Very wet and windy here in North Wales but worse to come later.

How is it where you are? Hope the Scottish grans will be alright. Seems they are having the worst of it

We did not get it too bad yesterday, central Scotland. Very windy and bit wet nice pm but windy. Windy today too but sunny and blue skies, about 25°on my deck. Lovely day

Warm when the wind stops then all is blown about again. Waiting for my recycling to be the next down the road. At least its not raining again in Colchester yet, fingers crossed!

I was blown about on my walk this morning. The trees were being buffeted and one was making a creaking noise so I hurried past. It's still windy but no rain so far.

Floris apparently hit Norway this morning, causing them to cancel most ferries to Denmark. She turned up here at about 11 a.m. just as i had finished moving half of a log pile indoors so the logs can dry out before I need to start using them, so I laid the wheel-barrow down flat, moved watering-cans and other things that might decide to fly, indoors, and gave up the idea of going shopping.

Unless it gets worse later, we are obviously only getting the tail end of Floris, so even although the gusts are strong - we have had worse.

Hope you are all safe.

It's breezy, sunny with clouds here. The washing is drying well 🙂

Hope everyone is safe.

Still very windy in NE Scotland. A lot of branches and small trees down. No serious damage that I'm aware of. Not nearly so bad as Storm Arwen was here.

RobertaDanversWalker Tue 05-Aug-25 13:58:59

@Mokryna - turns out it wasn't even from our roof! No idea where it's come from.

TanaMa Tue 05-Aug-25 13:46:44

Here in S. Wales a lot of sunshine, some light clouds but quite a chilly wind!

keepingquiet Tue 05-Aug-25 10:56:26

Heading north on the train today- no issues

Cumbrianmale56 Tue 05-Aug-25 10:52:43

It was weird yesterday: we had 40-50 mph winds with glorious sunshine, so plenty of people braved the strong winds and went out for a walk.

Large limb came down right on my plum tree, and this is the first year for ages that it had fruit on it 😟 Big clearing up job tomorrow once the threat of more branches down has gone.

Towels out blowing in the wind😊

BlueBelle Mon 04-Aug-25 17:38:13

Nothing at all happened here East Anglian coast , lovely sunshine and only a light wind

butterandjam Mon 04-Aug-25 17:34:55

Just one tree down so far, a lovely tall mature birch , thick trunk snapped off at 4 ft high. It missed the drive. With windspeed this high and trees in full leaf we'll lose more, but too dangerous to walk through the woods for a look.

DH walked the dog this am before it got too wild; he said that powerlines were making a weird moaning noise which Dog Did Not Like.

Aveline

I keep thinking the wind has died down then another huge gust arrives.
Everything closed around here. Tree downing the golf course car park. Tattoo and fringe performances cancelled.

We're just south of Edinburgh and it's a bit blowy around here, but not too bad. We did see a pink child's fairy castle play tent blow across the road in front of us this morning as we were driving back from getting some shopping. Yes, a lot of things have been cancelled, but the football seems to be going ahead this evening. Not sure I'd fancy being an Aberdeen fan travelling down and back for it though.

It’s now beautiful here in mid Wales, it was warm and muggy this morning, but we’ve only had moderate winds, and not much rain. It’s cleared the air though, the sun’s shining and it’s fresh and breezy.

It’s been cloudy all day with a few spots of rain, but sunny now. Windy and warm in mid Essex. More rain would have been helpful!

Staying in a farmhouse cottage in North Wales this week high up in the hills . Strong winds all day , torrential rain . Rain has stopped, but the howling winds are powerful . Over looking Snowdonia the views amazing and the sky changing every second . Sun is warm through the cottage windows now .

Commonground Mon 04-Aug-25 16:29:15

I thought I'd be unaffected, here in the far South West.

Pantglas2 Mon 04-Aug-25 16:09:05

It appears to have ended here on North Wales coast, dry and cloudy now with a fresh breeze - we got away lightly!

Grandmabatty Mon 04-Aug-25 15:17:42

Central Scotland here. It rained most of the morning. The wind has gradually ramped up. Locally a tree has come down, blocking a rural road. I have my grandsons who are normally outside but not today.

aggie Mon 04-Aug-25 15:06:17

It’s blowing a hooley here too , NornIron
I’ve the windows open a crack in the front of the house , tightly closed here at the back , plus ! the curtains closed against the blazing sun !,! Such odd weather !!

AGAA4 Mon 04-Aug-25 15:04:49

It's lovely here now. Sunny with a light breeze. Think I'm further east than others in Wales.

Allira Mon 04-Aug-25 15:01:54

I think the sun's peeking through! ⛅
