Football!!! I asked DH to turn over to the tennis but it's a repeat of a MacIntyre programme. What happened?
Even sport on Channel 5 too.

Yes, I know there's iPlayer, recordings etc but I might just go to bed and read. ☹
Or nod off.

I never watch Saturday night tv anyway because it seems to be full of Ant&Dec, Michael MacIntire (sp) or talent contests. So for once I’m actually watching tv. My current favourite house renovation programme is on BBC1 or 2 at the moment.

I hate sport so I get irritated that most TV listings are full of tennis, cricket, bloody football and horse racing. What I get even more annoyed about is , that sport is put on BBC1 and the news is moved to BBC2. Why not put sport on BBC2 ?

But your husband doesn’t need all the main channels on a Saturday night Jane does he ? Surely if they have to put sport on all the main channels on a Saturday night they could put our drivel on another channel? ( of course better still if they put the bluddy sport on another channel) but surely we could have both
Why take them off completely ?

Should be on a subscription like Netflix, now tv, Prime, pay to view.

It is frustrating but my DH is a sport lover, especially tennis so I am happy to find something to watch on another tv, I am currently watching Endeavour on ITVX which is a delight.

This evening at 810pm on bbc4 there will be 3 episodes of the Agatha Christies The body in the Library starring Joan Hickson. Should be worth recording/watching.

I agree there is plenty on iplayer, and I suppose with sport it really matters if it is shown "live". With drama and variety and so on, whether it is live or not doesn't really matter. It must be really annoying though if you don't have a smart TV.

It is every night, not just a couple of hours one night. With so much sport at present, I think a couple of separate channels are needed. Surely we are entitled to watch the usual rubbish such as Casualty?

Smileless2012 Sat 05-Jul-25 18:10:50

There's plenty on BBC iplayer.

I m thinking the same Crosstitchfan* why should I pay to watch wall to wall football, cricket, tennis
It’s my entertainment in the evenings
I m so pipped off I sit her on my own and look forward to losing myself in silliness

I get apoplectic when I see all this sport, it’s so much, so often.
If Corrie or Eastenders were shown all evening there would be an outcry!
Why does the TV schedule revolve around sport?
I think the time has come to stop renewing my licence. I don’t want to pay out for a load of tripe, especially as I am a ‘poor old pensioner’!

It's rubbish isn't it? We're watching a re-run of This City is Ours. It's not much better through the week either at the moment.

BlueBelle Sat 05-Jul-25 17:49:01

So it’s Saturday night and BBC 1BBC 2 and ITV have sport on all night Football or tennis I am so fed up even BBC 4 has cricket
It’s just not worth a tv licence anymore
