This from poet Lemn Sissay. He is referencing the orphaned (or in care) and damaged children with whom he shared the institutions in which he grew up.

I think it is a very profound statement and reinforces the need for proper support to be available to young families for the long term benefit of us all.

My grandad had a great one expressing positivity

The two for me are
“This too shall pass”and “Do as you would be done by”

Be nice to people on your way up. You never know who you might meet on your way down.

It’s certainly overegged nowadays

It also means you would never hear other people’s opinions ( unless they were ‘nice’)

I think it was probably made up to say to children Daddima in the age of them being seen but not heard.

There are no pockets in shrouds.
