Our AC have air conditioning in all their upstairs rooms, absolute bliss for really hot nights. Not at all noisy, you can barely hear them.

One hasn’t any central heating upstairs and their air conditioning units blow hot air in the winter.

I am asthmatic and have eye problems the air-con has never exacerbated either.

We have ceiling fans in all upstairs rooms and are seriously considering changing to air conditioning units.

Yes we have one in our conservatory, it does the downstairs. A big bulky thing, that is pumped outside & is really noisy. Only use it now & again.

Yes I know AC can be noisy.. on a holiday to Singapore some 20yrs Agi, I caught air con disease whereby I couldn’t breathe and had to get inhaler- this was very scary and we were staying with friends who recognised the symptoms and gave me an inhaler -know thats extreme- but do wonder if u have any breathing difficulties or dry eye syndrome, if they should warn you of this?

Be mindful of the fact that some can be very noisy.

I bought a Black and Decker air con unit 2 weeks ago. Works well. Cools tbe room it is in. We used it last week durung the very hot spell and I expect to use it this summer and summers to come as and when we get more heatwaves. It is also a dehumidifier.

Sorry Bea cost about £100, minimal running costs thus far.

I’ve got a chiller unit from ProBreeze, you do put water in it, works great and it’s on wheels.

I have a portable one, which my kind d.i.l. Picked up from some sale or the other. It looks like old portable calor gas heater.
But this one is electric but quite complicated - you’ve got to put water into this thing . I’ve given up on it. It’s in my garage now….. hopefully, d.i.l. won’t notice 😂

So at my local hair salon I heard two/three ladies saying they were thinking of Air Con units.. know the Govt are advertising heat pumps but thought maybe an Air Con unit would be more needed if/now we are getting warmer spring/summers..
know in the US and Australia most homes have them installed already.. my 2 fans just move around warm air but wondered what the initial costs and running costs were- any experiences or info here ?
