Horrible start to my day with terrible cramp and so forth at 5am. So various things went on and I needed to check that all was arranged properly for my operation tomorrow. So rang to check that there was no chance, confirmed that a driver will pick me up about 7.50am etc., So having done that couldnt really do much more on that front, and I am a good driver taking other people in, but hate not being in control, and it is not up to me whether the driver turns up or whatever. When I was doing hospital car I used to ring people up the night before. That wasnt the rule, but I found it was really worthwhile. Someone could have been waiting for an important scan which was booked weeks ago, but as it is from the hospital they get no reminders or anything. My way I reassure them that they havent been forgotten, double check their details and tell the what my car is like and the time I will be with them. I do it to try and minimize their worries, but it also paid dividends for me as people would usually be ready and organised.
Anyway it was quite hot and humid this morning and I decided that I must get out, while I could drive ok and get away. So put coffee things in the car and set of for lovely Saltburn. Had a good ride over, and enjoyed calmingdown a bit, watching the shipping, listening to radio 3 etc. I then decided I would go down to Whitby in the late afternoon. It is always busy there but by late afternoon a lot of visitors leave so you can park etc. So got parked and went for a hot coffee as my water wasnt hot enough by then. I drove round the outskirts of Whitby and checked on some b/b and caravan parks ect., as I wanted to see what might be available to let my family and I get together. Found a good possibility where there were options of caravans static big ones and also found that they had a couple of ground floor places to rent. This may well be just what would work, so that I can have my own space but be able to be with the family too. My grandson is autistic so we have to be careful how we organise things.
So feeling pleased with my efforts I went back into Whitby and had a bit of a look round, then set the Sat nav to take me to Gromont, as I have a plan to take him on the railway , etc., Well it certainly shows my age as I recognised the platforms etc which were set up exactly as I remember , when all those years ago I went to Beverly High School for girls!! To my grandson it will be interesting and ancient. To me absolutely as I remember it. Anyway, was very pleased with my checking up on possibilities and by this time it was about 9pm. Very little traffic on the move, the moon just rising faintly and a lovely sunset. I set off across the moors and had a good trip until I joined the A19. it wzs getting late and I had decided to get something chinese on the way in. However best laid plans etc!! They had decided to work on the A19 and therefore had blocked all the exits that I needed to use. I tried one diversion only to get back to yet another blocked exit. So in the end had to drive down to Thirsk and come back up from there. By this time there was no chinese or any other thing open as it was about 11.30pm. Had had nothing to eat since about 2pm, and didnt think I would get to sleep without something so it was a divert to Tesco, where I got some crab chowder, which I have just finished eating. Got into the flat very tired but chuffed to see it was 9 to 5 the Dolly Parton film, just the thing to watch so now it is 1.15am and I need probably another half an hour to calm down and try and get some sleep. Ah well it kept my mind off tomorrow with all this hassle, or should I say off today!!
Ah well by this time tomorrow it will hopefully have been done and successfully!! Have a good night and hope those of you awake like me get some sleep.
