I am ecstatic, as well as the meat draw in our local, they’ve been playing Chase the Ace weekly, my daughter won it earlier, over £10,000.
I am so pleased for her, we both are, I won’t go on, but it’s made us happy, so deserved.

I’ve had a good day, a bit of gardening but tbh now that DH has eventually retired he’s out there most days so there’s nowhere near as much for me to do 🤷‍♀️ So this afternoon I went for a walk straight from home up to Culloden Battlefield where there’s a nice cafe with a view - sat for a while with a cappuccino and eavesdropped on the many tourists conversations. There’s loads of American tourists on various tours, I think since Outlander has become so popular there’s more and more visitors there as they’ve a Clan Fraser grave marker. The shop was busy selling many Scottish souvenirs, mostly very expensive ones - nothing really tacky there

Mmm well somehow at Costco a very beautiful coatigan fell into my trolley along with some gym wear, ostrich burgers ( very lush and healthy) AdBlu for Henrietta MoHo, 2 pairs of very smart work trousers for DH and something we've never ever bought before a ready meal (taco) all prepared ...cooked chicken, coleslaw , cheese, salsa etc all ready to just assemble and eat....and even more disgustingly lazy was something called dirty fries...I hadn't a clue what they were but DH did and they looked really yummy....so guess what we had for dinner last night. On the way home we diverted slightly and went to Burnham on Sea....we hadn't been there before and we had a lovely walk along the esplanade in the sun. They have several charity shops that probably need deeper investigation at another time ( without DH who is infinitely patient but I feel mean spending his weekend trawling). We then did something utterly stupid...we played shove halfpenny (2p's actually) in the little arcade....I didn't have a clue which made it even more fun. The machine spewed out tickets by the 100s...I don't know why and we gave our haul to a little girl who most definitely knew what she was doing!!!!!. Having spent 50p each we walked out holding hands and laughing at being the oldest by a few decades from anyone else in there but still young at heart to have fun. Back home in time for the vigil Mass and prayers said for Blossoming...Grandmadinosaur, FGT, himself, SueD and Yia and for Marydoll ( I read the Good Morning post and was sad to read that she is unwell, she reminds me a lot of me).
Today the grotty weather has meant an indoor day but what possessed me to empty and rearrange the freezers I don't know....I can hardly move now ( waiting for the pain killers to kick in). DH was upstairs ( the freezers are in the basement of the cottage) and he steam cleaned the chairs and sofa so that's two of us sounding like we have Tourettes every time we move. I was full of good intentions to make green tomato chutney but that's going to have to wait.... There is only so much domestic goddess that can happen in one day!!!!!

Morning everyone!
All safely arrived at our holiday home in the vineyards of the Loire. The DGC haven’t made a peep so far , so we are sitting quietly. Leave sleeping toddlers lie, I say! The weather has been cool and rather rainy but should improve tomorrow. We are hoping to visit a vineyard or two but they are all busy grape picking at the moment and even a couple of old favourites are closed.

Evening everyone.

I’m a bit behind with the news after a few hectic days. My recovery from surgery continues to go well. However a couple of days ago it was discovered I have a blood clot in my leg. I had a very good and prompt response from the GP and DVT clinic who confirmed it was indeed a clot. I was devastated especially with my mum having one about 30 years and her treatment etc. The specialist nurse at the clinic was brilliant and went way above. I was relieved to find I needed an injection yesterday and today and then I start medication tomorrow for 3 months then that’s it. Obviously medicine has come on over the years since Mums day for which I am extremely grateful. I could have done without it though but hey ho ….

So sorry for your son Jax a terrible time.

I’ve not been to a Costco either and probably best I don’t 🤣

There’s nothing much in our loft, or that’s what I’ve been told by DH, I think whatever is in there will need to come down soon so we can go through it and either add it to the ‘stuff’ in the garage or get rid. It worked be a shame to see the dolls house going to the tip Jax I wonder if someone might be interested and give it a new lease of life ?
It’s been quite a lazy day today, I’ve been sitting in the hairdressers all afternoon, my hair feels so much better and I’ve caught up on all the news. It’s dark outside early now so the curtains are drawn and I’ve a couple of scented candles to light

Sorry, suicide prevention week.

Hi all, a quiet day after a busy one yesterday, we’ve had some late hefty showers.
What a smashing day FGT, long may they continue.
We’ve never been to Costco, maybe just as well, I might get carried away, as it is Amazon and I are best friends.
The funeral yesterday my son’s friend was tough for him and others, 31 is no age, sadly ironic it’s suicide week.
Funny lofts, my children used to love going up there now the grandchildren do, there’s little in ours, I made my two take their bits when they left home, or they went out. What there is needs a final clear out, the only big item is an old dolls house my Dad made, rather dilapidated, so I think the tip looms for that.
Tomorrow we’re forecast heavy rain and high wind, definitely a slow cooker meal
I hope Blossoming is improving and others poorly.

charleygirl I’ve spent the four years since my DH died trying to ensure I can reach everything, but osteoporosis and spinal fractures mean I’ve shrunk. There’s still a lot of stuff in the loft and I have no idea what’s up there! My DDs get boxes down every few months and we sort them out, but a lot of the boxes contain their stuff any way. Sometimes they take it away but sometimes it gets put back up there and they hope I don’t notice….

Redcar I was on my own when I moved here in early 1990, and I decided to keep my loft empty. One, but not the main reason, was that I could no longer climb the loft ladder.

Everything is reachable, but I am a hoarder, a man designed this house, and apart from the kitchen and airing cupboard, there are no cupboards.

neine I haven’t been to Costco since my DH died, I don’t need as much food now and although the huge packs of loo rolls etc were useful, we stored the surplus in the loft and I don’t go up there now I’m on my own. DD1 found a stack of kitchen rolls up there about a month ago! The bank balance always took a serious hit whenever we went! I dread to think how much I’d spend if let loose in there now!

Neine I have never yet managed to go to Costco and leave with my bank account intact!

Redcar I hope the effects of the antibiotics have eased now...I always think it's doubly hard just as you are dealing with whatever you've needed the antibiotics for in the first place so other bits of your body take revenge too😱.

We still only have a throw on the bed and no duvet yet. I hate saying goodbye to Summer and dread the onset of shorter days so fight it until I really have to give up and put on closed in shoes, jumpers and a duvet. As for the heating that won't happen anytime soon either. .
It's a Costco day today, we both wear contact lenses and they are so much cheaper there even though it's an hour's drive away. Other bits normally fall into the trolley too so it's worth the drive. DH doesn't want me driving any distance while I'm pain so hence we are tackling the M5 on a Saturday. Eek

OMG Redcar a 7 tog duvet would be too cold for me mid July. I have a 15 tog duvet all year round and when it is hot, I flip it off. I have been using a hwb for many nights. A good job we are not all the same!

Ouch brook that sounds painful. I hope the stings have calmed down now. It seems to be up to individual headteachers to decide on the school hours round here. I know that some of the seniors finish earlier on Friday afternoons, but not all of them.
charleygirl strangely the birds disappeared in August when my next door neighbours were away and obviously not putting food out for them. They haven’t realised that my neighbours are back now! So I’m hoping that the seeds will have germinated before the birds realise that there’s free food on my side of the fence!
The usual heavy shower at school pickup time today, otherwise quite a pleasant day!
The nights are getting cooler now, I got the 7.00 tog duvet out of the wardrobe today but it seems too early to put it on the bed now. Maybe next week.

Oh how nasty Brook I think vinegar is supposed to help. Dgs1 was stung at school on Thursday.
The weather here today has been sunshine and showers, some of which have been very heavy. I was at the school library this morning where dgs2 came in with his nursery and then I saw dgs1 when I had to drop off a book at his class. It was a nice way to start the day. Back home, I tidied up the kitchen, emptied and loaded the dishwasher and generally tidied up the house. I'm being inundated with fruit flies again so I'm having to deal with that. Dinner was chicken nuggets and chips with homemade chilli mayo. Not healthy but easy. Have a good evening Kitcheners.

It’s been a blustery day here today, a light shower this morning but nothing much and then sunny again this afternoon. I called into DD2s after the gym and saw both DGC who seem fine atm - lets hope it lasts. I don’t know if it’s the same elsewhere but here in the Highlands the senior schools finish at lunchtime on a Friday so DGS was enjoying his afternoon off. DGD who’s a year younger and still at primary school has to do the full day so a bit of sibling teasing goes on!
Unfortunately I got stung by a wasp when walking back through town, I felt something nipping my neck, it was painful but didn’t know what it was, thought it was something sharp on my jacket. Then a few minutes later a random stranger said you’ve a wasp in your hair and flicked it out for me. It’s swelled up a bit, I think it stung a few times but it’s nothing too bad, thank goodness. My friend who I’m with quite often is allergic so thank goodness it wasn’t her
Hoping Soop is settled back at home and can enjoy a game of scrabble with MrSoop

My cough is finally easing and I’m feeling more like my normal self again. I raked some moss off the “lawn” and threw some grass seed on the bare patches. The weather obliged by raining on it, so it’s well watered in. I wonder if the grass seed will grow!
