Mick

Good morning from Kaunas, Lithuania, where we spent the last two nights.
I’m all packed ready to take the bus to the airport, then the usual hanging around m waiting for the flight l
We had a fantastic day yesterday, visiting the music museum, seeing all the various traditional instruments, especially the kankles, reminiscent of the zither. Many special trumpet type wind instruments too.
Then on to the art museum, where there was a special exhibition/wing for an artist and composer, born 150 years ago.
Pootled round town, walked up and down. DS tells me we probably walked over 10km!
I had a lovely time but am Exhausted, long enough holiday and want to go home now.
Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩🦩

Good morning Mick and followers, it’s cloudy here in south Glos too, cooler thankfully. We badly need rain too.
I’m looking forward to the weather being cooler, I honestly don’t enjoy the heat one bit although I’m very fortunate that the house generally stays cool. The towels on the line baked rigid yesterday!
Tiddler had a bath yesterday, she’s a grubby little pickle who loves rolling in anything 😳, luckily she’s small enough to put in the bath. Bigger dog rarely rolls a round on walks.
Bigger dog has her six monthly routine vet check this morning, not looking forward to taking her because she hates the car…. DH says he’s busy this morning so can’t help.
Will take them out for a walk shortly, yesterday’s was muggy although we were out just after 6am.

Best wishes to you all 🌹

Good morning from a grey and cooler midlands. Some rain forecast for later today. Didn’t sleep much. Meeting a friend for a walk this morning for a nice change.
Teaching her how to crochet later.
Hugs to all who are suffering.

Good morning Mick and all from a bright morning in Cheshire, with spectacular cirrus clouds across the blue sky. A sign of good weather? Not sure. Enjoy your trip out Mick.

Setting up my new bird table with a camera proved quite complex, and attaching it to my phone via Bluetooth, but I found some very useful videos on Youtube thank goodness. A trip out for bird food this morning.

Your holiday sounds amazing grandMattie. Hope you have a trouble free journey home.

I'm pleased that the garden is looking full of colour, but I think I need some more yellow and blue, so will see what I can find at a couple of garden centres.

Cooler today, so I will feel more motivated. Hope everyone has a good day whatever you're up to. Special good wishes to all with worries or sadness. flowers

Good morning from a cooler, cloudy Torbay.

I’m impressed by the amount of walking you’ve completed, grandMattie, but can understand the tiredness. The music museum sounds fascinating. Safe homeward journey.

Good luck with your doggy plans, RosesandLilac!

The main front door of the block of flats in which I live has a beautiful solid wood door. This has been in need of some TLC (ie staining and varnishing) for nearly two years and I have regularly contacted the management company to request this in person (the office is very nearby) and by email. Finally, after more than 18 months of reminding, the task was completed yesterday!

How did we manage before YouTube, Sallyforth? Well done on setting up your bird table and camera!

Happy hump day, everyone! 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩

Good morning from Shropshire.Another sunny day forecast.

Thank you for the anniversary wishes. We had a lovely day.The children both performed well in church. We spent the rest of the day in Llangollen which is only eight miles away so not much driving. After lunch we walked by the river and built up an appetite for a cream tea.

Today a GP appointment first thing. Then this afternoon we have a two hour computer lesson😴to update us on everything new.I feel everything has changed so much in the last couple of years so a necessary update to our knowledge.

Your holiday sounds so interesting grandMattie.Safe travels home.

Thinking of all with mountains to climb.

Wishing everyone the best day possible🦩🌻

Bellasnana Wed 02-Jul-25 06:38:57

Good morning from Malta where it’s very hot and humid.

Many thanks for all the birthday greetings yesterday, all much appreciated.🤗

I had a lovely day, morning with the boys, afternoon watching Wimbledon, evening out with my friend plus long FaceTime calls with DD2 and DGD in the US, as well as lovely flowers, wine and a box of Body Shop goodies.

Today would have been my sister’s 73rd birthday. She only made it to 54. I do miss her so much.

The boys are coming here today as I’ve got the vet coming to see the dog. He’s not well at all. I’m worried because he won’t be able to have his vaccinations which means the kennels won’t accept him when I go away on the 19th.

I’ve also woken up with a raging sore throat. Not another cold, surely.😩

Glad you are having such a good holiday grandMattie.😊

Wishing a good day to all.☀️

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. It feels cooler and fresher.

I am popping into Oxford this morning. I want to buy a new straw hat - the weather will get hot again! I’m also collecting a handheld fan from Waitrose. I’m dropping a book off at a friend’s - the third book written by the lady who wrote the Salt Path.

OH may visit his bees. Or he may go and buy a new hat too!

Have a good day everyone. I hope all is well with the FGT2S. It seems she hasn’t been allowed back after all.

Grandmabatty Wed 02-Jul-25 06:45:06

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 12° and wet. Looks like it could be on for a while. GrandMattie safe journey home. Ash well done on your persistence.
Yesterday was a busy day with the boys. They played well together most of the time. We weeded my front garden, they collected all my jam jars from the cupboard and dgs1 tidied up the toys before bed.
We are all up. Because they share a room at my house, they don't sleep late. If they don't sleep late, neither do I! We'll play about the house until they get picked up then we are all going for lunch. After that, I'll potter about. Have a good day all.

Good morning Michael and all GNs from a WET South Yorkshire. It’s raining and cool at last. I cut the front lawn when I got home from school yesterday so hopefully there’ll be a bit of green soon to take the place of the brown, and my plants will be delighted.
Writers group at the library this afternoon and I will do a bit of shopping while at the mall.
Have the best day you can folks.

Mizuna Wed 02-Jul-25 07:04:08

Good morning from a cooler Cornwall, max 18° later, phew. To my library craft group this morning then doing the school pick up for my eldest son. Yesterday he sent a video of himself and three friends wading through an abandoned mine, up to their necks in water. 😃 I'll hear all about it later at his house.

Have booked a one-to-one session with a professional seamstress in two weeks, for help planning another Boro jacket, this time using floral dresses and leggings. I'm used to working with denim so need some particular advice about the shoulder construction with a softer fabric. She lives ten minutes' walk from me, which is handy. 👍

kittylester Wed 02-Jul-25 07:05:35

Good morning all from a cloudy cooler North Leicestershire.

Our cleaner is due at 9 am and DH is off to the gym. Eye clinic this pm. Week.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Gingster Wed 02-Jul-25 07:07:29

Good morning all and hallelujah it’s cooler and raining! Bliss!
Yesterday was unbearable 🥵. We sat and melted whilst trying to play bridge. I think people will start to buy air conditioning units as these heatwaves seem to be the norm each summer, here in the south east.

Today Dh will go with his old pals for breakfast and I’ll catch the bus up to town , wander around the market, pay cheques into the bank and meet my friend for an iced latte. Will pay M and S a visit too. Sushi and strawberries .
Back in time for tennis 🎾.

GM your holiday sounds wonderful but exhausting. Well done you.
I hope your sore throat doesn’t develop Bella.
Well done Sallyforth with the bird table. 🐦‍⬛🐦. You have to have so much patience putting anything together these days. 😤.

Hoping Marydoll is feeling a bit better and brighter. 💐

Enjoy the cooler weather - I think the heat returns next week !
😩

karmalady Wed 02-Jul-25 07:11:55

Good morning from cloudy s somerset, phew, sunny later but it will be a lovely temperature

GM I am loving your Lithuanian adventures

I was drenched after my walk yesterday followed by a strenuous hour in the garden, at last I have cut the geraniums down, to flower another time. Followed by thinning dozens of apples from 3 trees, the compost worms will like them. I think the trees will be breathing a sigh of relief. Some rose trimming and dead-heading too, such good plants for a drought, not had even a drop of extra water this year

Today I am cycling to the allotment for a couple of hours, then back to re-do the toile I got rid-of yesterday, it needed a couple of simple alterations and a better fabric

Mmm I put passion fruit into my breakfast this morning, truly a heavenly taste. That plus my huge china mug of yorkshire gold, the china mug was worth every penny, makes tea taste so good and my day start well

Have a good day

Jaxjacky Wed 02-Jul-25 07:13:31

Morning from a slightly cooler S Hants, there are rain clouds, but seem to be skirting us.
Safe journey home gMattie what an interesting trip.
Good luck with manhandling your dog Roses!
I hope your dog has something minor Bellas.
Hopefully I’ll get more done today, yesterday was very oppressive. I am taking my daughter out for a cream tea as it’s her birthday tomorrow, 39, I’ve never had one before. I must pick up my book club book from the library, I missed the last meeting, we were away.

Good morning from a grey, damp W Kent where I shall actually leave the house today. Watched a lot of tennis yesterday but off to friends for tea this morning. DD2 has a biopsy today and has apparently arrived an hour and a half early due to amazing traffic conditions. I hope she gets some answers soon for her sake and we may have an answer to a hundred year old mystery.
Best wishes to all

Kalu Wed 02-Jul-25 07:15:55

Good morning all. Back to rainy days in Glasgow but looking on the bright side, it’s warm and calm. I just keep telling myself it’s good for the garden.

A surprise visit from DD1 and GD2 yesterday but most importantly, my two favourite visitors arrived too. Milly is the 2yr old yellow lab and Magnus is the 1 yr old black one. We always had labs and I love having these two around, reminding me of those days. The best medicine for me anyway.
A GP appointment later to discuss if my change of meds. So far, so good.

Belated Happy Anniversary wishes Susan 🥂 Pleased to hear you had such a lovely day.

Best wishes to all for a pleasant day.

Redcar Wed 02-Jul-25 07:19:53

Good morning everyone. It’s cloudy, cool and damp here in mid Essex. I hope we’ll get a few showers this morning, the water barrels are nearly empty. I didn’t sleep well last night, the house was too hot, even with lots of windows open. Fingers crossed it will be cooler today.
mizuna your eldest son is very adventurous! bellasnana I hope that there’s nothing seriously wrong with your dog and that he can have his vaccinations.
I hope that all medical appointments go well today. I’ve nothing planned for today, I have an Ocado delivery later but that’s all. As it’s cooler I may go for a slightly longer walk this morning.
Have the best day possible everyone.

brook2704 Wed 02-Jul-25 07:22:02

Good morning everyone from Inverness where we’ve light grey cloud and it looks very still, some rain for later maybe
Safe journey gMattie and to everyone else on the move today
Some housework to do this morning and then I’ve an eye clinic check up this afternoon. Hope your appt goes ok too kitty Afterwards we’ll go for a coffee somewhere and do a bit of shopping
Have a lovely day with the boys grandmabatty
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

hollysteers Wed 02-Jul-25 07:32:34

Good morning from a brightening northwest coast.
Really enjoyed getting back to the music club yesterday, remembered the words to my wordy song too.

Earlier, spent ages on the phone to my bank. My card is declined every now and then for no reason, so they have sorted that out and I did a silly thing, I booked a seat for a local show, choosing a seat near the back. I thought it was near the front. This shows that multitasking doesn’t work as I was booking it whilst on the phone to the bank. I’ve been advised to go along on the night and speak to a certain person to see what can be done. It’s pretty full.

This is the first week I have had my legs ‘out’ (with some fake tan) and I love this weather. Today the usual lunchtime recital and a meet up with fellow music club member for coffee. He’s a great talker so will hardly get a word in. Good company though.
Glad you enjoyed your trip GM. It’s nice to go away and nice to come home. Hope you too had a good time Susan and thoughts to all🌺

EkwaNimitee Wed 02-Jul-25 07:35:06

Good morning Mick and everyone from Carlisle. Another grey day here and we may have more rain.
Yesterday morning was quite pleasant. After a cleaning set to in the kitchen and bathrooms, I got out to mow the front lawn and deadhead the rose border. Just as well, after lunch the skies darkened and it was rather heavy rain for the afternoon. I wasn't too sorry, it's saved me from watering the bedding plants.
Today I'm nipping into town shortly to top up my fresh veg and fruit supplies and to offload more books in the charity shop. Decluttering has almost ceased on other fronts though, a trawl through paperwork continued yesterday afternoon but achieved little in the way of getting rid of anything.
After lunch I hope to finally get the golden privet below ground level and then make sure it can't re-sprout, it's a vigorous beast.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Georgesgran Wed 02-Jul-25 07:43:14

Good Morning from a still, overcast Durham. It started to rain late last night, steady, but gentle and there are some puddles left in places. Much needed for the gardens and to add to water butts.
The estate road is closed again today, so up and out early to move my car elsewhere, as I’ve an early appointment for my annual blood tests, etc at the surgery - not looking forward to the weigh in!
Going to watch DGS2 swimming later, with a view to taking him next week, as his parents can’t, so I need to remind myself of the routine.
Hope your dog isn’t too poorly Bellasnana such a worry,
Safe travels to those on the move and kind thoughts for those feeling below par.

Best wishes to all. X

cornergran Wed 02-Jul-25 07:43:29

Morning Mick, morning All from a cool, cloudy corner of Somerset.

After a thoroughly enjoyable lunch in our favourite spot we were off for a very short stroll and a longer sit by a marina. Mr C is being careful with his foot which seems to be improving. Not much sun about yesterday here, little forecast today but who knows. It’s getting windy again. Nothing really planned for today other than receiving the grocery delivery, there will be something g to keep me busy.

That sounds an interesting holiday grandmattie, Wishing you a trouble free trip home. 🤞 for your dog bellasnanna and that yours decides the car is fun roses .

Thinking of all with worries. Have the best day you can everyone.

NannyJan53 Wed 02-Jul-25 07:56:25

Good morning from a cloudy and much cooler Black Country.

Had a lovely lunch meet up with Aunt, and cousin. She has recently finished Cancer treatment, and is now looking forward to a holiday next week with her Mum. Advised not to fly abroad at the moment though.

No real plans today, may pop to Merry Hill to look for shoes to go with a new dress, as we have a couple of parties this month. DGD1 is 21, and MrJ's twins are 30!

Not seen Monk08 for a while, hope she is ok.

Wishing you all the best day possible
