I know exactly how it feels. My husband always forgot my birthday, as birthdays did not mean much to him.

Like you, I felt sad, and still do, as there is now no-one left to wish me a happy birthday as my parents and sister are long gone.

I am glad you have found some things to enjoy on your birthday.

I shan’t mention it to OH, it would only upset him, and I’ve put the cards up in my bedroom for the same reason. “Lathyrus”, I love the comment about the courgettes. It reminds me of a Miss Read book about being headmistress at a tiny country school where she would find presents of marrows left on her doorstep like abandoned babies and would creep out at n.ight to bury them in the garden so as not to cause offence.

It’s obviously a weekend for special people as my half sister was 91 and my dear friends was 90 this week end. You are blessed.

Thank you all. I had a lovely day. DD had gone on holiday but left a lovely lunch that I just had to warm up—-much appreciated on a hot day. GD brought the baby round for a cuddle together with scones, jam and clotted cream for tea. S2 rang from Australia for a long chat, also GS3 and several other GCs messaged me,so a busy, happy day.
