Working in someone else's home
"I know there are people worse off then me"
OH has forgotten that it’s my birthday today. At 89, I only have 2 good friends left and they have both sent lovely cards, but what I miss is hearing an actual voice wishing me Happy Birthday. Still,I count my blessings. I’ve just picked a colander full of runner beans, my first tomatoes are ripening, my little cat is purring peacefully by my side and it’s not as hot as it was yesterday.
Another wish for a happy belated birthday 🎂 ! I've only just seen the thread.
Happy birthday to you Chicken xx
Really when a person has memory problems it is not kind to remind them of something they have forgotten to do.
They OP has said she will not remind her husband.
I fully understand this because my late husband suffered from young onset dementia. His art therapist very kindly made birthday cards for me when my husband was beyond remembering my birthday.
His therapist helped him to scrawl his name on the cards.
It's twenty plus years since he died and I still have those precious cards.
Happy birthday! Why don't you remind him, so you can celebrate it the weekend! There's no point in wasting time and energy at your time of life, enjoy the next week and remind everyone you know, be happy!!!
Hope you've had a lovely peaceful birthday. Your cat will always love you. And hopefully your OH too.🎂🎉🎈
Happy Birthday to a hardy perennial!
Happy birthday chicken just be glad you’ve got him but make him pay! 😂😂
Just to add another Happy Birthday!🎂
All birthdays over the age of 10 should be banned.
Happy Birthday Chicken! 89 is a triumph! I am 85 and lost my husband to cancer in 2008. I am so pleased you still have your DH and that your family came up trumps. Have a lovely coming year and then it will be the great 90! x
Happy birthday chicken, you’ve beaten me by one year I was 88 last week. My DH had dementia and was in a nursing home until he died last year so I too missed my loving hugs, card and gift so I know how you feel. We can’t give you a real hug but I join everybody else hoping you had a lovely day with growing your produce and your little pal and your memories
I hope by the time you read this you did have a hug as I did from family and friends 🥰😘🎂💖
What a lovely person you must be chicken to understand and look on the bright side of life. Definitely a glass half full type of person. Happy birthday and have a lovely day
Happy birthday Chicken! Hope you are having a good one, and will be doing something nice to celebrate.
💐🎂🍸

Happy birthday! My hubby doesn't have memory problems but has only remembered my birthday, our anniversary and Valentine's Day without prompting half a dozen times in our 41 years.
That reminds me of my late Granddad. I’m only telling you that because of your name. He was Welsh and many/most Welsh males are notoriously unsentimental. He never remembered either and always had be reminded by one of us.
Now I think of it, another Welsh friend moans that her husband forgets. I think it must be a bit of a Welsh thing!
Happy birthday Chicken and enjoy your day celebrating eating your runner beans.

Have collected and cherished the past 'n' years worth of birthday cards he drew for me
now . after a few strokes in his mid-90s..... early in the morning on my birthday He wakens me with a slurred .'Apbirsh' as far as I can transliterate it
I so enjoy it...... and he, in 60 years of marriage has never sent me a birthday present..... only a ( maybe a free gift' the florist was happy to be rid of) a 1- remaining leaved rubber plant which he produced from behind his gabardine mac He could not understand why I screamed with laughter
His family was too poor to do presents maybe...... He never objects when I pay for whatever I like from hIS money All is well in N hants !!
Did he really draw cards for you? How absolutely lovely!
I think that those whose husbands forget birthdays should perhaps think what the marriage itself is like.
In my opinion, it’s silly to get upset about one day, but this does depend on what the other 364 days are like! I, for one, would rather have a happy, loving marriage to a man who forgot my birthday than a miserable one to one who remembers it.
I was lucky in that I had a brilliant marriage and my husband always remembered birthdays and anniversaries. He wasn’t a saint…..he simply had a diary!
Happy birthday .
Hi and hope you have a happy birthday, please regard this as a virtual card! 💕🩷🌷
PS I’m afraid that I shamelessly remind people about my birthday by inviting them to tea or whatever!
With my husband we talk about it a day or several in advance and plan what to do. Our lives are so complicated nowadays, and days can merge into months, so I don’t take chances!
Have a happy remainder of your special day 🎁🎂🎈
I never put any reliance on male memory. I have just seen on Facebook a picture of my lovely DiL receiving her PhD at her graduation ceremony. DS ccompletely forgot to tell us she was graduating today.
A week or so before my birthday I discuss with DH where we will go out to for a birthday meal. With a bit of luck he then asks whaat i would like for my birthday and in a really good year I will also get a birthday card.
He comes from a family that didn't really celebrate anything very much, and he is very happy to celebrate, its just it is not instinctive in him.

Happy birthday Chicken. It's always a tad hurtful when a special day is overlooked. But you have risen above it and taken comfort in the beautiful vegetables you have grown.
