Good Morning Everyone,
Its light and dry here in brackley at the moment.
My usual routine of a mix of housework plus getting the bus to Bicester , which has had to divert due to roadworks effecting the route.
Return for lunch and maybe more housework , before settling down to watch TV.
Health OK,
Take Care,
Mick

Just dropping in to say hello and let you all know I’m still here. We had to be out very early today.

JamesandJon33 Tue 29-Jul-25 11:57:59

Good morning , just, everyone. Very wet earlier and a few small showers since.
The Hawk planes from Anglesey are flying over our house. They come, usually on a Wednesday, turn over the sea and go back. Then do it again and again.
More editing of text today and I can only do a half hour at a time, or my eyes go squiffy.
Hope everyone is well and FGTs DH is enjoying being at home.
Enjoy your day

madeleine45 Tue 29-Jul-25 11:55:05

Just to say, have had operation, and glad to be home. Cant see much but will be on tomorrow. Have a good day everyone.

Grandmabatty Tue 29-Jul-25 11:43:21

I meant to wish Madeleine all the best for her op today.

I have a patch of loosestrife in my garden but it hasn’t flowered this year. I think the buds all shrivelled in the heatwaves in June.

Greyduster Tue 29-Jul-25 10:17:26

Yes, Grammaretto, Loosestrife. Lysimachia Punctata. I have a patch in my garden - glorious when it’s in flower.

Love your photos Litterpicker - I have a “thing” for tall ships.

grandMattie Tue 29-Jul-25 10:07:12

It’s raining.☔️. Yippee!!👏

Hope all goes well today Madeleine.

Good morning from, yet again , a dull Stockport.
It also looks misty and the ground is damp.
Another frustrating day yesterday as a young visitor failed to turn up.
It was a very loose arrangement but I still couldn’t settle to anything in case she turned up.
She sent three vague texts during the day and in the end I instructed her not to come but I will speak to her this morning.

Also problems with the pharmacy who deliver my meds or rather don’t.
After 3 phone calls I am getting someone to collect them today.
My meds aren’t particularly important but someone with a very strict regime who is currently getting the same runaround as me would be in trouble.

Nothing much on the agenda today apart from washing my hair first and getting laundry in.
I envy those of you who post at 6am and say it is already on the line.
I was like that once but it seems a lifetime ago.
Have the best day you can, Madeleine I hope the op goes ok and the FGT’s day is uneventful and improving.

Good morning from Sunnyside sandhills northwest coast. I have DD, DS and DGD here. My DD made a nice meal in the evening, chicken in cream sauce with capers, then profiteroles. We carried on talking around the table for hours, which reminded me of days gone by when DH was here and the same thing happened most nights. Happy days.

DS will do a few jobs for me today and I have arranged for a decorator to wallpaper the spare bedroom and it needs a new window. I’m going to miss the music club as it’s a family day. DD will leave for the south this afternoon.
Thinking of the FGTs and all the best to madeleine🌺

luluaugust Tue 29-Jul-25 09:29:39

All the best Madeleine

Jaxjacky Tue 29-Jul-25 09:23:14

Magnificent Litterpicker thank you.

Ladyleftfieldlover Tue 29-Jul-25 09:22:45

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. It looks a bit damp so I’m glad OH cut the lawns yesterday when I was out.

I’ve just eaten a poached egg on toast as part of my new regime as suggested by the diabetes prevention consultant.

I am seeing friends this afternoon. OH is hiring a device which takes off honey from his hives. Tomorrow, after my hair appointment, I will help him put honey in jars - about 60 altogether. Then he will sort out the next batch which is nearer 100 jars worth.

Have a good day everyone. I hope FGT2 is enjoying making her OH his breakfast this morning

Grammaretto Tue 29-Jul-25 08:59:20

Great pictures Litterpicker. It must have been a fantastic sight to see all those ships in full sail.
Yes my sea of yellow is loosestrife. Thanks.

Litterpicker Tue 29-Jul-25 08:48:49

Good morning from East Lothian. It’s a lovely morning with sunshine, high cloud and only the lightest of breezes (yesterday was quite windy).

We are nearly ready to set off on our journey back to the south coast. We’ll be back here in September!

We saw the DGSs briefly on their return from Aberdeen, having handed ‘their’ ship over to a new crew. They went off to start another course at Rosyth naval base. DD fears that one of them has a piece of work he should have completed before he goes back to school for his final year - of course he hasn’t mentioned it! I will try to post some photos of the tall ships - they are so colourful with all their flags and banners. We only saw one in sail - I’d love to see them out at sea.

Madeleine, I hope all goes well today. Marydoll, I hope your sore throat and cough can be sent on retreat and you have another lovely day in the East Neuk. Gingster, that’s great that your DH has made so much progress since his stroke that he can get down to the beach, rewarding his hard work with exercising and yours in supporting and encouraging him.

Grammaretto, these definitely look like yellow loosestrife - very colourful.

Bellasnana, my music teacher's wife was at Queens, he was at King's! Think it was a school romance!

Beechnut Tue 29-Jul-25 08:31:25

Good morning everyone.
It’s been raining and the sky is very grey. Quite miserable miserable.

Your DH would probably like to live where my brother does Marydoll. His house is between two fairways.

A day indoors for me.

Have the best day you can all 🌺

BlueSapphire Tue 29-Jul-25 08:29:50

Good morning everyone from an overcast and damp Northampton, forecast is for more of the same; glad I did some washing yesterday.

Felt pleased with what I got done yesterday: washed the.bedding, clean bed linen on, damp dusted all the bedrooms, cleaned the bedroom windows, vacuumed downstairs and found storage for all the freezer containers. Late afternoon watered the garden, cleaned and refilled the birdbath. Did sausage and mash for dinner.

An easier day today, a Sainsbury's delivery.to sort mid-morning, deal with the cats' litter tray, early lunch, then weather permitting out to join my walking group this afternoon.

Now to go back and read the thread properly!

Wishing all a pleasant day.

merlotgran Tue 29-Jul-25 08:29:15

Good morning everyone from the south coast where it’s raining at last. I don’t think we’re going to be getting very much but at least it will freshen up the garden.
U3a group leaders’ meeting this afternoon. I’m hoping to drum up some interest in the allotment group from the younger, fitter members but I’m not holding out much hope.
Hope everyone has the best day possible.

Jaxjacky Tue 29-Jul-25 08:16:07

Morning, overcast in S Hants with the merest hint of wet stuff, not enough.
Safe journey to your son gMattie glad his paperwork turned up eventually.
Good luck Madeleine hope you’re first in the queue.
Enjoy your last day by the seaside Gingster
MrJ is home, flight on time, our local airport is so convenient, a twenty minute drive, he had a great weekend catching up with family.
A busy day on the phone yesterday, I’ll update online in a minute and my ears were suctioned out, one only partially, I need to return in three weeks.
Not much on today, we may go out for dinner.
FGT 👍

Grammaretto Tue 29-Jul-25 08:14:41

Loosestrife?

Grammaretto Tue 29-Jul-25 08:13:27

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders.
I'm sitting in my "arbour" with my cuppa enjoying the almost peaceful scene.
I have noisy seagulls but no sea! Just a sea of yellow flowers before me, loosestrife?

6 viewers are lined up to see the flat on Friday, including 2 people I know which is not what I expected or really want.

My potter friends are coming today to make pots and to help organise the studio for our arts trail for September.

Your East Neuk holiday sounds very refreshing Marydoll. I'm so glad the weather has improved.

Good luck today Madeleine and all who need it.

Yogaknit Tue 29-Jul-25 08:12:10

Good morning all. Full cloud cover in Kent today.
My job for today is to plant some more winter greens. I will then need to cover them with nets as there are cabbage whites lurking.
Best wishes to all.
