Good Morning Everyone,
Its light and dry here in brackley at the moment.
My usual routine of a mix of housework plus getting the bus to Bicester , which has had to divert due to roadworks effecting the route.
Return for lunch and maybe more housework , before settling down to watch TV.
Health OK,
Take Care,
Mick

Morning Mick, morning All from a damp corner of Somerset

Fine rain out there, enough to form a puddle or two, the garden is celebrating.

We loved our bus adventure yesterday, hope you both do yours today Marydoll. 90 minutes each way along mostly country roads flew past as we enjoyed the views. Some wandering, a lot of sitting as Mr C’s foot was unhappy, a decent lunch and back we came. We’ll do it again I think.

Routine today, dust removal and a grocery delivery early afternoon.

Another one here with good memories of Chester, Bellasnana. We visited regularly staying with friends, sadly we lost touch after they divorced and went their separate ways. We both loved the area. I’m pleased there have been good memories made on your trip.

Have the best day you can everyone.

Good morning Mick and everyone from brightish Carlisle, we've had some rain during the night, not much I think though.
Yesterday's early showers didn't continue so we had a dry day but little sun. I was busy inside all morning with routine housework. Little was done in the afternoon, I was wiped out for some reason, probably fighting off a bug I suspect, so I just sat about and started a new book.
Today will be much the same in the morning but I'm not repeating yesterday afternoon I hope! I want to get out in the garden and plant a small conifer into a vacant spot.
As others have mentioned, I'm finding it rather autumnal and it's still July. Weird weather, so maybe we'll have a good Indian summer later...

Wishing you all a good day.

Good morning from Cambridgeshire. It is looking like a grey cooler day here today. We are off now to take DH’s car for a service about half an hour away and then after I have dropped him home planning to meet two friends for brunch at the local garden centre. Hopefully then back for an afternoon of gardening.

Lovely pics MD do hope your health allows you to enjoy your break away.

Have a good day everyone.

ginny Tue 29-Jul-25 07:54:23

Good morning. We had rain overnight here in N.Bucks and it is overcast now.
Bellasnanna I am glad you have enjoyed your stay despite the sad reason. Safe journey home.
Today we are going into MK. DH is taking my car to have two new tyres fitted and I am going for an eye test. My last one was only 10 months ago but I can’t cope with the varifocals that I chose so am going back to two separate pairs. Of course it doesn’t help that I dropped them on a concrete path and then managed to kick them along. This resulted in a scratch in the middle of one lens, but I had already decided to change them.
Thought for all with worries and troubles. Safe journeys for those on the move and a good day wished for all .

Good luck for today Madeleine. 🙏

Good morning Mick and all GN's from a "dont know which way to jump " sky, some sun coming through grey skies, no wind and could rain. Take your pick for north yorkshire!!

Very short quick read through as I am now showered, hair washed and all ready and expecting the driver in the next ten minutes. One thing to be thankful for is that I think I shall be one of the first for the operation. Waiting around is the most stress inducing for me. At home radio 3 can calm my nerves and I can do things like drying cutlery and slinging it into the drawer to help with the agitation. In a waiting room of many others dont think it would go down well if I suddenly burst into song either!!!

So will be back later , hopefully with a successful op behind me, and will be able to breathe a sigh of relief and just rest up for today. One thing is I shall never be constipated, thinking of operations and such!!! On that rather crude note I wish you all a good day and more anon

Good morning all and it’s bright and sunny here on the Suffolk coast. We’ve had a mixed bag of weather.

Dd and DGD have swum in the sea every day and yesterday afternoon they walked into town to the little cinema , about a 5 mile trip, as we have no car here. They enjoyed the adventure and the film. Dd does well when she’s fit, I hope she hasn’t over done it . 🙏.

We
V e spent a lot of time on the beach creating ‘sand art’ (aka castles and the like) 😅. Dh suddenly appeared on the beach, having got himself down there. A struggle but he made it.👏.

A clearing up day today as we’re being picked up tomorrow late morning.

Enjoy the rest of your UK stay Bella.
FGT I hope alls going well with dh at home. I know the feeling as you leave the care of the hospital with all the responsibility on your shoulders. Take each day at a time and be sure you have the support of the medical team . You’ll be great!

Take care all 🌼

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s a bright and dry start to the day
Safe travels to your DS gMattie and everyone else on the move today
Today I’m off to the gym, there’s an aerobics class and then line dancing - should be fun! I’m meeting a friend for coffee in between two classes so looking forward to that too. Will call into see DD2 and family sometime today too.
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Good morning all froma bright day in the East Neuk, the weather yesterday turned out be sunny, much better than the West Coast.

As predicted, DH went rogue. After religiously setting up the sat nav, he totally ignored it, because it was wrong.
Consequently he added another twenty minutes onto our journey. 🤬
I was so disappointed not to get my statue, there was only one available and DH didn't like it, because it had no arms.🤣
I said I thought our others were like that and he proceeded to get out his phone and show me pictures of the ones we already have, to prove me wrong Who on earth keeps photos of statues on their phone? 🤷‍♀️
I discovered there was a garden centre near our hotel which sold statues and had DH driving up and down a country road, looking for it. It was only after rechecking it, back at the hotel. I discovered it shut down ages ago. Give him his due, he said nothing. 🤣

I was so excited to find my favourite boutique was open, it is usually closed on a Monday.
I had told myself, that I would limit myself to only one item. Do you believe me?
I am afraid that I got rather carried away. Then disaster struck. My card, which I had used earlier was declined, again and again. I was mortified. Fortunately, I had my debit card with me.
I then went next door to the delicatessen, to stock up on my favourite cheese sables, where it was declined again. It was then that I began to panic, for I needed it to pay
the hotel bill. 😱
I checked the bank app, to see if there was anything on it, but nothing.
Eventually, when we got to the hotel, where there was WiFi, (it was practically non existent in the village with the boutique) I saw a text from my bank. It said there had been '^suspicious activity^ on my card and it had been blocked!!
Surely, the bank would know that I tend to run amok in this shop!!! 🤣
All sorted now.

Our hotel is rather rustic, but the staff are lovely and the food, is amazing.
It specialises in sea food I had the most delicious seafood combo. It is the most I have been able to eat in months.
The After Eight ice cream sundae was very tempting (my mouth is still painful), but I knew it would be too much for me. The kind waitress offered to make me a mini one, which cooled my mouth down.

We had two strolls, pre and post dinner around the picturesque harbour, where we saw our dream house. It overlooks the harbour and has two golf practice greens, leading down to the sea.. DH was rather envious.

Today we are off on an adventure, just the two of us, using our free bus passes. It will give DH a break from driving those narrow coastal roads. We are going to see where the wind bus takes us.

GM, safe journey for your son and anyone else, who is travelling.
For those of you spending time with family, enjoy. FGT, you must be overjoyed at having your DH home.

I have awoken with a sore chest and horrendous cough and am debating whether to break into my rescue pack, but don't really want to start the work of the devil steroids and nausea inducing antibiotics.
I will give it until this evening.

Have a pleasant day folks.

Aldom Tue 29-Jul-25 07:33:23

karmalady lovely to hear that you lived in Hoole. In the early 1960's I used to walk to Chester from Upton, through Hoole, pushing my baby in his Silver Cross pram. Happy days.

Good morning all. A possible mix of light showers and sunshine today in Glasgow.

The tiler has done a superb job of the steps out to the garden. There are two wide steps at angles and now they have been tiled the cut of the slabs around them have gaps at different widths. I doubt they were measured and I will be having a chat with the owner of the landscaping company when he arrives to inspect the finished result. I am not at all impressed with the shoddy finish and will remind him I still have the balance to pay! Apart from that, I had a very good constructive day yesterday. A Waitrose visit at some point this afternoon will be my outing today.

Now that you have mentioned it GrannyGravy, I could fit in a visit to M&S foods for inspiration and some fresh flowers.

Best wishes to all for a pleasant day.

Greyduster Tue 29-Jul-25 07:28:03

Good morning Michael and all GNs from a cool grey South Yorkshire. We are forecast some rain today. I spent yesterday afternoon poring over paint samples which I had brought home from the over-helpful decorators merchants. “We can mix you any colour under the sun” they said. I said the sun will have gone cold by the time I’ve made my mind up!
I have a health check this morning with bloods, etc. It was supposed to happen in April but they had forgotten about me due to being so far behind schedule. No idea what I’m doing with the afternoon yet.
Have the best day you can, folks.

Good morning from an overcast W Kent. I spent sometime yesterday phoning and emailing old friends and catching up with the news. Mulling over the ups and downs of various AC and GC.
DD2 and family are now away so a bit of texting going on
I am off to meet a DF to go round a NT house followed by light lunch. I think we both have a lot of news to fit in
Best wishes to all

Good morning everyone from a dry but cloudy mid Essex. A busy day yesterday, had a walk, did some cleaning & had to clear space for new blinds being fitted this morning.
I may go for a walk when the blinds are done and I must catch up with my neighbour as they’re off on a long holiday tomorrow.

Enjoy your wander round the shops at the retail park gg.

grandmabatty I hope your childcare day is easier today.

Have the best day possible everyone. Thinking of all those who are struggling in any way.

Good morning from cool and overcast South Lanarkshire.

I was exhausted yesterday and did precisely nothing after we got back from DD’s. The gathering of the clan on Sunday was very successful with a party of fifteen having arrived from the USA, one family landed that very morning. These were one cousin of DH’s, his wife and their children, wives and their grandchildren. All of them plus most of the family here totalled over fifty people.
There was much chatter, music, and laughter for over seven hours and I fell into bed after we cleared up.

This morning we’re going over to Edinburgh to collect DS’s older two. They will stay with us for a couple of days as they’re desperate for a sleepover at Grandma’s house.

Wishing everyone the best possible day.

Good morning from s somerset, cloudy and drizzle today

I lived at Hoole near Chester for a while, lovely house and big garden next door to the police houses. One day I loaded up in Chester, with lots of heavy goodies from Cheshire wholefoods, which had a market stall at the time. Toddler, pushchair and heavily pregnant and suddenly the buses were on strike. I still remember that long slow difficult walk home

Bellasnana, I am glad you are having such a good break.

The apples are swelling fast and the apples injured by insects have been dropping. Nature is moving through the season faster this year and I have been eating autumn raspberries every day for weeks. The wasps used to pollinate them but the bumble bees have taken over to my relief. There is not much room to squeeze past and I get on fine with bumble bees

I have 2 trugs of rose prunings to take to the allotment compost bins, plus a big bag full of paper shreds. I use anything I can find for shredding, the shreds make my compost nice and it feeds the worms and this time next year, I will have my first decent compost on my allotment.

I want to go to the allotment, it has to be via car this time, it is drizzling now but that will not put me off. My plot is on the far edge and the big trees are not far away, it is a lovely place just to be

I am sitting on my chair topper, which is helping my back and hip tremendously. My recliner zero gravity chair is wonderful but does not help me to keep a good posture. I bought my sissel topper, second hand off ebay, last year when my left hip and lower back were giving me the run-around

I used that chair in zero gravity position during the evening, and needless to say I nodded off but still had a good sleep in bed. I did put a second light waffle woollen blanket onto my bed as cold spots were not helping my sleep. Not long now to putting the summer duvet back on as nights are becoming cooler

This week I want to be making more ready meals, braising steak is arriving on friday and destined for old fashioned long-cooking. On wednesday I will be making meals of dhal and rice

I do want to do routine housework today, dusting, tidying etc. It will get done, I like housework, when the mood is right

Have a good day

Aldom Tue 29-Jul-25 06:54:47

Bellasnana one of my friends was head of German at Queen's, 1970's.
Have a good journey home to Malta. smile

Good morning all from a wet North Leicestershire.

A lovely day ahead - we are meeting DH's sister in law and her sister for lunch. We don't get the chance very often.

We met the lady who is catering for DH's party yesterday morning and then DD3 and children came in the afternoon - lovely but exhausting.

GrannyGravy13 Tue 29-Jul-25 06:53:56

Good morning from an overcast S E Essex.

I am going to the Farm Shop this morning to see what local produce they have, hopefully they have marrows.

Then I shall go straight to the retail park, I fancy a mooch round Next and I need some bits from Boots and the M & S Food Hall.

🙋‍♀️

Good Morning everybody. It's sunny & hot here again today - my dh is out early on Tuesdays, as a volunteer @ the MS Aquarium. (Definitely a cool & tranquil setting for a tourist to escape from the heat) I'm going to the art supply shop for a bit more paint. Thank-you Jaxjacky, Blossom & FGT for liking my photo yesterday. Enjoy yr Summer-time Tues!

Sar53 Tue 29-Jul-25 06:43:25

Good morning from Kent, no sun today so far.
It was a long journey here yesterday, problems on both train lines and a very busy tube.
It's lovely to be with the girls. Almost 17 year old can't wait to learn to drive, she's the youngest of all her friends.
The 7 year old and I are going to the library today as she wants to join their summer reading scheme. We may go for coffee and a milkshake afterwards.
We sat and watched a film of the stage show of Hamilton yesterday afternoon, it's very long and I'm afraid I lost interest after about 2 hours.
I hope you all have a great day, best wishes to all xx

Grandmabatty Tue 29-Jul-25 06:27:52

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 7° and bright. Much cooler here. Bellasnana I've only been to Chester once and thought it was lovely. Susan enjoy your exercise class!
Yesterday was a long day for the boys and me. Dgs1 was thoroughly bored at times with only his little brother and me to annoy. He's a very sociable wee boy and misses his friends. The greatest excitement for dgs2 was squeezing oranges for juice. Ii can see today being the same. They were fairly good with just the occasional spat. My lovely neighbour brought her granddaughter over to introduce her to me. She's a sweet girl who had a rough start in life. She was fostered then adopted by my neighbour's daughter.
Today I'm taking the boys to soft play in the morning where they can let off steam. This afternoon, dgs2 and I will finish the three jigsaws we started yesterday. I'll make chili or bolognaise for dinner later. Have a good day all

Ashcombe Tue 29-Jul-25 06:27:31

Good morning from a fine and sunny part of La Sarthe.

I’d missed you, Susan56 so it’s good to hear from you again.

I’m sure you’ll miss your DS, grandMattie. I hope his new job will go well.

I really must clean the inside of my car while I’m here as there’s little opportunity in Torquay where it’s parked on the road. The days are rapidly slipping by before we are homeward bound on Sunday evening.

A good day is wished to all, especially the FGTs.

Good morning everyone. Had some rain overnight, but it was enough to make everywhere look a lot fresher and I don't have to water my pots.
Going a walk in my local park today, have not walked much at all this summer due to excessive heat.
Safe journey home Bellasnana.
