Good morning Mick and followers, it’s cloudy here in south Glos too, cooler thankfully. We badly need rain too.
I’m looking forward to the weather being cooler, I honestly don’t enjoy the heat one bit although I’m very fortunate that the house generally stays cool. The towels on the line baked rigid yesterday!
Tiddler had a bath yesterday, she’s a grubby little pickle who loves rolling in anything 😳, luckily she’s small enough to put in the bath. Bigger dog rarely rolls a round on walks.
Bigger dog has her six monthly routine vet check this morning, not looking forward to taking her because she hates the car…. DH says he’s busy this morning so can’t help.
Will take them out for a walk shortly, yesterday’s was muggy although we were out just after 6am.

Best wishes to you all 🌹

Not really my place to comment but I will say that I am very glad I am not married to your husband! Is he always mean to you?

Good morning everyone from the East Midlands.
Baby sweetcorn coming-on & it's loving all the rain were having here at the mo. I love my garden so much it's my little piece of heaven on earth 🌞🌧🌈

Good morning from South Lanarkshire where we’ve just had a torrential downpour.

Those are beautiful dogs Kalu, I can just imagine DD’s chocolate lab with them, they would make a fine trio.

Yesterday was fairly busy. My charity shop shift was slightly marred by the fact that the other volunteer on with me is the most work shy person I’ve ever met. I really don’t know why she bothers as all she wants to do is sit behind the till eating sweets and playing games on her phone. I find it so annoying but it’s not my problem to deal with.

Yarn group last night was a hoot as several of us tried to figure out how many crochet squares we need to re cover our cone shaped metal Christmas tree. Even after looking up ‘how to work out the surface area of a cone’ we came up with several different answers. We may just have to dig out the old one and count the squares.

I don’t suppose we will do much today if this rain keeps up but will just see where the day takes us.

Best wishes to all for a good day.

I saw the clouds merlotgran they skirted us heading for you, not a drop.

They must have felt sorry for me, Jax My rain dance is not a pretty sight! 😂

Good morning everyone from cloudy Lancashire.

I’m still following doctor’s advice and drinking lots of water. I am feeling better but not convinced “symptom management” is the appropriate response! We shall see. We had our usual walk down to the Dock gates and I expect we will be doing the same today.

Thinking of our poorly Grans and families, as always.

Have the best day you can everyone 🌹

Good morning everyone from a very grey and cloudy Northampton; its much cooler this morning thank goodness.

The world was set to rights yesterday morning when my neighbour came for coffee and my home-made cake - she took two slices home for her husband.

I did very little after lunch except read and surf my Kindle tablet, it was too hot for anything else!

Out from late morning today - a ballet friend is hosting a cream tea for our dancing groups so that we can see her newly renovated bungalow - she and her husband have spent months working on it, (they also had builders in for ages), and they recently thankfully moved in.

Enjoy the cooler weather today everyone, and have a good day.

Good morning. It seems to be brightening here , I can see sunshine trying to peek through. It seems that this part of Wales has in general missed out on the really lovely weather so far.
Yesterday we had a dull morning and a wet afternoon so. we visited the National Wool museum and the Coracle Museum, both very interesting.
Not yet sure what we are doing today .
Hope all appointments, human and animal go well and thoughts with all who have worries and struggles. Wishing all a good day.

Marydoll Wed 02-Jul-25 08:22:25

Good morning all from Glasgow, where it is 13°C, with rain forecast.
When I asked Alexa for the weather last night, she said a flood warning had been issued for here. Really? We are still awaiting the heatwave, many of you are complaining about.

Yesterday, I just pottered. I had a notion for baking coconut hazardous. I made extra, because the family love them too. They looked wonderful, until I eagerly tasted one. I had forgotten the sugar! 🤣

I did manage an hour in the garden, but that was enough. I tire so easily. To make up for the disappointment of the coconut cake, I picked some strawberries and made a tart.
I felt like Barbara from the Good Life.😉

GM, your trip sounds exhausting! Safe journey home.
The inlaws next door come home today. I hope all is well, I was supposed to check the house for them, however the key wouldn't work!

Not much happening today. I will go down to Mass and retrieve the front door key from the post box. The counters couldn't get out on Monday and had to use the presbytery, house key to get out, because the lady with the key didn't turn up.
The duty sacristan had locked them in,😱

I had checked the calendar to see when my next hair cut was due. I couldn't find it, which is unlike me. On checking, I discovered it is today.
I had planned to wash it this morning, but that saves me having to do it. I find hair washing such a faff.

Tomorrow, I have BHF uplift, so far, I have seven bags, but I hope to do a little more today. It has been quite cathartic!
I have got rid of beautiful shoes, ( my addiction) which I can no longer bear to wear, summer stuff, I drag out each year and never wear, and lots of stuff, I have been keeping, just in case.

Why, why why, I could knit complicated patterns, but never mastered crochet. I always admire Baubles projects.

Belated anniversary wishes to Susan, and Bella, can your DD not take the boys, if school is finished? I think you need a rest, I don't know how you manage. 💐

Have a good day folks.

Good morning from an overcast S E Essex it is only 19° reaching 23°, my mood definitely mirrors the colour of the sky, I hope the clouds clear to reveal blue soon.

Gym this morning, I should go to the farm shop for get some inspiration for dinner.

Safe journey grandMattie

Hope your dog is ok Bellasnanna and that you haven’t got another summer cold.

GrannyIvy Wed 02-Jul-25 08:11:27

Good morning from a cloudy cooler Cambridgeshire. Yesterday was another very hot one here. We enjoyed an early morning 10 mile cycle ride along our favourite route stopping for a coffee by the river. I collected the little ones from school and then the 11 year old had a visit to her new school she is starting at in September so I looked after the little monkey who has decided he wants to learn how to play chess. At 6 years he is picking it up well. I gave him dinner bathed him and played snakes and ladders until DD2 and DGD returned. It was then book club in the evening and a welcome glass of wine.
Today it has to be washing housework and ironing!
Have a good day everyone. Thinking of those absent and hoping to hear from them again very soon on this thread.

GrannySomerset Wed 02-Jul-25 08:08:03

Significantly cooler this morning and very welcome it is; wonder how long it will be before we are complaining about grey skies and rain-spoiled outdoor events? Singing this afternoon, our last practice before Friday’s concert. My turn to drive after being car-less for over a month so normal life has been resumed at last.

Thoughts with the poorly, the worried and the travellers as well as Marydoll and FGT.

merlotgran Wed 02-Jul-25 08:06:24

Good morning, everyone from the south coast where it’s raining at last. DD and DGD are coming for dinner this evening so I’m relieved I won’t be dashing off to water the allotment and can enjoy preparing and cooking (not to mention cleaning) without feeling pushed for time.
I’m enjoying TIB for the first time in ages so will now read all your posts.
Hope you all have a good day.

Grammaretto Wed 02-Jul-25 08:01:49

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. A grey day.
Apart from 2 nice visitors for lunch, I watched tennis and had a lazy day yesterday. I'm trying to get into a routine with the eye drops. Sadly I don't think I should attempt the annual U3A coastal walk tomorrow incase I damage my new lens.
I have also booked an agent to look at my wee flat for letting again. I miss not having a lodger.

Hollysteers that's just the kind of mistake I make when booking on line. I try to phone if possible to get
better seats.
How clever to set up a bird table and camera Sallyforth.
Great holiday stories gMattie!

I get sent videos of the DGC and the dog yes paddle boarding on a northern Loch.

Have a good day everyone. 😊

NannyJan53 Wed 02-Jul-25 07:56:25

Good morning from a cloudy and much cooler Black Country.

Had a lovely lunch meet up with Aunt, and cousin. She has recently finished Cancer treatment, and is now looking forward to a holiday next week with her Mum. Advised not to fly abroad at the moment though.

No real plans today, may pop to Merry Hill to look for shoes to go with a new dress, as we have a couple of parties this month. DGD1 is 21, and MrJ's twins are 30!

Not seen Monk08 for a while, hope she is ok.

Wishing you all the best day possible

cornergran Wed 02-Jul-25 07:43:29

Morning Mick, morning All from a cool, cloudy corner of Somerset.

After a thoroughly enjoyable lunch in our favourite spot we were off for a very short stroll and a longer sit by a marina. Mr C is being careful with his foot which seems to be improving. Not much sun about yesterday here, little forecast today but who knows. It’s getting windy again. Nothing really planned for today other than receiving the grocery delivery, there will be something g to keep me busy.

That sounds an interesting holiday grandmattie, Wishing you a trouble free trip home. 🤞 for your dog bellasnanna and that yours decides the car is fun roses .

Thinking of all with worries. Have the best day you can everyone.

Georgesgran Wed 02-Jul-25 07:43:14

Good Morning from a still, overcast Durham. It started to rain late last night, steady, but gentle and there are some puddles left in places. Much needed for the gardens and to add to water butts.
The estate road is closed again today, so up and out early to move my car elsewhere, as I’ve an early appointment for my annual blood tests, etc at the surgery - not looking forward to the weigh in!
Going to watch DGS2 swimming later, with a view to taking him next week, as his parents can’t, so I need to remind myself of the routine.
Hope your dog isn’t too poorly Bellasnana such a worry,
Safe travels to those on the move and kind thoughts for those feeling below par.

Best wishes to all. X

EkwaNimitee Wed 02-Jul-25 07:35:06

Good morning Mick and everyone from Carlisle. Another grey day here and we may have more rain.
Yesterday morning was quite pleasant. After a cleaning set to in the kitchen and bathrooms, I got out to mow the front lawn and deadhead the rose border. Just as well, after lunch the skies darkened and it was rather heavy rain for the afternoon. I wasn't too sorry, it's saved me from watering the bedding plants.
Today I'm nipping into town shortly to top up my fresh veg and fruit supplies and to offload more books in the charity shop. Decluttering has almost ceased on other fronts though, a trawl through paperwork continued yesterday afternoon but achieved little in the way of getting rid of anything.
After lunch I hope to finally get the golden privet below ground level and then make sure it can't re-sprout, it's a vigorous beast.

Have the best day possible everyone.

hollysteers Wed 02-Jul-25 07:32:34

Good morning from a brightening northwest coast.
Really enjoyed getting back to the music club yesterday, remembered the words to my wordy song too.

Earlier, spent ages on the phone to my bank. My card is declined every now and then for no reason, so they have sorted that out and I did a silly thing, I booked a seat for a local show, choosing a seat near the back. I thought it was near the front. This shows that multitasking doesn’t work as I was booking it whilst on the phone to the bank. I’ve been advised to go along on the night and speak to a certain person to see what can be done. It’s pretty full.

This is the first week I have had my legs ‘out’ (with some fake tan) and I love this weather. Today the usual lunchtime recital and a meet up with fellow music club member for coffee. He’s a great talker so will hardly get a word in. Good company though.
Glad you enjoyed your trip GM. It’s nice to go away and nice to come home. Hope you too had a good time Susan and thoughts to all🌺

brook2704 Wed 02-Jul-25 07:22:02

Good morning everyone from Inverness where we’ve light grey cloud and it looks very still, some rain for later maybe
Safe journey gMattie and to everyone else on the move today
Some housework to do this morning and then I’ve an eye clinic check up this afternoon. Hope your appt goes ok too kitty Afterwards we’ll go for a coffee somewhere and do a bit of shopping
Have a lovely day with the boys grandmabatty
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Redcar Wed 02-Jul-25 07:19:53

Good morning everyone. It’s cloudy, cool and damp here in mid Essex. I hope we’ll get a few showers this morning, the water barrels are nearly empty. I didn’t sleep well last night, the house was too hot, even with lots of windows open. Fingers crossed it will be cooler today.
mizuna your eldest son is very adventurous! bellasnana I hope that there’s nothing seriously wrong with your dog and that he can have his vaccinations.
I hope that all medical appointments go well today. I’ve nothing planned for today, I have an Ocado delivery later but that’s all. As it’s cooler I may go for a slightly longer walk this morning.
Have the best day possible everyone.

Kalu Wed 02-Jul-25 07:15:55

Good morning all. Back to rainy days in Glasgow but looking on the bright side, it’s warm and calm. I just keep telling myself it’s good for the garden.

A surprise visit from DD1 and GD2 yesterday but most importantly, my two favourite visitors arrived too. Milly is the 2yr old yellow lab and Magnus is the 1 yr old black one. We always had labs and I love having these two around, reminding me of those days. The best medicine for me anyway.
A GP appointment later to discuss if my change of meds. So far, so good.

Belated Happy Anniversary wishes Susan 🥂 Pleased to hear you had such a lovely day.

Best wishes to all for a pleasant day.

luluaugust Wed 02-Jul-25 07:13:35

Good morning from a grey, damp W Kent where I shall actually leave the house today. Watched a lot of tennis yesterday but off to friends for tea this morning. DD2 has a biopsy today and has apparently arrived an hour and a half early due to amazing traffic conditions. I hope she gets some answers soon for her sake and we may have an answer to a hundred year old mystery.
Best wishes to all

Jaxjacky Wed 02-Jul-25 07:13:31

Morning from a slightly cooler S Hants, there are rain clouds, but seem to be skirting us.
Safe journey home gMattie what an interesting trip.
Good luck with manhandling your dog Roses!
I hope your dog has something minor Bellas.
Hopefully I’ll get more done today, yesterday was very oppressive. I am taking my daughter out for a cream tea as it’s her birthday tomorrow, 39, I’ve never had one before. I must pick up my book club book from the library, I missed the last meeting, we were away.
