Happy birthday EkwaNimitee
The importance of grandparents - we could have told them this!
Happy birthday EkwaNimitee
Good morning Mick and everyone from sunny Carlisle.
Yesterday it rained all day, just clearing up at the end of the afternoon. Naturally, I stayed home and cleared off the week's routine housework, now I have the rest of the week to please myself!
I'm into town shortly on various errands and will treat myself to coffee and biscuits and expose myself to the temptations of Waterstones as I have the excuse of it being my birthday!
I shall do nothing useful for the rest of the day...maybe read my book and possibly work in the garden. Strange how keeping the garden in order is not seen as work, well not by me, and keeping the house in order is....
I saw in the business news that our famous biscuit factory is getting more investment. There are two enjoyable smells you can get round Carlisle, one is the sweet smell of biscuits baking, the other, in the centre, is the smell of coffee beans roasting. No nasty pongs here!
Wishing you all the best possible day.
Good morning from sunny s somerset
The winds have dropped so I need to cycle to the allotment, my baby brassicas will be needing some water. We had no rain yesterday
I did not do much yesterday, just pottered and prepped two more patterns, one called cora and designed by Tessuti. I am ploughing well through my pattern stash and am slowly deciding which patterns are pure gold
My 3 bargain long skirts came from lands end, pure 100% softened linen. I have to shorten by a great deal but first will wash them separately for color run and to get any shrinking over with. It looks as though I will need to take about 12" off each one. I am glad I read that particular e mail and acted decisively as they will be good for all 4 seasons
Have a good day
Morning from a bright S Hants, the rain yesterday was welcomed, but we need more. Legal bod visited and we signed numerous times on our POA’s, just need my daughter’s signatures now.
We’ve had lots of flies coming in since the weekend, I'm hoping they’ll push off again soon, doors and windows will stay open.
M&S today, flowers for a friends birthday tomorrow, tonight my car is being collected, a couple of scratches need sorting.
Thoughts with those struggling and not feeling at their best.

Good morning from north Wales where it is dull and damp.
Yesterday we had torrential rain and we got soaked to the skin several times.
The four teenagers could not do the outdoor zip wire so went caving instead.
They returned with an hour long video of their experience, my goodness it was scary looking.
DS, DIL and I travelled on the Ffestiniog railway to Porthmadog. DS booked us into the first class carriage, what a treat.
I have wanted to do this trip for a very long time, my father was a builder of model steam trains and it was his ambition to drive one of the engines but only a few people a year are given the opportunity.
A piece of trivial information, the engine yesterday was the one that inspired Oliver Postgate to create Ivor the engine.
GD1 wants to visit Portmeirion today so she will drive herself there, the rest of us are staying closer to home as we are out to dinner tonight, early celebration for DIL's birthday.
Have a good day.
Good morning from a sunny W Kent. A lot of help from the dentist yesterday and I am to see how things go for a week or two.
Hopefully lunch out with DD1 and family. Enjoying some good chats with her but the time is slipping away so fast
Best wishes
Good morning everyone from Inverness where we’ve light grey cloud
I’m back to the gym today, I need the exercise after a very lazy week! I’m looking forward to seeing all the friendly gym ladies and catching up on the news. After that a walk by the river and a bit of shopping in town.
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐
Good morning all and it’s bright but pleasantly cool here in Essex.
DS1 and family have eventually arrived back home from Malta. They were due home but have been delayed nearly 36 hours because of Southend airport being closed after the plane crash there. They got home at 2 this morning and it’s DIL’s 50th birthday today.,. They’ve had to cancel today’s festivities but she’s having her family gathering on Saturday.
Dh is going fishing today with a friend. He’s looking forward to it and I hope he’s up to it. 🙏. I’m a bit worried 🫤.
I’m meeting my friend for coffee and maybe lunch, she wants to treat me for my birthday which is next week, but she’ll be away.
Eldest DGD is coming back to Essex today for a week. It’s her 23rd birthday tomorrow and she has a lot planned. We’ll see her at the weekend.
I hope all poorlies are feeling a little better and those who have mountains to climb are coping and feeling some progress. 🙏.
Take care 🌼
Good morning from a warm S E Essex.
Busy day here, school performance by the 10yr old, then I am off to the gym. Then back here to pack my bags to go to AS3’s to teen sit for a week. They are right by the sea, so I am treating it as a small holiday (Sar53’s neck of the woods)
Enjoy your day 🙋♀️
Good morning everyone from mid Essex. Blue sky and sunshine again this morning, but it feels cool and I had a good sleep last night. We had a few spots of rain yesterday, and a shower late in the evening, not enough to do any good but welcome anyway.
A cooler day yesterday, with a stiff breeze, this seems to have been a windy summer so far. I’m going to a nearby retail park this morning to get a birthday present for one of the DGDs, who will be seven soon.
gm the FAB cafe this morning sounds interesting - I hope the music is enjoyable and that you aren’t too exhausted with all the extra catering!
Have the best day possible everyone.
Good morning from a bright and sunny Essex coast. I'm awake early but sitting in bed with my cup of tea and my book.
I shall go into town this morning for a few bits and I'm having my hair cut this afternoon.
DH is now in the marina in Middleburg where he will stay for a bit. He has discovered they have a launderette so will make use of that next week.
DD2 sent some lovely pictures of their holiday in Majorca. Youngest DGD has had an ear infection but has been well looked after by the local doctor.
Have a lovely day everyone, best wishes to all xx
Good morning from Shropshire.A sunny day forecast.
Yesterday we had heavy rain all day which has hopefully filled the water butts. It was good to have a day off watering the veg plot.I didn’t get to my lunch with my friend as literally just as we were setting off I was very sick.I was so disappointed not to meet up but as my friend said we still have our meet up to look forward to now!
Today DH has a pre diabetic review and we will do a food shop.Reading and relaxing this afternoon.
Hope your appointment goes well Mick.
Thoughts with Bellasnana and other absent friends.
Have a good day everyone🌻🦩
Good morning from Cambridgeshire. It was a very cool evening with (a little) much needed rain overnight.
Today I am meeting a very dear friend for lunch and trying a new venue to both of us. Our friendship is one of over 50 years.
Thinking of those in particular who are struggling 💐
Have a good day everyone
Good morning from a cloudy N. Bucks. Forcast is much the same with a little bit of sun later.
Many thanks to all of you who sent birthday greetings yesterday. I had a lovely day . The weather was very windy and we had some rain but I am used to that for my summer birthday😀.
Today I have a manicure and pedicure appointment and then
lunch with friends.
Hope the day is good to all especially those of you with troubles and illness to cope with.
Good morning from sunny South Lanarkshire, I’m delighted to see the sun after yesterday’s monsoon-like deluges.
It was fairly quiet in the charity shop, can’t blame people for not wanting to get drenched though it made for a long shift.
A friend came round last night as she wanted me to teach her how to crochet. I think she was surprised by how tricky she found just learning how to hold the hook and yarn.
Childminding day today. DS isn’t at work so we really aren’t needed but it will be good to spend time with him too. The plan is to take the older two to the beach but not their local one for a bit of a change. The youngest will be at nursery.
Hoping everyone has as good a day as possible.
Good morning Mick and everyone from a brightening morning in Cheshire. It poured with rain yesterday, so a welcome rest from watering. Plants too expensive to neglect, but it can feel like a chore in a long hot spell.
Today I'm going to bake as I did none during the heatwave so the cupboard is bare. I like to have something homemade for friends who call and there some bananas which need using today.
I'm gripped by a series on Netflix. Light of my Lion, a family story with a brother who is autistic and the acting is stunning. That's my day.
I wish all a good day; hope all goes well at the hospital Mick. Kind thoughts to all with mountains to climb.
Good morning all from a soggy Glasgow after torrential rain yesterday. Today promises to be wall to wall sunshine before returning to more rain again tomorrow.
Parts of the garden and the drive are a quagmire which meant I needed wellies to take the wheelie bins out to the pavement last night. They will stay at the back door until things are back to normal….soon I hope.
No plans to go out today but I may escape to DD1s and do some gardening there with her.
Best wishes to all for a good day and hopefully some respite for those with troubling times.
Here in France the schools broke up at the end of June!
Good Morning from damp-to-drizzly Mid-Lancs. Make the most of this week because next week we'll be in the throes of the schools Summer Hols......
Good morning from a dull, warm but dry part of La Sarthe. Yesterday was pleasantly cooler with a welcome breeze but no rain.
We shopped in Lidl yesterday where I bought a couple of bedside lamps for my UK flat. For the rest of the day I continued a book I’m enjoying called Versions of Us by Laura Barnett. To my shame I read little except when I stay here. DH finished mowing the weeds that mostly constitute the lawn now.
Happy hump day! 🦩🥰🇫🇷💐🦩
Morning all from West Oxfordshire.
It is lovely to be home, although we had a wonderful holiday. ‘There’s no place like home!’
Elder son picked us up from the airport and drove us home. He stayed the night and drove back to Kew at the crack of dawn.
We have a busy day. I will pop over to my neighbour and give her a couple of treats for feeding the cats. It is the U3A lunch and afterwards we will collect our bits of pottery. We have decided, unless it is all absolutely dire, to carry on this shared hobby.
It is WI tonight. A Buckingham Palace footman will give a talk. The competition is a Royal article. I just happen to have a photograph, which I bought from the Royal Collection, of Victoria, Albert and all their nine children at Osborne House.
Have a good day everyone.
Good morning from cool, grey south Glos where we had some very welcome rain yesterday late afternoon, not particularly heavy but better than none. DH was driving back from town and 2 miles away he said it was monsoon-like with the wipers barely coping.
Tiddler got a bath after our early walk yesterday, she’s very keen on rolling and was decidedly grubby with some dubious stains!
We will do a walk from the village again today, the scenery down across the valley is lovely, I never tire of it. DH will probably go back for a coffee later, it seems to be his regular habit now.
Homemade shepherds pie and veg for dinner, something simple but tasty.
Best wishes to you all 🌹
Good morning from a clear Bristol. We had showers most of the day, never very much but enough to freshen the air. I’d be surprised if we got more than about 3mm.
Today is going to be full on. A Beatles tribute band, curiously called “the Fab twins” is going to be playing in the church this morning during our regular FAB cafe. The vicar is expecting around 100 people. I sincerely hope not, but it would be nice to have a lot of happy guests cheerful bopping (if they want to) to the strains of 60s music.
In the afternoon, I have the monthly Ladies’ guild. I shall be wiped out by evening.
I was interested to see you getting Bakewell “tarts” in Bakewell. When we were there last year, they were emphatically called “pies”!
May you all have an excellent cooler day, with all smoothed out for you.
Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩
Good Morning Everyone,
Its a bright clear start over brackley this morning, after some attempts to rain late yesterday.
Today,a routine change I have a out patients appointment at the Horton in Banbury early afternoon.
