Breaking things- ggrrr.

My DS bought me be a beautiful crackle glass vase from Ironbridge, ‘it was her favourite place’, so it meant a lot to me.
I put some lights inside the vase, to show off the lovely colours at Christmas. Whilst closing the curtains, I clumsily tripped over the wire, pulling the vase clean off the window sill. The bottom is smashed but the rest of the vase is ok, so I have left it on the sill - can’t bare to put it in the bin.

What I have been particularly sad about was breaking the lids of two of the Pyrex dishes I brought from my mother's kitchen. They were little ones, ideal for cooking small amounts of vegetables in the microwave for just the two of us.

We don't have charity shops here in Germany. At least not near me. I will look next time I'm in the UK though.

My sewing machine packed up last week. I also managed to scrape the car in JLs carpark last week, I was very tired and stressed as DH was in hospital. Then yesterday I tripped and face planted onto the pavement! I was picked up by two primary school teachers whi helped to staunch the blood which was flowing so freely that I had to go and buy something to wear as my skirt was soaked! I'm hoping that's the third!

It’s so annoying, isn’t it, a pot without its lid!

Whilst DH was away last week I was watering the garden when the nozzle simply broke off. I managed to fling it away from myself and run to the tap and switch it off without getting too wet. I couldn't figure out how to mend it, and couldn't get the broken bit out of the hose so I just left it. He had a bit of a struggle with it when he got back, too, so it wasn't just me being dim. We did get some rain shortly after so no serious damage was done and I had already watered the tomatoes and other veg.

I ran over my spectacles a few weeks ago- still wearable but feel wonky!

Last week DH had to replace his Tablet and replace the hard drive in his Laptop. Our fridgefreezer broke down and we lost quite a bit of food before it could be replaced and then following some problems with our landline we had to replace the three handsets. Hoping at least for a less expensive week to come.

I only ever break things that I really mind about! So disheartening, especially when it’s entirely my own fault.

The worst thing that's happened to me is that my garden table, on a very blowy day, was tipped over by its parasol - which broke the glass top into a thousand tiny pieces.

All of which went into the grass.

(1)One of those recessed lights in my bathroom , literally burst with a bang and shattered glass all over the bath.
(2)Trip went off - strangely only the plug points stopped working - no kettle, no no microwave , no Tv., but all ceiling lights worked.
Neighbour to the rescue - turned the ‘trip back on.
(3)spare toilet kept dripping water into the toilet bowl . Heaven help my water bill.!! Called plumber - needs new ‘something’

I was careless and let it stand against something.

Well I just had no.4 so maybe I took one for you. The dishwasher switched itself on ( empty) and I turned it off. It stated again by itself. Must be something wrong with the electrics I suppose. It is 22 years old but it has been a good up to now - made in New Zealand.

The microwave took up smoking………does that count? Seriously, it was quite scary at the time………I noticed a peculiar smell and intense heat coming from it and immediately turned it off at the socket. Still waiting for my other two but I’m sure it won’t be long.
