In *soop’s absence I’ve opened the door, fluffed the cushions and replenished the buffer.
Blossoming you have more patience than me with that bracelet, how delicate.
Tough times SueD I hope today went well for Thursday.
Yesterday’s quiz was a record 54 in attendance, not bad for a village on a Monday, we caught up with quiz mates, but failed to get in the top three. Before that I went to see a physiotherapist and came away with a bunch of knee exercises, I’ve crepitus apparently!
Today was washing, managed to whip it in before some rain unexpectedly came down.
With 🌹to soop and others struggling.

Thank you, lovely ladies, for your kind words. I'm going to Aquafit tomorrow, if I can't manage all the movements I'll just do knee bends and shoulder shrugs with the support of the water.

Happy holidays, Jaxjacky and MrJ. Great photo, DH and I loved a harbour or marina. ⛵ šŸ’•

Hello šŸ‘‹ Redcar and UsedToBeBlonde, I hope your happy memories of holidays with your DHs bring you both much comfort. šŸ’•

brook I remember following some of your South Coast walks on here, what an achievement!

Enjoy St Andrew's, and a good catch up with your DS, Grandmabatty! It's such a beautiful beach and lovely town. My brother and sister in law had me up for a wee break at their caravan in July. So relaxing, and a treat to have lunch at the Jigger Bar overlooking the Old Course. I'm invited back later this month!

Wishing everyone a peaceful Wednesday evening and a good night's sleep. TOYA, NNGB.

Enjoy your day out tomorrow grandmabatty especially seeing and spending time with your son, safe travels

Many kitcheners going through difficult times. I wish the, all well, with better days to come soon.
I too hope soop can join us when the new kitchen is opened.

Usedtobeblonde Wed 17-Sept-25 20:14:48

brook my H and I were seasoned walkers in our day.
We walked much of the coastal paths with friends in S Wales as well as South west England but our main walking love was the Lake district.
We did many of Alfred Wainright’s walks and visited many weekends and weeks when we had our caravan, being in the NW it was not far to travel.
We also did the Yorkshire Dales but that was for fun and relaxation.
Planning walks was our main holiday for many years , wonderful memories as I now can’t walk to the end of my road without a Walker!!

Grandmabatty Wed 17-Sept-25 19:55:31

Grannmarie I'm sorry to hear that you have been wielding your muscles too much! Take care.
I'm off for the day tomorrow to St Andrews. Ds asked me to come up as he's at a caravan. I don't particularly want to drive but it's the easiest option where I live.

brook2704 Wed 17-Sept-25 19:44:41

Oh grannmarie you poor thing ! I hope your aches and pains ease quickly and you’re recovered soon. I did the aqua aerobics at the gym this morning and thought of you

A lovely picture Jax sorry to hear it’s been raining but I don’t think it matters, you and MrJ can make your own sunshineā˜€ļø

Uttb I didn’t know you’d walked the coastal path, it’s amazing isn’t it! A few years ago we walked the entire 630 miles of the South West coast path, all the way round the coastline from Minehead in Somerset to Poole in Dorset It took us about 5 serarate trips down from Inverness over a couple of years. We travelled light, carried our things in backpacks and each day walked from one stop to the next, averaged about 15miles per day. Absolutely brilliant and if I thought we could do it again I’d jump at the chance, sadly I think some of the strenuous steep sections are a bit too much for us now. I remember Mevagissey really well Jax we had a lovely evening there.

Thinking of Soop, Blossoming, fgt and all our friends in the quiet corner , take care all x

Usedtobeblonde Wed 17-Sept-25 16:40:13

My H and I spent our honeymoon in Cornwall 67 years ago.
We went back frequently, with our children when they holidayed with us and then we went year after year with our touring caravan.
I love it all.
I have been trying to remember the last visit but I can’t, it was many years ago , but still a happy place.
We walked much of the coastal paths with friends, leapfrogging with cars as you do.
I hope you have a lovely holiday Jaxjacky
I hope the FGT’s have had a better day, it will soon be time for a move to a new kitchen.
I hope very much our dear hostess will be able to join us when we do.

Redcar Wed 17-Sept-25 16:12:39

Lovely photo jax . We had many happy holidays in the St Austell area and Mevagissey is a favourite place. We enjoyed the Wheal Martin China clay works too, it when my DH and I spent a holiday in Cornwall after the DDs had left home & we could please ourselves where we went! Enjoy beachcombing tomorrow.
Thinking of fgt and blossoming and the soops and hoping that today is a better day.
Have a pleasant evening everyone.

Jaxjacky Wed 17-Sept-25 16:03:28

Picture too big!

Jaxjacky Wed 17-Sept-25 16:02:39

Afternoon from a soggy St Austell, its drizzled all day, but we’ve had a lovely time exploring the Wheal Martyn Clay works, then Mevagissey. This seagull has its eyes on my pasty, when I was sat on a wet bench!
I’m thinking of FGT and himself hoping it’s a better day.
Better news corner I do understand your unhappiness at that treatment verging on incompetence.
Good old Volterol Grannmarie, a large dose of ā€˜special medicine’ tonight maybe šŸ™‚.
Tomorrow should be drier, so it’s beach day - not with a towel, deckchair and spade, just to walk and beachcomb.
I’m sure we’ll bring back significant detritus that in a year we’ll wonder what possessed us!

Grannmarie Wed 17-Sept-25 13:06:07

Neine, hope you get word soon, waiting is so hard when you're in pain. šŸ™

Grannmarie Wed 17-Sept-25 13:04:51

Hoping and praying that today is a bit brighter for you both, FGT.šŸ’•šŸ•ÆšŸ™

Glad to hear that your eye is improving, Cornergran, and you can enjoy your bedtime read.

UsedToBeBlonde, I hope you are fully recovered from your experience at the dentist.

Best wishes to all on their travels and/ or visiting family. Love and prayers for all with worries, illness or sorrow. Thinking of the Soops and all our lovely Kitchen people in the quiet corner. šŸ„°šŸ™

I'm having a busy day! I took my friend to Mass and Coffee Morning, but I pushed her in her wheelchair from her house to church, about 10 minutes walk, because I was afraid to attempt folding and lifting it into my car as usual, because I hurt my 'good' shoulder on Monday. I was donating DH'S old mobility scooter to a local charity for disabled people and something popped on my shoulder when I was helping the care assistant to lift it out of my boot. My sons had put it into my car at the weekend and I had forgotten how heavy it was, as we had been using the lightweight automatic folding scooter before DH died.
So now both knees and both shoulders are ' gubbed'!

I'm home for painkillers and Voltarol, before I visit another friend and her lovely sister, we're having a knit and natter this afternoon.

Wishing everyone the best possible Wednesday, TOYA.

Naughtyneine Wed 17-Sept-25 09:25:36

I hope today is a better day FGTšŸ¤—.
Jax Have a fabulous holiday, we spent a wild and windy holiday there a few years ago ,somewhere there is a photo of us at Lands End with me looking like Jedward. How lovely for your daughter to win the prize... There is the same at the pub where my in laws live and they really like it when a 'local' wins as opposed to one of the many non regulars who turn up when the prize pot gets substantial.
Corner You are very brave..it was only vanity that eventually got me using contact lenses !!!
UTBB... It's bad enough having to go to the dentist let alone have a turn afterwards....I hope you feel more settled now.
I'm still waiting to hear from the Consultant...maybe I'll just get a letter with a date. Fed up with being in pain now....6 years in November. 😱.
I've got invoices and 'stuff' to attend to this morning so I'd better shift my butt and get on.
Love and good wishes to you all.

mamaa Tue 16-Sept-25 23:26:26

Oh that’s pants FGT , hoping tomorrow is a better day. x

cornergran Tue 16-Sept-25 22:53:55

Hope tomorrow is better fgt. The roller coaster is exhausting.

I’m sure you’re right about the sun and food yia. I’m staying positive for you.

Pleased to report the eye has definitely improved. Pain is much less and sight is better. I’m now very cross at the way I was treated and will talk to the consultant about it at my next clinic appointment. The two previous sessions demonstrated how it should be done. The appointment arrived today, towards the end of October, I should know then the opinion of the efficacy of the injections. The really good news is it will be at our local hospital, no three hours of travelling. Hooray.

Time to settle with my book. Rest well everyone.

brook2704 Tue 16-Sept-25 22:27:47

Sorry to hear you’ve had a difficult day fgt hoping tomorrow is better x

Usedtobeblonde Tue 16-Sept-25 22:12:00

The same sentiment goes to you all.

Try to look after yourself as well as himself

A difficult day here today. It makes me emotional. Himself is fast asleep now beside me. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day. x
