In *soop’s absence I’ve opened the door, fluffed the cushions and replenished the buffer.
Blossoming you have more patience than me with that bracelet, how delicate.
Tough times SueD I hope today went well for Thursday.
Yesterday’s quiz was a record 54 in attendance, not bad for a village on a Monday, we caught up with quiz mates, but failed to get in the top three. Before that I went to see a physiotherapist and came away with a bunch of knee exercises, I’ve crepitus apparently!
Today was washing, managed to whip it in before some rain unexpectedly came down.
With 🌹to soop and others struggling.
cornergran I’ll miss your updates, I do hope you both improve soon, take care x
Morning, just popping in to check how everyone is. There is an air of sadness in our lovely kitchen.
Sending hugs to everyone who needs one.
I’ve been reading everyone’s news and send hugs in commiseration, celebration and consolation - and just because I can 🙂.
The new iPad is proving a challenge because of the change in the way it operates . I will prevail with the aid of Apple videos and summoning more patience than I’ve had for a while.
We’re so pleased to have finally had the loft space properly insulated. A struggle to remove and replace stuff stored up there (not that much, just awkward) but really worth it
Relief when our new bank cards arrived, ten days after posting rather than the 3-5 advised.
Mr C is unhappy, the surgery physio can offer nothing further for his foot and has referred to secondary services and their very long waiting list. She was adamant he should use a stick in the meantime, Mr C’s face was a picture. I’d suggested the same to be met by a firm refusal. He’s given in although he sees it as embarrassing which amused me as he encourages me to use a stick. A bright blue (his choice) adjustable stick will arrive tomorrow. Will it be used? Maybe.
Our granddaughter is calling to see us tomorrow after work, she’s off to university on Saturday. There’s a family goodbye breakfast with her that morning but it will be so good to have a little time on our own. We’ll miss her.
That’s all our news. It’s felt a busy time and to be honest neither of us have felt on top form. Two friends are on end of life care, another, resident in a nursing home has somehow sustained bruising and a a broken wrist. There are safeguarding investigations causing huge stress to her daughter who turns to me for support as does the friend who is facing the loss of both parents.
Rotator cuff pain is back with me (that’s loft clearing for you) and Mr C is hobbling. We were joking we’d not make a decent body between us but of course we’re fortunate in that both will pass. In the meantime I’m off to the quiet corner to rebuild resources. I’ll be reading, especially looking out for poorly folk and their carers, but may well not post for a while. Go carefully everyone.
Very quiet here tonight. I think we’re all feeling the sadness.
Thinking of Soop, Fgt and Blossoming in particular and all with mountains to climb.
My highlight today, dgd called in on her way to school to ask if I wanted to take her picture as it was her first day in year six!! Of course I did 😀. Where do the years go. It doesn’t seem two minutes since I was taking her to nursery thre days a week.
Sleep well everyone.
Thank you Jax and enjoy your time in Cornwall- I’ve spent many happy holidays there with the children when they were youngsters. Sorry to hear your sunflowers have taken a battering today!
So many places in the UK we haven’t been, Nannytopsy that sounds delightful.
Safe journey back brook sounds like an adventure.
A blustery day with showers, I had to be careful opening the car door at the library or the wind would’ve snatched it away. Books replenished, I really don’t like not having a few ‘new to me’ books at home.
We’re off to Cornwall soon for a few days, so I spent time today looking up things to do and possible restaurants for dinner, kept me quiet for ages.
Our garden is happier with some rain, but my poor sunflowers face planted on the lawn today, I must rescue some seeds.
Hope your thumb is improving llfl, that soop is comfortable and all with challenges at home are having a gentle evening.
Hi kitchen pals 👋
Just checking in, we’ve been enjoying three packed days in Copenhagen, such a beautiful city with so much to see and do. We’re just back at the hotel now and heading home tomorrow
I’ve still got to catch up on all the kitchen news but hope everyone is doing ok, especially Soop, take care all x
That’s very industrious UTBB! We have seen so many gannets today! We did Flamborough Head and Bempton Cliffs ( where my friend and I both got stung by wasps!!). There were a good number of seals and even Minke whales in view. The weather tomorrow looks awful, so there could be some knitting!
Love to the soops, FGTs, Blossoming, Neine and all with cares.
Good evening.
I must just comment on Grannmarie’s post about the chicken.
Even a small one is too much for me now, I just buy portions.
It is not just cooking for one, in my case it is my appetite.
Today I have made a pack of 500 grams of steak mince do 3 individual cottage pies and 3 portions of bolognaise sauce, all now in the freezer.
I hope our poorlies and their loving carers are doing ok .
It is a difficult time and takes time and energy to cope, but somehow we do.
Good evening, lovely Kitchen people. Thinking of our wonderful Soop, hope she is comfy and cosy in Oban, enjoying visits from MrSoop and her DS. Hoping and praying that she can return home soon with the best possible support for her care and comfort. 💕🙏
So glad that you have Himself home, FGT, he'll appreciate your TLC.💕
Thinking of the Blossomings, SueD and family, and all with illness, worries or sorrow. Hope Dustyangel and her DH are doing OK.
Nannytopsy, enjoy your Yorkshire break, I hope you sleep better tonight!😴
YiaYia, good to hear that your DH felt up to doing some painting, is it artistic 🎨 or domestic?🤣
Grandmabatty, glad to hear you're relaxing now, those wee laddies are real characters!
Jaxjacky, good to hear about your S and B class, I'm hoping it helps. 🤞
Hope your cortisone injection helps, Ladyleftfieldlover. 🤞
Hello 👋 Gillgran!
Good luck with your renovations, Grannygravy, it'll be amazing when it's all done!
Mass this morning, lit candles and offered prayers for all who need/ wish them. Then home in time for Popmaster and a cup of tea before meeting DSis1 at Aquafit. I'm enjoying this class, can't do everything but I can keep moving for 45 minutes which must help! Chicken pasta for dinner, I can't believe how far a chicken goes now...
Wishing everyone a peaceful Tuesday evening and a good night's sleep.
TOYA, NNGB.
FGT it was very speedy. I only ordered it yesterday afternoon.
Sounds a ‘different kind of bliss’ Grandmabatty. What we don’t have for a while we appreciate all the more when it’s back. 😊
That was quick service & delivery of a new tv. I’m impressed.
Tell me about it grannygravy! My walls are grey when I thought the sample was magnolia.
Listen! Can you hear that? It is the sound of peace, perfect peace. The boys are long gone home and I'm in my dressing gown watching my new tv.
The boys were pretty good today. I could hear giggles and when I went through, they were both in dgs2's bed, hiding under the duvet. Breakfast was quick and painless, school clothes on and teeth brushed and then off to school/nursery. I then got footed it back home for the tv men who arrived quickly too. Old tv removed, new one set up by them. Then I tidied up the house and got the myriad of bags the boys had, put in the dining room out of the road. I spent a lot of the afternoon setting up the tv with Netflix, Prime etc before I picked up the boys. They both had had good days. They were barely in the door when mummy and daddy arrived. I think they missed the boys as much as the boys missed them. And away they went, with all the washing done and dried for them. Since then I have luxuriated in the silence. And the tidiness.
Have a good evening Kitcheners.
Blossiming 🌸
Hi all, thanks Grannmarie, we were fourth again, our default!
I go to stretch and balance class once a week, it’s very good, I try and do a mini version at home every other day.
A quiet day, weather is showery, but the weekend is looking better.
What a joy those young boys are gBatty, certainly keep you on your toes.
👋👋 neine
I’m missing Blossoming
Day 8 of the builders, why does paint on walls look nothing like the samples 🤷♀️
DH is being exceptionally patient, in as much as offering to get the finished bedroom and playroom repainted if I cannot match curtains, duvets, cushions, rugs etc 💙
(((Hugs))) to all in need
Thinking of you all in this friendly kitchen, especially those with added problems & worries for themselves & their loved ones. x
Hello kitchen people - and Niene! Good to hear from you.
I’ve had my cortisone injection in my left thumb. It stung a bit and is now gently throbbing.
OH will cook dinner as the physio said to rest it.
I hope all is well with the FGT2S and the Soops.
Have a good evening. OH is out so I may watch the Bake Off and the Sewing Bee.
Morning all! It’s about 3.30 😞
We are away in Yorkshire for a few days, with friends. Came to bed earlier than normal and of course we have both woken at silly o’clock. We opted for the downstairs bedroom. It’s beautiful but no windows to open so I am steaming!
Love to all of our poorlies and everyone in need of a hug.
Hello 👋 Neine!
Happy birthday to YiaYia's DGS and to Imogen, cool cake! DGS1 returned safely from his trip to Barcelona with friends, they had a fantastic time, he sent me some stunning photos.
Thank you, lovely ladies, for the kind wishes after my fall. I've booked myself into the Strength and Balance class at our Sports Centre, it's on the same morning as my Aquafit, hopefully I'll have time for a coffee between classes. 🤞 I'll make enquiries about having a hand rail fitted to the offending steps!
DS1 came late morning, helped me with some of his Dad's things. Then I spent the rest of the afternoon ironing in front of the TV 📺, watching favourite episodes of A Place in the Sun, brought back happy memories.
Sounds like a happy day with your wee boys, Grandmabatty. I think I know that toyshop, it's like Santa's workshop. Be sure to put your feet up when the parents return!
Roast chicken for dinner, it'll do a couple of days. Quick tidy up before Monday's TV quiz night. Good luck for your quiz, Jaxjacky!
TOYA, especially Soops, FGTS, Blossomings and all with illness, worries or sorrow.
Wishing everyone a peaceful Monday evening and a good night's sleep, especially UTBB and Cornergran. 😴😴
A very quick pop in to say Hello... Not going to bore you with the last few weeks. Sending you all love and prayers as the kitchen is troubled and suffering just now in so many ways it seems.
You do so well with those two boys Grandmabatty. Kudos to you dear lady. I love reading about them. Thank you for sharing. x
Happy birthday to your dgs yiayia. I hope he's having a lovely day. Jaxjacky I love the cake!
The boys are looking forward to their mummy and daddy coming home tomorrow. So am I! School and nursery today and they both had a good day. I've ordered a new TV which will be delivered tomorrow morning and the old one removed. Hurray! I took the boys to a toy shop in town and let them choose something new. They were quite happy although dgs2 still wants everything that his brother has. However, they are currently eating dinner -sausages, fish fingers, potato scone and chips- and are being good. Dgs2 will go for a bath at half six, supper and a story and bed for the back of seven. Dgs1 bath, supper and a story and then he can play his Nintendo in bed til eight. Then I'll have steak and sausage casserole and collapse into bed. Have a good evening Kitcheners
