In *soop’s absence I’ve opened the door, fluffed the cushions and replenished the buffer.
Blossoming you have more patience than me with that bracelet, how delicate.
Tough times SueD I hope today went well for Thursday.
Yesterday’s quiz was a record 54 in attendance, not bad for a village on a Monday, we caught up with quiz mates, but failed to get in the top three. Before that I went to see a physiotherapist and came away with a bunch of knee exercises, I’ve crepitus apparently!
Today was washing, managed to whip it in before some rain unexpectedly came down.
With 🌹to soop and others struggling.

Hello all.
Even more bites today so I also shall be sending out for witch Hazel.
My sleep is very interrupted by the itching which is quite intense.
It is very overcast here today with spits and spots of rain.
Very stressful day yesterday with my bank card being blocked.i could not get any money from the ATM , three different ones actually.
As usual getting through to the bank took ages, having to go through security twice, once in this country and then India.
All they could tell me was the card was blocked with no explanation, eventually it was miraculously unblocked , no reason whatsoever.
I haven’t been out yet to try it but I was very stressed by the whole situation.
Getting old is no fun at times.
My thoughts are very much with the poorlies and their loved ones today.
So many of us have been through it and can imagine how they feel.

Grannmarie not a chance! I was in bed at half past eight!
Today we were early to soft play and it was initially quiet but quickly filled up with screamers (dgs2 among them) children not following the rules and climbing up the slides, teenagers using the equipment and keeping smaller children off and a couple of men also using the slides etc with no children in sight. Urgh. We left early because dgs1 was unhappy and had a sore head. Probably a combination of dehydration and nerves for tomorrow. There were some tears but home and Calpol helped. He's needing a break from his wee brother who is attached to him like a limpet most of the time. I'm going to make lunch for them soon and have mine too. Enjoy your day all

cornergran Tue 12-Aug-25 11:39:02

Hello everyone. Just checking in. Hot and sunny here, a day to hide in the shade. I’m happy because the laundry has dried. Doesn’t take much smile.

Love to the soops and fgt. A hug to anyone needing one.

Thank you granmarie. Witch Hazel will be in the next shopping list. I’m a magnet for biting creatures.

Stay cool everyone.

Grannmarie Mon 11-Aug-25 22:31:51

Hoping and praying that all goes well for
Himself tomorrow
Soop on Wednesday
YiaYia's DH and DGS on Thursday
SueD's DH on Saturday...
and anyone else facing worrying times ahead.

Blossoming, I'm so glad you've seen the right doctor and things are improving for you, what a worry. šŸ’

Grandmabatty, I've hope you've relaxed with a wee medicinal ' pick me up' this evening!🤣

brook, sounds like the perfect family get together, it would do your heart good to see all your grandchildren happy together.

UsedToBeBlonde and Cornergran, have you tried Witch Hazel gel to relieve the itch of insect bites? Very soothing. I bought the pestects bracelets for going on holiday, wore a fresh one each day and came home with only one bite, that's a result for me!

Grannygravy, I had a wee sofa siesta too this afternoon, sometimes tiredness just overwhelms me. Hope you feel more like yourself soon.

Wishing everyone a peaceful Monday evening and a good night's sleep. TOYA, NNGB.

Glad you’ve had good treatment from your GP. 🫰your BP comes down quickly.
Thinking of fgt, SueD and*Yia*, waiting is so hard.
Hope Soop is soon reunited with her dh.

brook2704 Mon 11-Aug-25 21:56:00

Oh Blossoming thank goodness you spoke to such a kind supportive doctor, I hope your BP is stable from now on x

Blossoming Mon 11-Aug-25 20:33:28

Good evening Kitchen friends. I have been having some problems getting my BP meds sorted out thanks to the awful doctor that caused my hospitalisation in the first place. My BP has shot up to a dangerous level over the weekend and I’ve been feeling poorly. Fortunately I was given an emergency appointment this morning with the lovely lady doctor I saw a couple of weeks ago. She listened, looked at my medical history, understood completely what I needed and sorted it there and then. So my BP will now be heading in the right direction again. I am feeling more in control of my life, onwards and upwards from now on!

Thank you for the update Baggs, hoping Soop is soon back in Oban. And thank you JaxJacky for looking after the Kitchen,

Good luck for tomorrow FGT2

Love to you all ā™„ļø xx

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Mon 11-Aug-25 19:55:08

I could do with someone picking me up

Oh Grandmabatty that really made me chuckle. Thank you - laughter really IS the best medicine!

brook2704 Mon 11-Aug-25 19:48:56

FGT I’ll be thinking of you and your DH tomorrow and hoping for the best possible results x

Also thinking of your DH too SueD , anxious times waiting so a few days away is a good idea
And of course Yia hoping for good scan results and good results for your DGS

Baggs thank you for the update on our Soop, here’s hoping the transfer to Oban happens as quickly as possible

It’s been very warm here today but it rained most of the morning. The house is far too quiet now that DD1 and family are back in Cambridge. Everyone seemed to get on well, my two DDs are very different and so are their children but we managed ok with no family fall outs! Tomorrow it’s back to my normal routine

I’d like to add to mamaa’s thanks to Jax for keeping the kitchen going on behalf Soop, thank you Jax ā¤ļø

Hugs to those those in the quiet corner, take care all x

Redcar Mon 11-Aug-25 19:33:13

yiayia fingers crossed for good results for moth your DH and your grandson!

Poor soop and mrsoop, you really couldn’t make it up could you! Fingers crossed she can be transferred back to Oban on Wednesday!

sueDonim that’s a long wait for results of a scan. I hope you can get away from it by having some short breaks somewhere nice!

Ladyleftfieldlover Mon 11-Aug-25 18:48:00

It’s raining - what’s going on! My weather app said no rain for 10 days and now it’s raining!

Anyway, hello kitchen people.

I couldn’t go to my craft group today. Rather difficult with a bu*****d thumb!

I’ll be thinking of the FGT2S tomorrow and the Soops. I remember going for an appointment with my breast cancer surgeon where I would hear the results of a scan. By the time we got to the hospital I couldn’t speak as I was so nervous.

Have a good evening.

Grannydaisy1 Mon 11-Aug-25 17:55:43

Fgt2 Fingers crossed for you and himself tomorrow. I'll be thinking about you both

GrannyGravy13 Mon 11-Aug-25 17:47:39

Oh dear poor soop, let’s hope that Wednesday’s transfer goes ahead šŸ¤žšŸ»

I have been feeling rather weary since my return from my time away with DD and the GSs, after attacking the ironing pile and going to the gym this morning I sat on the sofa and dozed off which is unlike me.

Thinking of our dear FGT and himself 🌸

cornergran Mon 11-Aug-25 17:41:45

Oh heck baggs. Thank you for sharing the news but how frustrating for Mr and Mrs Soop.

Good luck to both your husband and grandson on Thursday yia. Big day for sure.

I’ve been out in the garden today continuing to cut down two out of control climbing roses which are no longer held up by a collapsing pergola. I’m sad about the roses but we can’t rescue them We’ll begin again in that area once family have space to cut the pergola into sizes to fit in our car, we’ll then transport the rotting wood to the tip. Suspect it won’t be soon Their lives are full. Along with the scratches and thorns I have an arm with a dozen itchy bites. It seems to be a year for biting creatures, nasty little things. Next stop is the anti histamine.

Love to you both fgt. Along I can recommend support from Maggies charity which I believe operates in your area. You’ve been such a rock for your husband, perhaps time to think of your own needs. Sending a hug.

Time for food here so I’m off. Look after yourselves everyone.

Grandmabatty Mon 11-Aug-25 17:21:44

Yiayia fingers crossed for your DH. And best of luck for your dgs.

Jaxjacky Mon 11-Aug-25 17:07:45

Hi all, the bright sun and 29.9 at 3 is now 26 and cloud, preferable.
Lots of scans and results, waiting must be intolerable for you all.
You just couldn’t write it Baggs , I agree with Mrsoop, really not on.
utbb I too was bitten Friday night, the itching has eased today, phones have been busy, must now sort lifts, quiz later - thanks Grannmarie

Yiayia4 Mon 11-Aug-25 16:52:54

Thinking of you FGT. I’m so sorry your dear DH is sufferingā¤ļø

Hoping Soop can soon be transferred to Oban.Poor Mr Soop it must be so frustrated.

My DH had his scans on Friday now the waiting game!.He sees his urology consultant on Thursday so we are hoping he may have the results.Thursday is also when our eldest GS gets his A level resultsšŸ¤žšŸ¤ž
Hope your ok Blossoming🌻

Grannmarie So good you have been having a nice time with your family.

Take care everyone.

Grandmadinosaur Mon 11-Aug-25 16:44:50

Thank you for the update baggs.

Poor soop she must be heartily fed up and to not have any transport until someone else needs transportation there really takes the biscuit.

Keeping fingers crossed for you both tomorrow fgt2 and best wishes to you and everyone else with troubles to bear.

mamaa Mon 11-Aug-25 16:11:29

Buggerations of the highest order by the sounds of it Baggs , I think Soop was very restrained in her replyšŸ˜‰
Thanks again for the updates, and šŸ¤žšŸ»Soop getting to Oban happens by Wednesday at the latest. x

merlotgran Mon 11-Aug-25 15:37:54

Thinking of you, FGT and best wishes šŸ¤ž to you both for tomorrow’s scan.
Poor soop and Mr soop. Complications with discharge and transfers just add to an already stressful time.

My best wishes to all who are having difficult times with the health of a loved one.

Baggs Mon 11-Aug-25 15:26:08

soop news: Herself has had the nasal op and is waiting to be ambulanced back to Oban. Trouble is, Glasgow cannot send an ambulance to Oban so soop has to wait for Oban to need to send a patient to Glasgow when, one hopes, it'll then take her back to Oban!

mrsoop said (and I quote precisely) "!?#@+*"

Currently it seems the likely earliest transfer to Oban will be Wednesday morning.

Ye gods!

Grandmabatty Mon 11-Aug-25 15:20:15

FGT if you can, I would suggest speaking to someone from Macmillan nurses. They can be very sympathetic and offer advice.
The boys are currently devouring a sandwich. They have been on iPads, watched tv, played with cars, made a fruit salad for mummy, drew and played in the garden as well as knocked lumps out of each other. I am currently sitting on the couch thinking about a cuppa. Dd made vegan peanut butter brownies and gave me two. I only managed half of one because they are very rich. Dgs1 gets picked up in an hour for football. Dgs2 gets picked up in two hours. I could do with someone picking me up

SueDonim Mon 11-Aug-25 12:53:09

Oh FGT, my heart goes out to you. flowers Wishing the very best outcome for your dear chap. Scan for my Dh on Saturday (NHS!) but results not until early Sept so we will try to forget about it by going away on a couple of short breaks.

Sending love to Soop and all Kitcheners. Xxx

Redcar Mon 11-Aug-25 12:34:50

Hot already today (the weather, not me) and I’m melting having just done some ironing!
Thinking of the fgts and hoping for a good outcome from tomorrow’s scan.
Also thinking of soop and her DH.
A little more gardening this afternoon I think, nothing I do is making much difference to it, it’s very brown and dusty at the moment. The hollyhocks have almost finished flowering and are falling over. I’ll cut them down when the last flowers have finished, I don’t want them self seeding everywhere again.
Have a good day everyone!
