In *soop’s absence I’ve opened the door, fluffed the cushions and replenished the buffer.
Blossoming you have more patience than me with that bracelet, how delicate.
Tough times SueD I hope today went well for Thursday.
Yesterday’s quiz was a record 54 in attendance, not bad for a village on a Monday, we caught up with quiz mates, but failed to get in the top three. Before that I went to see a physiotherapist and came away with a bunch of knee exercises, I’ve crepitus apparently!
Today was washing, managed to whip it in before some rain unexpectedly came down.
With 🌹to soop and others struggling.

Kindest thoughts go to Soop and her loved ones.
A very difficult time to negotiate..
A nothing day for me apart from a couple of hours with my friend and neighbour, she is having banking problems again.
It is all her doing, fortunately her S and D have POA and are sorting it all out for her.
She gets in a state about it all.
She now needs a new CH boiler, oh dear, I am keeping well away from that can of worms.
Have a decent evening all.

GG. I sympathise. Some years ago we had to have all our downstairs floors removed, dug up and replaced. We had to move into rented accommodation while the work was done (about 6 weeks). Fortunately the insurance company paid. It was horrible.

Goodness GG13 major upheaval, you’ll need a wooden spoon to bite on or your lips will get sore 😏

No wooden spoon, just copious amounts of wine.

Jaxjacky the building contractors were here 7 years ago (inside and out) the insurance assessor had decided we had heave, despite us disagreeing.

We never signed off on the claim (our insurance company have been absolute stars)

After much discussion (rows) they decided to look under our hall floor were we thought the problem was and lo and behold two of the main beams had twisted.

Every room/ceiling in the house has cracks all need taking back to bricks.

Not looking forward to having the entire downstairs floor coming up.

Waiting for the scaffolding to be installed outside, I have threatened that everything and everyone will be covered with fairy lights if they are here in December 🎄

Thank you from me too, Baggs. As always, love to soop, McSporran and their family.

Glad you escaped from the bedroom, GG.

A hard day Grannmarie flowers

And, of course, love and strength to our FGT and family and everyone with sadness in their lives.

Jaxjacky Wed 27-Aug-25 19:00:04

Thank you again Baggs you are unstinting, good news on visitors for soop and hopes for proper home soon.
Thank you for your good wishes, friend of my son committed suicide, friend of my daughter’s is in hospital with liver failure, in their 30’s all of them, harsh.
We eventually had some hefty rain showers this afternoon, I'm pleased, more would be welcome.
Sounds like some serious work going in GG13!!
Book club today, the new one looks interesting, the last one didn’t appeal.
Thinking of those having tough times, Blossoming FGT and those in the quiet corner soldiering on 🌹

GrannyGravy13 Wed 27-Aug-25 18:16:12

Thank you Baggs for the update on our dear soop a visit from her son and partner will bring balm to her soul 🌸

I won’t bore you all with my day, just to say that Day 2 of the building work had me stuck in the bedroom as DH had not told the builders I was in there before they sealed the door to minimise the dust as they took down the landing ceiling…

Grannmarie Wed 27-Aug-25 18:07:51

Thank you, Baggs, for Soop's latest news. Hoping and praying that her treatment goes well, and that she gets all the necessary assistance to return home soon to her beloved MrSoop. She'll be looking forward to seeing her son and partner too, a family visit will do her a power of good. 💕💐

Blossoming, I hope you are feeling a bit better now, sorry to hear you've been ill. 💐

Jaxjacky, sorry to hear that your DGC are experiencing sad times, I hope things improve for them very soon. 💕

Thinking of the FGTs, sending love and prayers to them, and to all with illness, worries or sorrow. 💕🙏

Today my sons and I attended the Requiem Mass for DH's niece's husband. Standing room only in the church, such a huge turn out for a well known young man. I found it quite emotional, I'm so sorry for his young widow and sons.

I managed my Aquafit class yesterday, but must try harder with my physio exercises, I'm afraid I don't have Blossoming's good discipline!

Wishing everyone a peaceful Wednesday evening and a good night's sleep. TOYA.

Thank you, Baggs, for the update.

I send my very best wishes & love to our dear soop & her caring husband & family. xx
Along with many others, I continue to keep them in our thoughts & prayers.

Trying times for lots, just now. Gentle group hugs. x

Charleygirl5 Wed 27-Aug-25 14:26:33

Thanks again, Baggs, for keeping us up to date. It will be lovely for her to see her son for a few days, and the sooner the care package can be sorted for her at home, the better. There is nothing like one's own bed.

Aldom Wed 27-Aug-25 14:17:37

Thank you again Baggs. As ever love and strength toSoop and her family. Kind thoughts to you. flowers

Soop news: the plan today was that soop would be taken to the Beatson Cancer Hospital to receive targeted radiotherapy. She is to be returned to Oban on Friday. Meanwhile her son and partner are coming up from down south for several days. soop is very much looking forward to that while waiting to see when her needs can be met at home. She sends love to all. So do I, especially to those with huge hurdles in front of them 🌹

gillgran Tue 26-Aug-25 22:11:28

We've been to the Norfolk coast, (we don't have internet there), so just catching up with you good folk in soop's cosy kitchen.
There is much sadness at the moment.
Sorry to hear your distressing news FGT. x

Warmest thoughts for you all. flowers

jax a shame about the quiz! I’m sorry that your children are going through such a tough time, it’s sad for both of them.
We had a couple of brief splashes of rain today which did no good whatever. One of the “showers” only fell on about a quarter of my garden, the rest of it was bone dry! Very strange.
brook I often enjoy a mini magnum in the garden when it’s hot. I’ve had quite a lot of them this summer!
I visited my dementia friend this afternoon, she is asleep a lot of the time now, it’s very sad. Her DH is pleased to have some company though and we have some interesting conversations about our younger days!!
I hope blossoming has had a better day today.
Night night everyone.

brook2704 Tue 26-Aug-25 20:57:40

Sorry to hear that Jax so difficult to see children upset, whatever their ages
It’s been another warm sunny day here, just gorgeous. I enjoyed the gym, a coffee and then when I eventually finished the volunteering this afternoon, DH and I sat outside in the garden with a mini magnum ice cream treat
Another busy day tomorrow and then a gradual wind down before going away to Copenhagen for a few days next week
Hoping you sleep better tonight nannytopsy
Such worries and sadness in the kitchen just now, thinking of everyone in the quiet corner, take care all x

Jaxjacky Tue 26-Aug-25 20:41:49

Hi all, quiz was doing well until the music round, the kibosh for us without my daughter, both of the children are struggling with their friendship circles facing tragedy and sadness.
We’ve had not enough rain with a half hearted shower this morning, not a cold day, but breezy, tomatoes still producing but the garden looks tired and the nights are drawing in.
I really hope Blossoming is having a better day, she sounded, understandably, quite down 🌹
Baggs I hope you are well, seeing your friends in dire straights must be hard.
FGT and soops xx

NotAGran55 Tue 26-Aug-25 06:59:53

I’m so very sorry to read the devastating news for the Soops and the FGTs 💐💐

Nannytopsy Tue 26-Aug-25 05:20:02

I’ve been awake since about 3.30am with my head full of emails I haven’t sent, WI issues for this afternoon’s committee meeting, fund raising for the church roof, the state of the garden and plans for C …….. ( yes already!!) .
I have shortened DGS’s new school trousers but I have to sew labels into all his new school uniform. Unfortunately DiL hasn’t given it to me yet so DH has to fetch it today.
Everything gets out of proportion in the middle of the night doesn’t it?
I need to count my blessings instead of stressing.
Hugs to those in need. I hope you are feeling better Blossoming.

Hello kitchen people.

Blimey blossoming, what a pain.

Our cleaner came today, I went Waitrose shopping and also drove younger son to the railway station.

OH has been busy with his bees.

I’m thinking of the Soops and the FGT2S.

Sleep 💤 tight:

cornergran Mon 25-Aug-25 22:28:20

Oh heck * blossoming*. I’m so sorry. That’s miserable. You’re right. Tomorrow is another day. 🤞it’s a better one x

Blossoming Mon 25-Aug-25 22:07:29

Just to add to the train wreck that has been my day, I just threw up my dinner. Fortunately I was stool in front of the bathroom sink. I am totally fed up. Goodnight all, tomorrow is another day xx

brook2704 Mon 25-Aug-25 22:06:02

It’s been a gorgeous warm sunny day up here too, much warmer than expected. I’ve been out most of the day, volunteering all morning followed by lunch and then I met up with DD2 at the retail park this afternoon. A bit of shopping then back to hers to see the DGC after school. There’s no need to do the school pick up any more as they both make their own way to and from school, DGS walks and DGD by bike with a few other local children.
Hoping all goes to plan with the builders GG
Hope Blossoming is feeling a bit better today
Thinking of our dearest Soop, FGTs and all other kitchen pals facing difficult times just now ❤️

Redcar Mon 25-Aug-25 20:45:23

What a beautiful sunny warm day today! With just enough of a breeze to cool it a little. I also managed some time in the garden today grannygravy, I did a little sweeping of leaves off the flower beds and then just ignored the weeds and read my book.
I pulled the dwarf beans out of the trough as they had finished producing beans. I’ll replace some of the compost and plant bulbs for the spring. Last year I put some primroses in, but they all died off, probably drowned!

DD2 and family called in this morning after a weekend camping a few miles away. They were with friends, about 20 altogether and a good time was had, although it was cold at night apparently.

Good luck with the building works grannygravyI hope all goes smoothly,

Last week of the summer holidays for my granddaughters, they’ve all had a busy few weeks but I don’t think they’re looking forward to school again.

Thinking of the soops and the fgts and sending love and hugs.

It’s dark here already 😞 so night night everyone!
