Delicious cakes, GrannyIvy and I spotted the Le Creuset mugs!
Good afternoon
Very warm and humid here today but no rain forecast until tomorrow. It keeps looking threatening though, but I hope to get the bedding dry 🤞.
Welcome YogaKnit. A fine crop of onions there. I take it from your user name that you also enjoy yoga and knitting?
Those cup cakes look tempting GrannyIvy. Shall I put the kettle on? 😂
Enjoy the rest of the afternoon folks, and all of you feeling under par, I hope you soon feel better.
EkwaNimitee anything undesirable in my garden used to be thrown into the field behind me. Sadly houses were built on the field a few years ago, so have to dispose of slugs etc elsewhere!
Welcome yogaknit
Good morning everyone from cloudy damp Lancashire.
MrB and I went for our walk early today as the forecast is not good. It was raining quite heavily as we were heading home.
Hope you’re feeling a bit better today Harrigran.
Glad your mum was having a good day Susan.
Hope the hospital appointment goes well Marydoll.
Hello Yogaknit
Sorry to hear your DH is hospitalised FGT2.
Thinking of our poorly Grans and families, as always.
Have the best day you can everyone 🌹
Roses, I only have neighbours' gardens over the fence now.
In my former home, I did have a field, which is where they went. I once read that they have a good homing instinct and could come back so I tried an experiment with them. I painted bright nail varnish on their shells before launch and then waited to see if any ever came back. I never saw any and couldn't draw any conclusions about homing instincts.
Welcome Yogaknit. Like Luluaugust, I am in Kent too!
Oops. Sorry Yogaknit I didn’t take in the bit that you live in Kent! 😊
Welcome Yogaknit from one Kent dweller to another 🙂

Good morning from a bright and sunny Essex coast.
I have some shopping to do this morning and some investigating this afternoon. I won't bore you with the details but it's to do with the small amount of cladding on our block.
DD1 and family set off for Thailand last night. She sent a lovely picture from Heathrow of five very smiley faces. I now have both daughters and my DH out of the country.
I'm going to a friend's for dinner this evening, she's cooking Paella which I love and she's a great cook.
TIB and my book for the next hour.
Have a lovely day everyone, best wishes to all xx
Your post reminded me of the time our daughters, their husbands and our grandchildren all went abroad on holiday together. The plane’s route actually went over our garden and my husband and I stood outside watching their plane as it flew overhead.
It suddenly occurred to me that our entire family was on that plane!
Good morning to you Yogaknit I’m guessing those are your hobbies? 😊
Lovely to have you join us. We are a curious bunch And we like to know The area where you live And what the weather is like this morning!
Landscaping is almost but not quite finished yet Grammaretto. Now that it is all taking shape I can say, I’m pleased with it, also relieved that my plan turned out just as I hoped it would.
Safe journey home from ‘Ulster’ Greyduster😉.
Welcome Yogaknit great crop
Good morning from a very warm and sunny Kent. This is my first post on Gransnet but I have been reading the forums for a few days and love reading these daily update threads from everyone. Could I please join? My job of today was to lift the onions which I've already done, and proudly attach a photo!
Good Morning from a bright, breezy Durham. Rain is forecast later.
Just a day at home - admin, laundry and some time in the garden, then an evening walk with DD2’s Little Dog. I’ve eaten very little this week, but not happy that I’ve put on 3 lbs!
Mick I don’t know how underweight you are, but when my friend was looking after her Mum she was told little and often, plus lots of snacks - scones with cream and jam, coffee made with milk and to add cream to porridge and scrambled eggs, etc. However, I don’t know if that would aggravate your bowel problem. I think Complan would be a good start, but perhaps ask your surgery for a referral to a dietician.
Sorry to hear you are so unwell again MD and that FGT’s. Dear Man has been hospitalized.
Best wishes to all. X
Morning from my bit of South Lanarkshire, warmish but overcast.
DGD did a great job yesterday removing rust from a couple of wrought iron garden chairs yesterday, she took before and after pictures as evidence for her work for her D of E project and will continue next week. It was lovely to spend time with her.
I’ve a couple of appointments to make this morning, feet and face, and then lunch with some former colleagues. It’s so nice to still be having this regular catch up every few months, 20 years down the road.
Well done Iris grandMattie and lovely photographs baubles
The inside of Dumfries House is also well worth a visit.
Wishing everyone a good day x
A late morning all from West Oxfordshire. I’m still catching up on my sleep. We had to get up so early on holiday.
A quiet day I think. Laundry and ironing.
Annoyingly, my left big toe is very painful. It’s not gout - I suffer from that. I slightly damaged the nail by dropping a hairdryer in it and then when trying to trim it, made a hash of it. If it still hurts in Monday I’ll have to do an engage Consult. It’s definitely swollen and possibly oozing. Oh well,
OH saw his bees yesterday. They weren’t happy!
Have a good day.
Going to be a hot day so will do a village shop and then retreat indoors with paper and book. These days hot weather wipes me out so a lazy day ahead.
Good morning all from a sunny, but wet Glasgow.
GM, I had to laugh at your comment about staying in your own domain At our recent fête, I said the same. It didn't happen. The person designated to collect money from stalls, was so incompetent
and too busy cultivating our MP, that I ended up with pockets of cash and post it stickers!
Stallholders kept appearing with wads of notes, because the collector was nowhere to be seen.
Yesterday did not go to plan, due to the fact I felt really ropey. Our plans with Babydoll had to be changed. I couldn't have walked anywhere, I was so breathless and my joints were protesting so badly, I needed additional pain relief.
In addition, BabyD, was extremely clingy and wouldn't let Daddy leave. It seems she has been doing this a lot recently.
Years of dealing with pupils like this, have made me a ^ hard woman 😉), so I firmly sent DS on his merry way.
Two minutes later, she was snuggled up to Papa, demanding breakfast and Babyshark.🤣
Our garden makeover is still ongoing, so the landscaper, DH, decided we could stay in the garden and get some work done. Babydoll, was stripped down to her nappy and her puddle suit and wellies put on.
I suggested we needed another statue to fill a gap (I have a penchant for them) and too my utter amazement, DH agreed. The only problem, our favourite garden centre is in Fife!
BabyD had a wonderful time, playing in the garden, pebbles, ( to put in the fountains) water and dirt are her favourite toys.
We have some solar water features and and a mains one, with a spinning glass ball. She has claimed it as her own. Unfortunately DD and *Dollie" have also claimed it, once I'm gone! It is a family joke that DD has put stickers with her name on it on various garden items.
A bit more tidying of the garden was done, some items replanted and DH put down more pebbles. ( He has become quite obsessive about them.) I had bought BabyD a child's sweeping brush, so she had great fun helping Papa organise the pebbles.
Her speech and understanding are developing so quickly. I'm amazed at how articulate, she has become. She told me that her puddle suit was too tight and she was indeed correct!
Off I went to order one, which became two, for I managed to save £56 in the Regatta sale.
I could not believe how expensive they have become.
The downside is that she is a very determined wee girl and will not give up, until she gets what she wants! Both DS and I agree she reminds us of my late mother, a very strong and difficult (thrawn) lady!!
Today I too, need to do a supermarket sweep, pick up my prescriptions and then attend a hospital appointment. Being the
difficult independant-- woman I am, I told DH, I intended to go myself.
Lately, I have felt I am a burden to everyone and it saddens me.
He has insisted on coming with me.
Corner, I hope the nausea subsides, it is so debilitating.
Roses, you must be feeling so uncomfortable, I hope the rash clears soon.
Have as pleasant a day as you can folks. Special thoughts forcall on here, who are quietly struggling.
Pleased to see you posting, Maw. 💐
Good morning from a brightening northwest coast.
I had to go into town yesterday with forms for my solicitor regarding unknown shares which have been unearthed after my DH died.
Enjoyed a nice panini and then a FaceTime with sister in the south.
I’ve found a series from the 70s on YouTube I like, The Golden Bowl by Henry James, I do enjoy an intelligent period drama.
I have to read a little before I sleep and finished The Children by Edith Wharton. I was hoping for a happy ending, but she’s too fine a writer to provide a Hollywood ending. On to my next book.
Finally some roses I put in a while ago have decided to flower.
Final meeting of our art group today followed by an Italian meal.
Thoughts to all🌺
Good morning from Cambridgeshire. It is a humid grey morning here and the garden did get a soaking late evening/ overnight.
I have had a very busy social last couple of days and looking forward to a quiet day today. I need to bake some cupcakes for the little ones and a couple of hours babysitting early evening. They finish school today and are both very tired. The 11 year old has had three transition days in senior school and has loved it but exhausted. It is her annual dance show weekend a big rehearsal tonight and two shows tmrw.
The summer holidays are full of highs and lows as the little ones bounce between their two homes and others who experience this will know what I am saying. They have a strong bond with each other which is lovely to see.
Thinking of those struggling and wishing all a pleasant peaceful day.
EkwaNimitee I just spluttered my coffee everywhere reading about your snails….. mine get launched over the back fence into the woods 🚀 🐌
Morning from S Hants, high cloud, sun due soon, hopefully not as oppressive as yesterday.
That’s taken its time to go Roses how flipping annoying for you.
My car was returned yesterday, scratches fixed, we then visited by daughter for the last POA signatures, I’ll post it off today.
Bedding to wash, Tesco delivery and I need a new watch battery, I keep looking at an empty wrist.
Pub tonight.
I’m hoping for some rain later - preferably after the washing is dry.

Good morning Mick and everyone from a Carlisle of sun and light cloud.
Yesterday morning I was frazzled after a broken night's sleep so I just pootled around with little odd jobs including checking my cupboards for outdated food and stuff I'd forgotten I had. Knowing I would be useless for the rest of the day, I treated myself to an extra coffee late morning. That turned out to do the trick without upsetting last night's sleep which was satisfactory.
In the afternoon I was up to some gardening. I removed all my spent pea plants and now have a bare bit to ponder over...what if anything to put in it for the winter. I have been finding monster snails on the foliage, demolishing it but fortunately leaving the pea pods for me. I have had no mercy on the snails, thinking of the multitude of offspring they could produce. So it's a flying lesson onto my patio followed by the great boot of Ekwa! Excludes me from being a buddhist I guess.
Today I'm off to the garden centre and will see how the new bypass works are getting on, assuming I can get through as I did last week, otherwise it's a trek through the city.
The rest of the day may find me doing some odd job or two but I have to think ahead to my Oz/NZ trip and plan excursions. Book reading will also continue.
A pity you don't know what caused that rash Roses, hopefully it does not cause permanent scarring.
Do have a good day everyone if you can.
Good morning everyone from a cloudy south coast. Rain is forecasted but not until tomorrow so I’ll do a small load of washing today to be on the safe side.
Housework this morning but sciatica is niggling so I can’t say I’m all that enthusiastic.
Hope everyone has the best day possible.
