Good Morning Everyone,
Its light but a clear sky waiting for the Sun to rise here in Brackley.
Up to the usual routine mid morning bus to Bicester, shop and see and speak to those I know.
Health OK,
Take Care,
Mick

Good afternoon Mick and everyone. Better late than never. Got up and started on the ironing. Then more edits. I want then done soon so I can submit the book, and then enjoy what is left of the summer. Though we are off to N Wales at the end of September. Love it thre.
Hope everyone got through Storm Floris intact.
It is bright but grey here in SWWales but very windy. Sorry I was so late, time just flew past this morning.

Georgesgran Tue 05-Aug-25 10:36:11

Picking up these later too!

Georgesgran Tue 05-Aug-25 10:35:07

A late good morning from a still windy Durham. Coughing has given me sore ribs, but improving. I’m beginning to think New York in July wasn’t a good idea.
Popping to DD2 to get something signed, then a much needed haircut later.
Better news from Susan and Maw today. Good luck to our travellers too.

Best wishes to all. X

Usedtobeblonde Tue 05-Aug-25 10:19:30

Good morning from a still wet and windy Stockport.
My garden has suffered with lots of pots and planters blown over.
My S is away so I don’t know if any are broken or plants destroyed.
Not a problem though compared to what some people have suffered.
Maw , I hope you are reassured by the nurse.
I took part in the Sentinel node trial roughly 25 years ago when I had BC.
I did have total node clearance but that trial enabled many women not to have to have that done.
Safe flight home to Bellasnana, although you came for a sad reason you have caught up with family and friends in a fulfilling visit.
Best wishes as always to all with problems of any sort.

Good morning everyone from cloudy Lancashire.

It was very windy here yesterday, it was so noisy last night and I didn’t sleep well. I am now sitting up in bed drinking tea and then I will hop in the shower. It’s calmer now but still quite windy and lots of black clouds about. We will decide about going for a walk.

Sounds positive Susan, hope you’re on the road to recovery.

Glad that it wasn’t as bad as you thought Rosiesmaw.

Safe journey Bellasnana.

That must have been a relief Liberty not to have a huge bill.

I had best get a move on! MrB has done the shopping while I have been snuggled up here.

Wishing you a good day, whatever you’re doing 🌹

BlueSapphire Tue 05-Aug-25 09:26:14

Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny 🌞Northampton, a fine day ahead. Very windy yesterday and we had the most torrential downpour mid-afternoon, but the sun was out a few minutes later.

Some general tidying this morning, then out for my well-being walk this afternoon.

Have decided to wield the garden tools when I get back, as I have practically given up on my gardener ever appearing again. He.cancelled an appointment back in June as he was ill. I messaged him a couple of times with wishes for his recovery, and since then nothing. I know he is back at work, as he has posted pictures of completed work on Facebook.... Think I will have to start looking for another gardener.

Good news for Maw; she must be so relieved.

Wishing all a pleasant day.

GrannyIvy Tue 05-Aug-25 09:25:01

I agree Madeleine you are an inspiration but please rest your eye early days still x

GrannyIvy Tue 05-Aug-25 09:21:49

Good morning from a breezy sunny Cambridgeshire. I am running a little late this morning

Good to read positive news from Susan and Maws fingers crossed for good outcomes

Yesterday’s visit to my Mil went well although the dog was very hyper and I was licked from head to toe. Why is it dogs always are attracted to me and I’m very nervous around them. I was badly bitten as a child and it has stayed with me unfortunately.

Today I am meeting an old work colleague for lunch and a catch up and then it is Book club this evening so quite a social day.

DH has a project and is making a new back gate seems a rather messy difficult procedure and he is quite grumpy as DD1 has rattled him about something as well so I’m staying out of the way😂

Have a good day everyone

karmalady Tue 05-Aug-25 09:14:32

*karma my random days out are mainly theoretical and my car does need exercise too, I must give my btm a good kicking and get on with it! Madeleine is an inspiration.*

Spot on EkwaNimitee

She is my inspiration, otherwise it would just be local, day after day

hollysteers Tue 05-Aug-25 09:12:21

Good morning from a blowy but brightening northwest coast.
Yesterday was all practical stuff, arranging a new window cleaner, insurance for new phone, putting away a large grocery delivery and washing. Arranged a visit to Elizabeth Gaskell’s house in Manchester which has been on the cards for ages.

Today to music club and a warble beforehand. I have a couple of song requests to honour. Might not take the car, it’s blowy enough for my broomstick 😁
Thoughts to Susan Maw and all🌺

GrannySomerset Tue 05-Aug-25 09:04:01

Wonderful Cleaner and I are about to embark on cleaning the inside of the windows, very very overdue, so I am in full supervisory mode. We’ll see how well that goes! Yesterday’s small amount of rain has made no real difference to the garden and the forecast suggests another ten days of the same do I shall be lugging watering cans for the foreseeable future.

Fingers crossed for Maw and Susan and wishing Marydoll a companionable day with her delightful GD.

Gingster Tue 05-Aug-25 08:54:01

Good morning and all is calm and quiet after a little rain and a bit of a breeze yesterday. I hope all is calmer in the ‘western front’, of the country, and no damage done.

Today is our dgd5’s 11th birthday and we’ve just been sent a pic of her on the plane waiting for takeoff, ✈️, wearing her birthday badge, so everyone will know! 😂.
They are off to Barbados to celebrate ds2’s 50th birthday. 🎈.

Yesterday was a frustrating day with silly little things happening. I was cutting back a Virginia creeper which has taken over, on a narrow walk way, and cut through the hidden part of the washing line, full of heavy washing! 🤬.
Dh went to the local shops to buy a new line, while I was picking up leaves and branches that had fallen onto a shingle path (not easy, should have put a large cloth down to catch them).
Then it started to rain and I had to put all the garden tools away and got soaked.
I was due to pick up my friend for the U3A meeting and the traffic was a crawl all the way. It took over half an hour instead of a possible 8 minutes so the speaker had started as we arrived.

Just silly things that annoy and frustrate you.

Trouble free journeys for all travellers
That’s a big relief for you RosieandherMaw. Well done for getting checked out earlier. 👍. Now you can enjoy your holiday. How exciting for your Dd and family living in Paris . Your DGD must be eager to start school there 🇫🇷. Are they there for long/permanently?
susan sounds like you’re in the mend 🙏

Glad the weather is suiting you better Mizuna.

Take care all 🌼

Good morning Mick and everyone from a rainy and gusty Cheshire. I left Fort William before Storm Floris hit the town, where I understand some had to be evacuated. Had a good drive home with an overnight stop in Carlisle.

Always overawed by the beauty of Scotland. I have been many times and it does the soul good to see the splendour of the lochs with a backdrop of majestic peaks. Went to Beauly a town I've never visited before and what a beauty Beauly is!

Safe travels Bellasnana. Good to hear that you're feeling better Susan and what good news for you RosiesMaw.

Was awake for several hours in the night so after a food delivery this morning I shall relax with my crochet. Enjoy your day whatever you have planned.

Jaxjacky Tue 05-Aug-25 08:37:39

Morning from a sunny S Hants after a wet, but not really that windy yesterday when I was busy on the phone sorting out medical lifts for people, all bar one were fixed up.
Quiz last night was tricky, we came within 1 point of third place, darn!
Today I’ve washing including towels, how exciting, plus the usual challenge of what’s for dinner, MrJ will go to the farm shop.
Good to hear from you Susan with improving news 👍
Safe journey back Bellas ✈️

Good morning. I am running a little late so will come back later to read your news. Hoping that most of it is good.
We have friends coming to visit, they will be here for lunch. The sun is up so maybe there is a chance of being outside.
Wishing all a good day with a smile along the way.

Marydoll Tue 05-Aug-25 08:12:13

Good morning all from a showery Glasgow, where it is 12°C.

The smoke alarm outside our bedroom has been beeping all night, that along with night terrors, due to restarting my biologics, means I have had little or no sleep.😴. This is the third alarm this week, which has done this.

Yesterday, after avoiding fallen debris and tree branches on the road and being faced with an oncoming driver, swerving across the road, to avoid a huge branch, I got to the surgery, only to find it closed for a local holiday.🤬

I needed to replace some garden pots, so decided to go to a nearby retail park, before going hone.
What a foolish old and reckless woman I am. I struggled to walk and am afraid, I got a bit carried away in Home Bargains, Trying to hold the tipping trolley, open the boot and unload the bags was a nightmare.
I decided to visit Matalan next door, opened the boot and some of my shopping, flew out and blew across the car park.😭
However, I did get some bargains to put away for Babydoll's birthday in April. (I like to plan ahead! 😉),

My next and final stop was TKMaxx, where I got two beautiful pots at a phenomenal price and some toiletries for DD's Christmas..
Wisely, I chose a different route home, although longer, it was much safer, with less traffic and debris.
However, when I arrived home, we were unable to unpack the car nor open the garage door, due to the fierce winds.

Today, we have Dollie, who would like a quiet day.
We shall attempt another surgery visit, pick up a bird bath, I saw yesterday (too heavy for me to lift) and go for a coffee to keep papa happy.
Then Dollie and I will chill in the conservatory and put the world to rights.

Good to hear from Maw and Susan.💕 Prayers for a positive outcome.
Mizuna, I hope you improve soon, that constant coughing and chest clearing is exhausting.

Have a pleasant day folks.

P,S. The date in title put me off, I spent ages trying to find the correct thread. I was sure today was the fifth, for I have a candle delivery coming to the church and was quite confused. No change there!.
I have just realised that the beeping smoke alarm is an old one, ( the rest are wireless), all he needs to do is change the battery! )

Liberty Tue 05-Aug-25 08:07:26

Good morning from a sunny Suffolk where we had no evidence of a storm yesterday.

I collected my car from the garage yesterday and was very pleased to learn that I had an extended warranty which covered the cost of more than £600 of a new condenser! My car is over 6 years old and bought secondhand but from this garage. Well done them for giving/selling it to me then.

Good to hear positive health updates from Rosie and Susan and that no one has suffered any significant damage in the storm.

NannyJan53 Tue 05-Aug-25 08:02:33

Good morning from a slowly brightening Black Country.

It was quite humid yesterday, and whilst at Line Dancing in the afternoon, it tipped it down for quite a while. Then luckily the sun came out as it was time to go home.

Over to Mums today, as she has a Doctors check up appointment. Then may go over to DD's as they arrived home from Majorca yesterday. Need to take over DGD's present as she is 17 the day after we come back from Swanage, so want to make sure she has it for that day.

RosiesandherMaw such a relief that you have caught it in time flowers

Ladyleftfieldlover Tue 05-Aug-25 07:57:08

Morning all from a windy West Oxfordshire.

Granddaughter had the final day of her stay with us yesterday. We popped into a bookshop, toured the local museum and had lunch. Her parents arrived from Scotland around 3 pm. They had wild camped in the very north and then driven as far as Carlisle where they stayed the night - so they only had to drive from there yesterday. Apparently the drive was quite hairy with Floris!

I am meeting friends this afternoon while OH has another attempt at placating his bees!

Good wishes to everyone especially those with difficulties.

EkwaNimitee Tue 05-Aug-25 07:48:28

Good morning Mick and everyone from Carlisle.
It started off sunny here but has now clouded over and looks like it will shower shortly.
Yesterday it was a case of storm, what storm? We hardly justified a yellow warning. The heavy rain ceased around 10am then we had a lot of strong, gusty winds till after lunch which were not at all alarming to this wimp. I've seen far worse here. I've just been left with a scattering of rose petals across the lawn.
I just got on with routine cleaning and laundry and will finish that off today. I finished my book and may start another today. I'll also hope to go for a walk after lunch to see what if any damage has occurred in the park where there are a lot of old trees. That depends on whether rain sets in or not.

Sorry to hear of your diagnosis Rosies but thank goodness it's caught early.

karma my random days out are mainly theoretical and my car does need exercise too, I must give my btm a good kicking and get on with it! Madeleine is an inspiration.

I hope everyone has a good day.

Aldom Tue 05-Aug-25 07:45:44

Good morning everyone.

Lovely to see you posting Susan.
I hope today is the beginning of your return to good health.

Thank you for your kind thoughts re my house hunting. If I decide on a one of the houses I will PM you with the location.

Thinking of you. flowers

merlotgran Tue 05-Aug-25 07:41:50

Good morning all from a sunny south coast. I’m off to the allotment this morning so I’m relieved it’s not windy and that we got off lightly yesterday. Hope those in the north escaped any damage.
Very good news Maw.
Hope everyone has the best possible day.

Ashcombe Tue 05-Aug-25 07:40:28

Safe journey and happy landings, Bellasnana; it sounds like you have managed to end your visit to the UK on a happy note, despite the sad reason for coming over initially.

Stilllearning Tue 05-Aug-25 07:32:23

An earlier than usual good morning for me from my bit of South Lanarkshire, all quiet and quite bright today. Yesterday was wild but we didn’t get the worst of it here.
I’m waiting to hear about my elder DGS’s Higher results although there was talk on the news yesterday about possible delay due to the weather. It’s such a big moment for them. Last year when sitting his Nat 5s he realised at this stage that he had not registered for receiving his results by text and had to wait for the postie.

I’m glad that you’re improving Susan, what a time you’ve had, I hope your recovery proceeds smoothly from now.

Glad also that your long awaited results eventually proved more reassuring than you feared RosieandherMaw and you can now look forward to enjoying your holiday.

It was probably inevitable that you would take a long time to recover from your huge adventure in Canada Madeleine never mind the daily challenges you face, thank goodness you at least have a good plumber, I think I would have wept!

Wishing everyone the best day possible x

brook2704 Tue 05-Aug-25 07:32:13

Good Morning everyone from Inverness where it’s grey and cloudy but a lot less windy than yesterday
Hope you’re home soon Susan and feeling much better
Storm Floris caused a lot of damage in Inverness yesterday, lots of trees down including in the centre near the cathedral and the river. We stayed in all afternoon, DH had to go out into the front garden to secure a lovely tree that was leaning badly, he’ll fix it properly today and fingers crossed it’ll be ok.
Better news 2nd time round Rosies and hope you can enjoy your holiday now
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐
