Good morning from a very warm and clammy midlands. Not much sleep.

Happy birthday Bellasnana.

Knitting group this afternoon might have to be missed. It’s just too hot to knit. 🧶

Not doing much today. Sad really, because it’s my daughter’s birthday but we’ve been estranged for ages.

Hugs to all suffering in one way or another.

Good morning everyone from Inverness, it’s a warm sunny start to the day
A very Happy Birthday Bellas enjoy your special day! 💐🎂🥂
I’m going to the gym for a couple of classes, aerobics and line dancing. NannyJan - I’ve only recently started the line dancing so still getting to grips with it and remembering to turn the right way! In between the two classes there’s time for a coffee and a chat with a couple of ladies - that’s the best bit
Beautiful flowers Kalu thanks for the picture and hope the garden project goes well
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

GrannySomerset Tue 01-Jul-25 07:34:11

Another night of little sleep but life should be more comfortable by the end of the week, though for how long? Bed changing and Wonderful Cleaner plus the chiropodist will fill the morning, tennis the afternoon as I am lethargic in the heat and am taking life slowly. Doubt if I am alone in this.

whywhywhy Tue 01-Jul-25 07:36:22

Hugs to Marydoll
I hope you feel better soon.

Good morning from s somerset, hot again today

I hope there is some cloud this morning. Yesterday was so very hot, I had to change my clothes twice and I know I did not drink enough, just pottering in the house yesterday, my body cooling mechanism was working overtime. I did wear a viscose crepe long caftan, to start, it did not help so is going to the bin

One young rowan tree went crispy, no leaves on it to use water, probably dead. I am glad to have dual aspect windows in my bedroom and downstairs, I can create some semblance of air flow with strategically based fans but only when the outside is cooler than inside

Everything I did yesterday was to do with sewing, I do enjoy planning with patterns, so I did. I am stash busting with an end point in mind, changing my wardrobe to all linen over time. Hence I am using my viscoses fabrics as wearable toiles, they are horribly slippery to cut and I don`t like wearing viscose anyway

Same stash busting with my `high end` quilting fabrics, the good ones are like poplins and are often used for clothing, with structure. I had a 5m narrow length, dashwood make and pale green pattern, now cut out for a vintage-style dress with fitted bodice plus a top. I also cut a 3m length of viscose for a lyn caftan toile

Bargain offers are coming in wrt high end fabrics, last few days I have ordered 6 lengths of dress weight 100% linen, beautiful colours to suit me. I mean a 40% reduction. 6 in and 6 unwanteds out from stash , used as toiles or given to the cs or made into temporary dresses

I will get changed in a mo, out for a town walk, followed by testing my new angry mule sumatra coffee beans and then a nice peaceful day to follow

Have a good day

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 12° but feels much warmer. A still morning with some cloud. Bellasnana a happy birthday to you. Susan very happy anniversary to you both. Enjoy your lunch.
Yesterday was busy with the boys. Soft play which wasn't as busy as I feared. We only stayed an hour as dgs1 had a headache. We spent some time in the garden but it was too warm to be out much. We did walk to the swing park at the end of the road for a bit. And chatted to neighbours too. Dgs1 is extremely sociable. My ankles have swollen and I was quite uncomfortable so I didn't do a huge amount after they left.
Today they are being dropped off later and I'm having them overnight. Dd and Dsil are going to a wedding. The boys are ridiculously excited about staying overnight. It's funny and sweet. I won't be worth a button by bedtime and I suspect I'll be in bed at the same time as they will. Lots of drawing ahead and playing football (dgs1) and drawing and playing with the sandpit, my shoes and trains(dgs2). Have a good day all

A quick good morning from a warm and sunny south coast. I’m dashing off to the allotment to get the watering done while hopefully there is some water pressure!
Hope you all have a good day.
Stay cool! 😎

harrigran Tue 01-Jul-25 08:01:13

Good morning from an overcast NE.
Slept surprisingly well despite the heat, I just slept on the mattress with the duvet off.
DS came yesterday evening after dropping GD and her schoolfriends off at the theatre where they were going to see Hamilton. They are all budding west end stars and sang the songs in the car 😂
We had an easy meal of several Chinese dishes and lots of cold drinks. DS fell asleep after dinner, not surprising because he had been working from home and it was 28 degrees.
GD1 took herself off to university to clear her flat and move herself and new housemates into the house they have for next term.
Washing and ironing today and looking for holiday clothes, where to start ? I have seven wardrobes.
I believe my sister will visit today, she is insisting she sees me before I go on holiday, she is here for six weeks.
Happy Birthday Bellasnana

Good morning all from a sticky North Leicestershire. Hopefully cooler later.

Admin today, so I'll hide in the cool dining with my laptop.

My friend's funeral was a lovely occasion and attended by around 200 people - so crowded and sticky too.

hollysteers Tue 01-Jul-25 08:12:41

Good morning from Cloudy Chambers northwest coast.
Yesterday saw the gutters cleaned, my DSon came over for the annual meeting with our financial advisor. With the miracles of technology, my flying DD joined us from Los Angeles and her input was invaluable. I’m not gifted in the number department, so enjoy the support. Fingers crossed, all seems ok there.

DS fixed my specs and cooked a large mixed grill, as we used to call it. I have practised too much all at once since my holiday and will not sing this morning before music club this afternoon, when I think I will be in charge. I hope my newly memorised song will stick…
Birthday greetings Bellasnana and thoughts to all🌺

cornergran Tue 01-Jul-25 08:14:52

Morning Mick, morning All from a disappointingly cloudy corner of Somerset.

A very happy birthday bellasnanna. Enjoy every minute. Anniversary wishes Susan. Lunch sounds an excellent plan, hope all goes well for M and H (H&M feels like advertising).

Go gently marydoll. I’m sorry you’re struggling so much. Hope grammaretto is doing OK.

Did much of our Chi-Mi class seated yesterday then headed to the sea front for an hour in a very welcome breeze. Wonderful.

Not sure how today will unfold. We’ll drift out later, Mr C is best not to walk too far, we’ll enjoy some lunch and see how we feel. I need to get some information emailed regarding a complaint so will do that after my morning BP report to the surgery. Perhaps process something laundry. Or maybe not!

Have the best day you can everyone.

Gingster Tue 01-Jul-25 08:17:00

Good morning all and just one more day (🙏) of this heat , and the temperatures will come down a bit.

Yesterday ds2 was here working from home with lots of breaks to watch the tennis. It really was a superb match . They must have been exhausted ! 🥵.

Our meeting with the financial advisor with both sons in attendance was fruitful if very confusing (for me, anyway).DH’s concentration and memory isn’t good so he struggled. 🤯.

Today I’ll walk little pooch over the fields and keep to the shady parts. She needs a bit of a run off lead.

I’m looking forward to my Bridge club this afternoon, as I’ve missed a couple of weeks.

Happy birthday * Bellasnanna*. Enjoy your day with the boys and Wimbledon.

Take care all 🌼🪭😎

NanKate Tue 01-Jul-25 08:18:44

Morning Mick and All from a baking South Bucks, well it will be in a few hours.

A very Happy Birthday Bellasnana.💐 Hope you get some time to watch the Tennis 🎾🎾

It’s my WI this afternoon. I’m taking a 98 year old and a neighbour with walking difficulties. Hope I get them there and back in this awful heat. ☀️☀️

Happy Birthday Bellas 🎂 and Happy Anniversary Susan 🥂 enjoy your special days.
Yesterday the voluntary phones not too wasn’t too busy, it was a very warm day, we were juggling blinds and windows open/closed. I did sleep well though after we just missed being placed at quiz, my fault.

Good morning from the Essex coast. Another hot day is forecast then I believe it will be cooler tomorrow.
We have to visit the bank today and then a mammoth shop for toiletries ready for DH'S long adventure in Holland. I will be joining him for a couple of weeks in August.
DD1 and S are off to see Anne Frank's house today, yesterday they visited the Resistance Museum. Some lovely mother and daughter memories.
Happy Birthday Bella and a Happy Anniversary to Susan and her DH.
Enjoy today and stay safe, best wishes to all xx

Good morning everyone from another bright and sunny 🌞 🌞 day in Northampton, should be a bit cooler than yesterday.

I spent the early part of yesterday morning slightly re-organising the sitting room; moved my large camphorwood chest into the study (which meant moving things round in there as well!), and put the cat climbing-tree into the space freed up in the bay window. It has made the room look bigger and lighter. And the study looks tidier as well.

I rang a window/door company to come and sort out my patio doors which I had open on Sunday, and then was unable.to close and lock again properly. They promised to come before 6.30pm, but did not turn up.
Luckily all was sorted when DD and her husband came to pick me up, and DS-in-law fixed it; apparently one door had 'dropped', and just needed lifting slightly - I had tried that on Sunday, but it was too heavy for me.

Then it was out to the Italian restaurant for DGD2's birthday dinner, and a good time was had by all. Eight of us as DGD1's boyfriend came as well. Cannot believe she is 15 today. I had gone down to their house to take care of DGD1 while she was being born, and I got to hold her when she was a few hours old.

Another lazy day ahead - a neighbour is coming for coffee this morning then it will be another afternoon of reading. Too hot to do anything else. When I went to bed last night the thermostat upstairs was reading 30°C.

Happy birthday 🎂🍾 Bellasnana! I wish I was 69 again! Have a lovely day, and enjoy the tennis!

Wishing all a pleasant restful day.

GrannyIvy Tue 01-Jul-25 08:37:25

Good morning from Cambridgeshire where oh goodness what a hot sticky night! However I do so love this weather and the long lovely evenings enjoying my garden.
It will be another hot one here today before temperatures drop again.
We will go out on our bikes this morning cycling through lots of shady areas and then relax and enjoy the garden. I do have school pick up today and early evening babysitting duties before meeting the neighbour girls for our monthly book/wine evening.

Happy Birthday to Bellasnana and Happy Anniversary to Susan. Do hope Marydoll you have some improvement soon.

Wishing everyone a very good day

Grammaretto Tue 01-Jul-25 08:51:03

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. We aren't having a heatwave. It's going to be around 20 degrees which is just right. Further north, DD is holidaying it has rained every day so far. They don't mind.

Happy birthday Bella. enjoy your day. At least Alcaraz made it through in that heat.

Happy anniversary Susan wine

I had my 2nd cataract operation yesterday and it went well. It is a miracle procedure. One friend delivered me, another picked me up and a third is bringing us a picnic lunch today.. Thanks for your good wishes.

Here should be my view from the hospital waiting room where I sat for 4 hours. Also my peonies Kalu snap.

Have a good day everyone and keep cool.
