for today Grammaretto

Grandmabatty Mon 30-Jun-25 07:09:59

Good luck today Grammaretto. Remember no bending or lifting!

Susan56 Mon 30-Jun-25 07:12:56

Good morning from Shropshire.A high of 28 today🥵

I will get the days chores out of the way then hide in the coolest room and read.

Hope we see FGT back very soon.

Wishing everyone the best day possible🦩🌻

Susan56 Mon 30-Jun-25 07:13:23

Hope all goes well today Grammaretto🙏🏻

cornergran Mon 30-Jun-25 07:15:00

Morning Mick, morning All from a sunny corner of Somerset. A beautiful start to the day.

A catching up day for me yesterday while Mr C surprised me by focussing on exercises for his foot and wonder of wonders continued to take paracetamol, all without being reminded.

We both sat in the garden late evening watching the bats circle, I find them very relaxing and slept well.

It’s Chi-Mi this afternoon, I’ll go but not so sure about Mr C although he could sit for much of it he’d feel awkward doing so. We may head for the sea front around 5 for a while, it will have quietened and hopefully cooled down.

Have the best day you can everyone.

cornergran Mon 30-Jun-25 07:16:56

Good luck grammaretto. Wishing you well.

Hmm grandmab grin.

brook2704 Mon 30-Jun-25 07:22:53

Good morning everyone from Inverness, a cloudy and warm start to the day
Hoping all goes well today Grammaretto
Your holiday sounds so interesting gMattie, safe onward travels
Yesterday I enjoyed a quiet day spent mostly outside in the garden, today it’s back to the gym and housework to get on with
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Gingster Mon 30-Jun-25 07:24:32

Good morning and we’re back in Essex.
DS2 picked us up from our seaside cottage and brought us back here last evening. I’m so grateful to our boys. 🙏.
He will stay today , wfh, . We have our financial advisor coming this evening and ds1 will join us to sort out all our various finances.
DS2 will stay over again and leave early tomorrow morning.

I’m missing the sea already, but it’s nice to be back to our usual routine and I’ll see friends and family. Dh likes his SKY TV so he can watch all his sport.

Very pretty garden Karma
I’m glad S coped with the airport and flight ok Sar. She’ll enjoy Amsterdam with her mum.

We’ll watch Wimbledon today but I do feel for the players (and spectators) in this dreadful heat. I really dislike it 🥵.

I must shop later as we’re low on essentials (ice lollies).

Take care everyone and try to keep cool.😎🆒🪭

NannyJan53 Mon 30-Jun-25 07:25:36

Good morning from a bright and hot Black Country.

Yesterday was cloudy all day but very warm and muggy. Went for a walk round the park with my friend, then a cold drink in the cafe. Then a walk into town for lunch. We went to the Soffio Lounge (quite a few of these lounges in the country) and had their tasty Budda Bowl for lunch.

I don't think I will go on the walk this morning. May go to line dancing this afternoon, as they have fans all over the place!

DGD2 is starting to go to University Open Days. She visited Loughborough at the weekend. Plymouth, Swansea and Nottingham on are the list too. Hard to believe that this time next year she will have completed A Levels, and be thinking off leaving home all being well with results.

Sounds like you are enjoying Vilnius gM it is a fascinating place.

Wishing you all the best day possible. Stay cool everyone.

Gingster Mon 30-Jun-25 07:27:48

35 degrees predicted here, Susan.😩

GrannyGravy13 Mon 30-Jun-25 07:27:52

Good morning from a glorious S E Essex.

Gym and a coffee and catch up first thing.

Pop into butchers for something for dinner, then it’s feeding the washing machine before school pickup.

Hopefully I will find time to read in the garden in between
