Good morning from a slightly cooler Bristol. It is still tinder dry, all the grass everywhere is brown…
We had a baptism in church yesterday, so loads of children running around, and lots of attendees.
It wasn’t as hot as before, thankfully, but I still had a very quiet afternoon.
I was “stealing” some lavender from a little hedge opposite my house when its owner caught me and told me take as much as I wanted as it was burning cut right back soon. I made some lavender bottles, just like my English granny used to. I posted one through the lady’s letterbox. She caught me yesterday saying that she’d never seen these and how did I make them. I gave her an immediate lesson as I had taken a load earlier. She was delighted.
I gave a couple to my upstairs neighbours; no one had ever seen them before, though made loads of lavender bags. Interesting.🤔
A humungous shop at Tesco today as I shall be shopping for the fete on Saturday. I’m in charge of catering and have no idea how many cakes I shall be given.
I have a dermatology appointment at the local hospital thus afternoon for a suspicious growth near my nose.
Hope all goes well for everyone today. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

Good morning Mick from a dry and cooler north 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 where I’m all exited to be going away with my friend for a few days on another jolly with our Bingo winnings 🤗

Southport is another first for me - I can’t remember if anyone on this thread lives there? If so let me know of things to do if it rains please as ☔️ on the way tomorrow! Regardless, we have an afternoon tea booked which will include 🥂

Hope Bellasnana is still reading 👋 and feels able to join us soon. Also I have fingers crossed on Maw’s diagnosis, the waiting is debilitating on its own!

I’ll pop back later to see what you’re all getting up to x

RosesandLilac Mon 14-Jul-25 05:53:19

Good morning, it’s a bit cooler here on the hillside in south Glos, hazy clouds and very pale skies.
I slept badly, probably because I had a small gin and tonic yesterday evening, I fancied one!
We’ll take the dogs to the village this morning, walk down through the woods for a change. It’s been too warm for them to have a decent walk, even at 5am.
Another quiet day ahead!
Thinking of those who are struggling or unhappy or unwell , hugs to all who need them 🌹

Good morning from s somerset, a big sigh of relief to `maybe` get back to a normal temperature

I had a restless night, my bedroom was too hot and it would not cool down. I am doing all I can to reduce the temperature upstairs today, 3 fans on, windows open and loft hatch is also open for now. Downstairs is now a pleasant temperature

There are/were fires burning on fields near Warminster also a big field on the way to Wells and I see that massive stock of hay has gone up elsewhere. This is a scary season

I did a lot of filing etc, to do with sewing, yesterday and am on top of this now. I packaged 2 more `kits` for winter sewing, already cut out and have finally started to make sense of Tessuti sizing. Their patterns are wonderful, so stylish. I have at least 6 but only yesterday made a first quick toile from calico, only the torso area of a dress. I am saving my best linen for Tessuti and am not about to waste any of it

I want to cycle to my plot today, prep a bed ready for some brassicas, bearing in mind that we may get a little rain. Then if I fancy housework, I will be washing kitchen cupboard doors

Have a good day

Good morning from Bastille Day in France. Yesterday evening we had two short sharp showers but it was even hotter overnight.

Enjoy your break, Pantglas.
I hope health news for grandMattie and RosieandherMaw is reassuring and that Bellasnana returns soon.

I completed the accumulation of ironing yesterday but at some cost to my right shoulder which was decidedly grumpy over night. It’s just another joint afflicted with arthritis.

Today we plan a trip on a little train to a picnic area by a lake where there will be a brocante (bric-à-brac) We’ve been before and enjoy supporting this endeavour run by volunteers.

A good day is wished to all. 🦩🥰🇫🇷💐🦩

Good morning from Sunnyside sandhills northwest coast.
Earlier for me today as I’m off on a coach trip to Bakewell and the Derbyshire Dales. What I have done with my rechargeable fan I don’t know🙄. Anyway sandwiches and flask of coffee prepared etc. Didn’t sleep particularly well, a common occurrence for me when I have an ‘early’ planned trip.

Yesterday in the garden, parasol up and nice to see some roses coming up I put in quite a while ago. Obviously it’s sandy soil, not the best.
Wishing everyone the best day they can🌺

Good morning Mick and everyone from a bright morning in Cheshire. The vivid blue sky has gone and it's a muted blue/grey this morning. A lovely cool breeze, so had windows and doors open from dawn.

Thanks for reminding me where the Tour is up to Mick. Now Wimbledon is over and done, I plan to catch up with the Tour. Massif region is one of my favourite areas, although over the years we've visited so many places the Tour has gone through.

I'm pleased that my garden has so many plants to attract bees. Busy as a bee is certainly true! I put out some sugar water for them yesterday as it was so hot and they were so busy. Then all of a sudden, gone. They'll be back.

Enjoy your day. Hope Bellasnana is doing OK and feels she can come back soon. flowers A hug for anyone feeling poorly or sad.

Morning Mick, morning All from a cooler corner of Somerset.

Yesterday didn’t quite work out as planned and involved two kind men helping to extract our car from soft sand while I tried to obey their instructions. It will seem funny one day, at the moment Mr C is mortified as he has steered us into it. Oops.

Today we’re off out. Some shopping at an Outlet (Mr C will ‘shop’ from seat to seat as his foot is sore today) before an evening meal with our son and granddaughter. They travel to Australia on Friday for a holiday with the elder granddaughter who has been travelling there since March. I’ll be edgy until I know there have been safe landings.

Good luck at the hospital grandmattie, positive vibes to maw and all with health struggles

Have the best day you can everyone.

Susan56 Mon 14-Jul-25 06:49:27

Good morning from Shropshire.Slightly cooler temperatures forecast for today.

I have had a good nights sleep after a busy weekend with DGS1.I have had a rubbish time with my health this year and have woken up feeling fed up with it all so need to give my head a wobble and shake myself out of it.My normal mantra is gratitude for what I can do so don’t know what’s got into me today🙄

I hope your appointment is reassuring grandMattie and also that Rosieandhermaw gets reassuring news too.

Thinking of our absent goodmorningers especially Bellasnana and hoping all is well.

Wishing everyone a good day🌻🦩

Good morning from W Kent where it seems to have rained overnight. It was lovely to see our AC and partners together yesterday along with 3 of the GC. A happy day spent mostly in the garden. Not sure what the plans are for today until everyone gets up.
I have a tooth suddenly playing up, managed to get an appointment for tomorrow, not sure what’s going on.
Best wishes to all

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s bright with high cloud, pleasantly cool outside. Last day of the heatwave for us here, yesterday felt very hot, with little breeze until late afternoon. Both DDs called in the afternoon, DD1 with family and the dog, DD2 on her own as her family were with her OH’s mum, who lives near me. They were getting ready for a family BBQ later.
I’m planning a shopping trip in town this morning, I have a list of things to buy!
I hope that gm’s appointment is reassuring today and that maw has good news soon.
Thinking of the fgts and bellasnana . Enjoy your trip to Southport pantglas, our bingo winnings might buy a cup of coffee, if lucky!
Have the best day possible everyone.

Good morning everyone from a slightly cooler morning in Northampton. Slept quite well and didn't want to get up when the alarm went off. But needs must as it's early yoga class day.

Ironed my new dress yesterday morning as I p!anned to wear.it in the afternoon to DGD1's dance show.
The show was excellent, so many talented children aged from 3 to 18. 26 different acts altogether.
DGD, being a senior now, seemed to be in so many of the acts, and must have had about 10 changes of costume!
She received the award for best senior jazz dancer, and also the "Dancers' Dancer" award.
Very proud parents and Grandma, and also boyfriend, who had come along for the first time.

No real plans for after yoga, may clean the bathrooms if I feel like it, but a quiet afternoon reading sounds good.

Wishing all a pleasant day.

GrannyGravy13 Mon 14-Jul-25 07:21:56

Good morning from a cooler and overcast S E Essex, have we had our summer?

Off to the gym first thing, then a quick coffee and catch up with my gym pals. Back home I need to tackle the ironing and sort out some bits and pieces.

Thinking of Bellasnanna I hope her gorgeous boys are bringing her joy.

FGT2 (((hugs)))

Hope your appointment goes well grandMattie

Georgesgran Mon 14-Jul-25 07:26:17

Good Morning from Durham. Much cooler today with a 1 in 3 chance of rain later. I’m promised a new ‘thingy’ from Sky later, which should get my internet back on and running. We shall see.
I must visit a bank branch to get my account set up on my new phone - tried multiple times and it’s not transferring. Very frustrating, as I need to transfer funds to pay HMRC!

Thinking of those with worries about their health and that of their loved ones.

Best wishes to all. X

Jaxjacky Mon 14-Jul-25 07:27:23

Morning, slightly cooler here in S Hants, yesterday was so hot, children and grands here for bbq, we all sat out under shade to eat, then swiftly scuttled indoors. Usual voluntary phone today, quiz later, in between library and my ad hoc gardener will do an hour for us, must get some cash.
I think lots of Bastille fireworks have been cancelled Ashcombe fire risk is too high.
What fun Pantglas enjoy your visit.
I hope MrSar has made good progress on his trip.

Good morning Michael and all GNs from a very overcast Northern Ireland. We are in for a change in the weather but will make the best of it. We had a lovely day yesterday. It was hot. The hotel GS picked for Sunday lunch was lovely and the food superb. ‘The boy done good’! We walked along the coast path for a while then played crazy golf near the beach and ate ice cream. Today the plan is to go early to Coleraine and do some food and clothes shopping DD needs a swim suit and I managed to leave half my underwear at home🙄. Then if the weather isn’t too bad we will take the ferry to Rathlin Island.

Corner DH would have sympathised with yours - he got out our car stuck in sand on a beach not far from where we are now and had to be helped out! I stood watching with two small very anxious children!
Have the best day you can, folks.

To all those French folks living in UK, to the lovers of all things French, to all the nostalgic ex-French residents like us.....
bon quatorze juillet!

harrigran Mon 14-Jul-25 07:38:03

Good morning from north Wales where it is a more comfortable temperature this morning.
We were out of the house all day yesterday, we drove to Llanberis and got the train up Snowdon, all seven of us. DS and the four teenagers went to the summit and took lots of photos and then walked down the mountain. DIL and I got back on the train.
It was a perfect day for sightseeing.
Dinner was very late but we managed to rustle up salmon en croute with a green salad, tomato salad and potato salad.
I enjoyed listening to the young ones recounting their afternoon, they couldn't believe how many runners they had seen on the mountain in that heat.
I think I may stay home today and finish my book.
Oh dear just glanced out of the window and the sky looks thundery.
Have a good day.

Gingster Mon 14-Jul-25 07:44:18

Good morning all and it’s thankfully cooler. Yesterday wasn’t too bad as it was cloudy until early afternoon. Dd and DGD came for lunch and then sat in the garden with ice creams. A crow landed on the roof and that started a bit of a quiz ‘A murder of crows’, a ‘loveliness of ladybirds’, a ‘tower of giraffs’. DGD got her I pad out and we found some really funny ones. Her thirst for knowledge is so engaging.

We then came inside to watch The Final. What a match! Amazing players. 🎾.

DS1 and family are due home from Malta today. Arriving at Southend airport which is only 20 minutes away from where he and we live.
A plane crash yesterday has closed the airport, so they have another days holiday and landing at Gatwick tomorrow night.

A light aircraft with all on board killed 🙏.

Today I have Chimes group. Our leader has to take her Dh for an early blood test so we await to hear what time she’ll be back 🔔.

I hope all appointments are positive. 🙏

Take care all 🌼

Good morning from the Essex coast. The sun is up, a warm day is forecast.
I'm hoping DH has finally arrived in Holland. There have been a few hiccups since he left on Saturday, I won't bore you with the details.
Yesterday afternoon 8 boats from the club motored down the river as part of our annual regatta. Each one had family and friends on board and it was such fun.
We moored up back at the club for a BBQ. A lovely afternoon.
Today I have lots of admin to do and will go out for a walk later.
I hope all goes well for GM and Maw.
Enjoy the day, best wishes to all xx

Marydoll Mon 14-Jul-25 07:58:48

Good morning all, from a wet Glasgow, where it is already 17°C,

I'm not surprised that you are fed up Susan, no matter how resilient one is, chronic ill health definitely affects our mindset. Positivity is blooming exhausting! 💐

Once again, I had to deal with another flood at church in the disabled toilet. The other one is still out of action. It is going to be a very expensive job, the sewers are blocked. Probably tree roots, which happened last year in the parochial Hall.
We have beautiful grounds, but the sixty year old trees are causing lots of problems.

I knew Mass would be busy, so I had gone to put in extra toilet rolls.
The hot water heater is dripping and someone had moved the spout, so that it was not dripping into the sink, but on to the floor.
Also, there is a baby changing table and someone had taken the wipes and nappy sacks, I had put there. 🤬
I am sad that someone must have been so desperate, thar they would steal from a church. The same thing happened last week in the flooded toilet.

GM, we had two baptisms yesterday, which is becoming the norm every Sunday.
I love to see everyone in their finery, especially the African families in their traditional dress, their outfits are stunning.
One gentleman, in a traditional long, white robe was wearing the most suitable attire for the heat!
I bumped into him, as he was wandering around the church looking for something. I couldn't understand what he was saying, (remember I am deaf).
It transpired, that he was looking for his child's doameeee. (dummy).🤣

No Mass for me today, I have a rheumatology telephone (with hearing loss and no voice) consultation. That should be interesting.
It was planned in addition to my face to face appointment, to discuss the outcome of my oral medicine referral and hopefully restart my RA meds.
Unfortunately the oral medicine appointment has not been forthcoming, my mouth is still exceedingly painful and I'm still losing weight.
Yesterday, I needed to use my angina spray and the pain in my mouth made my eyes water!
Last night I decided to treat myself to a glass of a delicious Irish Cream liqueur, it stung like hell, but I forced it down, as it was for medicinal purposes.🤣
The only positive thing to come out of this, is my usually dangerously high BP was normal yesterday, for the first time in thirty years!!
My heart and COPD checks are overdue (no surprise there) and I haven't checked my BP for ages, because I was becoming obsessive about it.
The only I reason, I can think of is the dramatic weight loss has impacted on it.

After a rest yesterday, I decided on another cull for BHF.
Isn't amazing, that you try on something you always thought, you looked good in and it does not suit you at all.
I have some dresses with pockets, bought in last year's sale that are enormous, but too large too alter.
Someone is going to get a bargain for I have such good taste! 🤣
Unfortunately, my wardrobe s don't look any less cramned.
Today, it will be shoes. However, I suspect, the title, I took over from Imelda Marcus, will be safe.

Pants, enjoy your jolly.

GM, hoping you have positive outcome today. I was amazed to have my skin cancer diagnosed and treated, only three days after my GP sent photos.
I hope you and Maw expeience a similar speedy outcome.

Wishing you all an enjoyable day and hugs for all, (including Bella, and FGT ) , who are struggling.

GrannySomerset Mon 14-Jul-25 08:00:11

Safely home after a great celebratory party for DD’s 60th birthday and DD and DSiL’s 25th wedding anniversary. DGD1 and I did a double act by way of speeches which went down well and a thoroughly good time was had by all. Definitely feel there is much to be grateful for.

Am very glad it is a bit cooler and hope to feel rather more energetic this week. The thought that we will have to get used to higher temperatures alarms and depresses me but realise we will soon be complaining about being cold and wet.

ginny Mon 14-Jul-25 08:02:22

Good morning. Back home in N. Bucks where it is cloudy with a cool breeze
Our two weeks away were wonderful. Good weather, good friends and so many beautiful places.
Today the washing machine will be busy. DH is off to golf and I shall do a little pottering in the garden. Luckily our DDs have kept it watered and it seems to have survived the heat. I’m so pleased I haven’t missed the Agapanthus and lilies blooming.
. WI knitting group this afternoon and maybe some art work this evening.

Thinking af those who are under par or with worries. I seldom like to give name for fear that I miss someone. A good day wished for all.

NannyJan53 Mon 14-Jul-25 08:03:15

Good morning from another hot Black Country. Seems to be more cloud about today though.

Yesterday was a lazy one, reading outside and a BBQ for our evening meal.

Will decided in the next hour whether I go on my usual Monday morning group walk. Then Line Dancing this afternoon. Apparently it is going to be cooler tomorrow.

We are in Bristol this coming Saturday for MrJ's twins 30th, they are having a BBQ for family and friends
at a venue there, and rain is forecast for that day at the moment.

Wishing you all the best day possible. Thinking of FGT Bellas MD Maw and anyone who is struggling with health worries.
