l will apologise in advance for my irritability, which is beginning to show, but I think that everything about the world is so utterly dreadful at the moment, that it is definitely beginning to affect my mood.

I must somehow get a grip but it is difficult.

I love Auntie Acid, FranP.

Good on you for making the effort and getting out there again AND with a smile on your face smile!

I fell and knocked my front teeth out, so was very conscious while the wires were in. It left me with a reluctance to smile. I have now made the effort and walk/drive around with a big grin. It is amazing how many folks respond and I even get a "good morning" or 2.

Give it a try. Then if you are on fb, follow Auntie Acid.

Sending hugs

Can't walk, not fair on a dog.
We have to think of the dog.

I do miss having a dog to talk to 😁

why not adopt an older rescue- fab for you, and for doggie.

We adopt dogs, great to keep us walking.

When I am irritable it tells me more about myself than others.
I am difficult at the moment because
My DH is at home all the time now.
My little dog is deteriorating and may be put down on Thursday
Have corns on my feet which are now a bit painful.
So the wifi going down was very irritating...

Thinking of you…hugs…

I'm sorry, loopyloo.

However, they never leave you, they always have a special place in your heart.

sazzl- British people have the choice to work for their keep- plenty of jobs available. Plenty too are in dire circumstances because of their own way of live, gambling, debts and other addictions, and choosing not to work

Dogs always cheer me up when I meet them on my walks. They are little characters and their owners tell me what they get up to. Some of them know me well and come rushing to see me for a fuss.

When I'm grumpy I walk dogs, I can set the world right whilst out walking and nattering to dogs as they don't ever talk back. smile

Boat people being put straight into hotels makes me angry. Why, well because we have British born people, who can't afford private rents, sleeping in cars, vans, tents, and on the streets. They aren't offered any housing never mind a 4* hotel room with full board. British born people should be housed first imo.

I know the feeling .the world is a mess .but how can we help it.we can't .we just have to go along with what is happening .I hate the famine in GAZA I pray every day that the war will end...what is the purpose of killing innocent people.the children are starving.i have donated money but no more.ibterbational aid is not getting through.and where does my money go.to the aid or in someone's pocket.makes me so angry 😡

Are you confusing posts, Clsremont?

I think it’s a reference to another post.

I went to the local supermarket yesterday determined to spend one of my vouchers for £6 off if I spent £40. Despite some basics I needed such as eggs, flour and caster sugar being unavailable I managed to spend £53, and was surprised and delighted to discover that the voucher and club card savings amount to £12 therefore bill of £41! (and the only extravagance was a bag of crisps.)

I look at our granddaughter, nearly 18, full of hope, after some years of struggling with autism and epilepsy, with the perseverance of her Mum and medics she’s riding high.
I’m an optimist, anything else would drag me down.

One way to cope is by getting lost in a good book, and there is a GN thread devoted to good books. Take some time out, and treat yourself to a different reality, one that you have a bit of control over.

I too am becoming grumpier. I can’t see a way out. I thought at 67 I’d be winding down and enjoying my retirement. Now I can’t see when I’ll be able to do that……..

It's the apparently eternal Cost-Of-Living crisis that gets me down. It's STILL with us and weak-and-feeble Starmer doesn't seem to give two hoots. But maybe if he and Reeves and Rayner weren't too busy climbing on and off planes to attend yet another international junket then they might - just - take time to get to grips with things at home.

What brings this on? Yesterday at the supermarket every item on the list had gone up again except one. Salt.

I give up.

I look at my 18 year old grand daughter, A levels and school behind her, just flown in a plane for the first time and holidayed abroad without her parents Her whole hopeful adult life ahead of her, a rose bud just starting to bloom in the sun, and I want to cry.

I think most of us feel this way about our grandchildren and, in my case, a new great grandson. Helpless isn’t the word.
But life goes on in whatever way it wishes and there’s not much any of us can do about it.
I remember my late parents telling me of the worry, despair and helplessness people felt in WW11. As my dad used to say it’s all part of life’s rich pattern.
