Good Morning Everyone,
Its light but a clear sky waiting for the Sun to rise here in Brackley.
Up to the usual routine mid morning bus to Bicester, shop and see and speak to those I know.
Health OK,
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning from windy Shropshire.

The lovely nurse woke me at 4.15 for IV antibiotics and for the first time in six days no temperature spike🥳

I hope everyone has managed to stay safe in the storm.Safe travels to Bellasnana.

Good luck with the house hunting Aldom.

Thinking of you all and wishing you all a good day🦩🌻

Good morning from Bristol.
We had only a couple of hours of light drizzle and a few gusts, in the “worst” part of the forecast storm. I hope that the grans in Scotland fared as well and stayed safe.
I am absolutely furious. Someone in the management of Anchor where I live, has leaked the result of the secret ballot we had to decide whether to have a resident manager or not, in the wake of our present manager’s retirement in June. They gleefully to the ones on WhatsApp, so those not on the platform are still unaware of the result. It should never have been leaked, and I’m not sure whether it is even legal. I suspect not, but certainly very bad form and quite wrong. We should get a letter “soon” giving us the news.
What is interesting is that most of the others in the group are delighted to have been told, legally or not, saying that we are normally “fed crumbs”. Also, they are pleased by the vote to keep a resident manager! Hmmm
Other than that, I had my feet done and did a lot of sewing.
Today is even less exciting - laundry done and needs to be hung out, a bit of shopping. Not seeing or talking to anyone until tomorrow.
multicolour, we have free bus fares in England too; it’s just that they don’t start before 9 or 930 weekdays, depending on the area. In Kent it was later, in Bristol, it’s earlier.
Have a good day, y’all. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

Glad to hear your news, Susan.
Happy landing Bellas.
Good luck with medics and dragons, MD.
And hugs to all I have missed… 🫂💐🌷

Good morning from a cooler Cornwall. Sorry, I've been very absent due to being floored by the temperature. It really badly affects my bronchiectasis. I've been reading your posts though. Then yesterday hooray it mizzled here (a lovely soothing gentle mist) and a cool wind blew so I was able to get out with my family to Penzance. It was wonderful, like having a whole holiday in one day. Here's my young grandson welcoming his new bearded dragon.

Today I'm sorting my flat for a whole day's visit from my granddaughter tomorrow plus clearing my disfunctioning freezer for delivery of a new one. If the weather permits I'll walk by the coast.

Grandmabatty Tue 05-Aug-25 06:12:44

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 7° and bright, although the ground is damp. Susan lovely to hear from you. GrandMattie that would annoy me too.
Yesterday was a long day for me boyo. It stopped raining in the morning but the wind ramped up and it was much too windy to go out. A tree fell locally, blocking a road. The boys were very good. Lots of drawing and painting. Because we couldn't go out, I built them a den in the living room and they had a picnic lunch in it. Dgs1 helped empty the bookcase with me then fell down the steps at my front door,in a rush to see my neighbours. He wasn't badly damaged, a few grazes and a fright.
Today I'll take them to soft play. Then more drawing. It's still a bit too windy to play football but we'll go to the green space later this afternoon. Gammon steak for dinner. Have a good day all

Good morning Mick and all early GN's from a breezy but dullish morning in North Yorkshire.

Been awake since just after 4am. Tried to go back to sleep , no luck, eye rather gritty and painful so didnt try reading and ended up thinking of so many jobs and things that I havent done yet that gave up and got up. Went to my bathroom in bare feet and the floor was wet!! Oh no ,not another bathroom saga!! So I have carefully mopped it all dry and left it, after checking pipes and tap and will go back shortly to see if it has got wet again. My lovely plumber will be tearing his hair out!! He came the other day to change a tap, which we had been waiting ages for it to be sent, and at last I finally paid him the last amount owing and we said a pleasant good bye, hoping that in the future it would just be the occasional thing I might need him for , and he could cross me off his list. So if the floor is wet, it is going to be something to do with the last thing he did and he will get up to yet another email from me!!

I am still struggling with back, knees and eye, so one way and another a bit of a crock at the moment, and it is rather getting me down. But at least did a bit of sorting out yesterday and think that today, I will need to take it easy again, and hope resting will help my eye in particular to stop hurting. Looking out of the window, things all seem ok, just my cover on the yellow peril come up a bit despite it being tied with a bungy cord to the buggy and having put a milk carton full of water into the basket to keep the front bit on properly. Hope that everyone survived the storm without any mishap and was especially thinking of the scottish contingent of gn's last night.

I suddenly thought last night did I pay for the tv license? It was amongst the letters when I came back from the holiday and I dont recollect either paying for it or checking it so that is a job for this morning. If I do something wrong deliberately then that is my lookout, but would be mortified to be fined or it to be in the local paper that I hadnt paid my bill when it was totally unintentional. That is of course, one of the things about living alone. I try to be methodical and put things on the calendar and check it out , but things can distract you , and there is no box on any form to fill in to say sorry I forgot about this!!

There are some programmes on the radio today that interest me and will keep me company whilst I carry on doing the boring everyday jobs. I intend to get all the up to date ironing finally put away in the correct place and to rearrange the wardrobe towards an autumn selection. Then if I am in the mood I need to go through various drawers and hangers and have a ruthless clearout, so dividing things into not needed now and inspected, washed and put away, and admitting that however long I keep something I like, I am never going to fit into it again and giving it to a charity shop to be of some use to someone!! I should get on with the rest of the ironing, but the action of ironing even sitting down, does not help my back and my iron is now not working very well especially on the steamer bit and think I have to get another one. So will be looking online at various choices and then see if Tesco have one that I like. I have clubcard points and so might as well get it from them and use up some points and not have to lash out any money. That definitely appeals to me!!

So after my charging round the countryside it is definitely a day at home today, with possibility the excitement of going to town for a few bits and pieces and go mad and have a coffee at Cafe Nero, and may see a friend there. Sorry to make you all jealous of my exciting life, compared to your humdrum day!!!

Hope you see some friends today Mick in Bicester. Pleased to hear you are improving Susan and hope you will be up and about soon. Hope you had an easy journey home Bellasnana, and can have a bit of a rest after all your travelling. Wish everyone a good day, and that you find time to treat yourself to a decent coffee and a sit down at some point,

Good morning from s somerset, windy, sunny and cooler today

A very good drying day so I need to get on and get these skeins of mine soaking and hung out to drip dry. It feels as though I will be playing yarn chicken now that I have promised a jumper for my ds. All that `fluff` has compressed to fewer skeins than I thought. I somehow need to measure the length of yarn

I fell asleep in my chair last night, to an hour past my bedtime and then I slept all through in bed, woke up this morning with cool spots, perhaps I need an extra cover on my bed. It is a fine line between being too hot or too cool

Thinking that this week I will go on a steam train to the coast and I have been trying to work out where to go, I am wanting a day out at random every week. Also to get some miles on my car

Anyway today, a delivery of organic foodstuffs and I will be making my special creamy lactobacillus foodstuff. Takes 36 hours at 38 degrees, so I get it started by 8 in the evening. Yesterday my kefir was ready for me to start pressing some cheese and that is pressing in the fridge, it keeps two weeks

I don`t need to visit my allotment and it will be too windy for a safe cycle ride so the day will have to unfold with whatever is offered to me

Have a good day

Kalu Tue 05-Aug-25 06:28:39

Good morning all. We have a mix of sunshine and rain this morning in Glasgow and thankfully the wind has dropped to gusts of 39mph.

I made a dash to our local shops during a dry spell yesterday. The roads were littered with leaves and branches and two trees down. Gusts of 50mph snapped off a few geranium heads potted at the front of the house. A Waitrose shop at some point will be my outing today, hanging on to the trolley will be challenging.

Pleased to hear you are making progress Susan

Best wishes to all for a pleasant day.

HelterSkelter1 Tue 05-Aug-25 06:34:49

Good morning from a sunny N Surrey. Today is the 5th August. That threw me first thing.

And it is cool again despite the early sunshine, but if I get my winter dressing gown out we shall have a heat wave.

multicolourswapshop Tue 05-Aug-25 06:34:50

Good morning everyone from a windswept east Fife. My poor garden furniture is all over the place due to the strong winds yesterday, thankfully the storm has passed this morning. It looks like the sun is coming out to play. It’s a jammy day today I’ll be watching Sky films lounging about thinking about the funeral coming up.

Have a good day my friends you know who you are 💐💐💐

RosieandherMaw Tue 05-Aug-25 06:41:48

Good morning from N Bucks where it is sunny and fresh.
The last few weeks I’ve felt my life was “on hold” as I waited for the results of the biopsy on my back lesion .
Well I got the results yesterday and it is Melanoma and initially the next stage was to be a wider excision and something called a sentinel lymph node biopsy under GA at Stoke Mandeville hospital followed by possibly immunotherapy.. I was fine with all of that, a friend is coming to the end of 18 months of immunotherapy after a similar diagnosis two years ago and she is doing fine.
I left feeling reassured and with a sheaf of literature on skin cancer. A bit shell shocked but not altogether surprised.
However a few hours later the Skin Cancer nurse rang me with the good news that closer examination of histology by the consultant showed that I am borderline stage 1A/1B and all that they need or want to do is the wider excision which can be done at my local hospital, MK and under local anaesthetic, rather than a GA. So it does seem to have been caught early enough and provided this procedure does not show any other cancer cells I should need no other treatment just 6 monthly check ups.
The holiday in the South of France with the DDs and their families is now back on which particularly pleases me as D2, SIL and GS will not be coming back after our holiday but driving straight to Paris to move into their flat so that GS can start school in September. They actually left London this morning to catch the 7 o clock shuttle☹️
Anyway LSS, it seems my shopping trip back in June when I first spotted my mole may have been providential and might even have saved my life! Who knew shopping could be good for your health?
Wishing you all a pleasant day hoping those in the North and Scotland have come through storm Floris unscathed.

Grandmabatty Tue 05-Aug-25 06:52:32

RosesandHerMaw it's a rollercoaster, to talk in clichés. I'm glad it's not as bad as you were first told. 💐

Greyduster Tue 05-Aug-25 06:53:24

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire. It must have rained in the night and is still drizzling slightly now, but the sun is trying to break through. I made four jars of plum jam yesterday and am confident that, unlike the last lot I made, it will come out of the jars!! I shall try some this morning on some toast before I go to the gym. If it’s ok, I might make some more. My appointment with the practice nurse resulted in my agreeing to try statins (which I have always kicked against) for three months to see if it makes a difference to my cholesterol level. DS rang yesterday evening just, he said, to make sure I’m still upright. They are coming to the end of their big redecorating project so he will visit soon.
Not sure how today will shape up yet. It’s weather dependent.
Have the best day you can, folks.

Michael12 Tue 05-Aug-25 06:56:53

I must apologise for the date which should be the 5th.

Good morning all from a sunny North Leicestershire.

This morning I am helping at a different memory cafe this morning while DH goes to feed DS1's cat and then half way down the M1 to meet DD2 and bring the girls here for a couple of weeks.

Brilliant news Maw

Have the best day possible everyone ❤️

Good morning from a fine but cloudy start in Torbay.

No time to post yesterday as we were in a rush to have breakfast before disembarkation from Guillaume de Normandie at 6.15 a.m! We had arrived in Portsmouth after a smooth and quiet crossing on this beautiful, environmentally friendly vessel. Our cabin was clean, spacious and comfortable. Due to my arthritis, I requested to be parked near a lift and this led to us being allocated a cabin with disabled facilities, including a very loud pre-recorded announcement saying, “Door is opening/closing” whenever we entered or vacated the room!

Thank you for your kind message yesterday, Jaxjacky, which was sent just as I was driving into Torquay! We had a good journey of four hours despite the misty, drizzly conditions in Dorset with some “fatchy pog”, too! A brief stop at McDonald's in Dorchester sustained us. They do make good coffee!

It’s good to hear you sounding better, Susan56, and I hope you can go home soon to continue your recovery.

The storm must have been a worry for those living further North so I hope everyone from the affected areas remains unscathed. Glad the change of weather is suiting you better, Mizuna.

Ashcombe Tue 05-Aug-25 07:06:36

Sorry, I hit post instead of preview!

A good day to you alll. 🦩💐🥰💐🦩

That is good news, RosieandherMaw; thank you for letting us know and good luck with the treatment and your holiday. 💐

Redcar Tue 05-Aug-25 07:16:51

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s a sunny morning with a gentle breeze. It was windy yesterday with just one heavy shower early evening, storm Floris didn’t really get to us luckily. I hope our gransnetters in Scotland and the north of England haven’t suffered too much damage either to themselves or their properties.
I discovered a flea on the dog yesterday, so will continue to look for more today! I’ll buy some pots of herbs this morning as apparently fleas don’t like the smell of some of them! I’m trying to reassure DD2 that dog fleas aren’t the same as head lice, she’s had problems with nits in her children’s hair this year.
DD2 and her OH are both in the office today and I’ll go and look after her 7 year old when the childminder goes home and until DD2 gets home. Otherwise a day of playing with the dog.

susan good that your temperature has gone down, but a nuisance the nurse had to wake you so early for the antibiotics!
rosieandhermaw good news for you, what a relief! Enjoy your holiday in the south of France.

Have the best day possible everyone, thinking of those who are struggling in any way.

Bellasnana Tue 05-Aug-25 07:20:06

Good morning from Chester where the sun is shining, the wind has dropped and it is warm. I’ve been lucky with the weather whilst I’ve been here.

Yesterday my friend and I did some shopping then had a delicious pub lunch before both dozing off for most of the afternoon!

Back to the rock today, my friend will drive me to Liverpool Airport so I won’t have to lug my suitcase on any more trains.

She and her husband have both been so kind and hospitable, it has been lovely catching up and reminiscing about the past, but I will be glad to get home and see the family.

Glad to hear your diagnosis, though worrying, is treatable and not as bad as first feared. Thank goodness you had it checked Maw.💐

Good to hear you are feeling better Susan. Hope you’ll be back home again soon.

Thank you all for your kind wishes for my journey home.

Hope you all have the best day possible.☀️

RosesandLilac Tue 05-Aug-25 07:20:41

Good morning from a beautifully sunny spot in south Glos, there’s a fresh feeling in the air.
I was awake for several hours in the middle of the night, most exasperating, then fell soundly asleep until 7 , which is late for me!
Great news RosiesMaw 👏
We had some drizzle and it was a little windy for a while but nothing much really so storm Floris certainly didn’t touch us here.
Housework etc today 🙄, I will take tiddler out shortly before getting on with the chores. Thankfully she’s recovered from whatever upset her stomach, I was so worried.
I did get some gardening done before the rain yesterday, it’s looking much tidier so I will tackle the back garden today. It’s mainly deadheading and weeding.
Best wishes to everyone 🌹
