Good morning, Michael12 and everyone!

I had a scare last night, and this time it wasn't my lovely ghostie friends doing it!

I don't have actual wardrobes; I find them too awkward and cumbersome, so I have two Argos Home Covered Double Wardrobes with Storage next to each other, which are a lot easier to fold and box when moving. They're always closed and zipped up when I'm not using them. They both stand against the wall, side by side, opposite my bed.

Around 1:30 am, I woke up gasping for a drink and went into the kitchen to refill my water bottle, came back into the bedroom, went back to bed, and about 2, I could swear I heard repeated thumping coming from the one on the left!

I knew I was alone as I live alone, and the door was closed and locked but bedroom door open, I had the bedroom window wide open, I'm not on the ground floor but the next one up so I've always got all the windows in the flat open while there, so I knew nobody had got in.

The thumping was really strange, and I thought it most unusual for my ghostly friends.

I crept out of bed and slowly walked to the rail, convinced someone was actually in there! I always keep a baseball bat next to my bed ''just in case'' although I've never had any trouble, so I grabbed it and very, very slowly began to lower the zip, ready to clop anyone in there....

Then realised it was my next-door neighbour, who had recently moved in, and she has a dartboard on her wall that backs onto mine, and it was her darts I could hear hitting the board!

After my heart went back into my chest, I just cried with laughter!

Balloons were already mostly up when we go to a high area on the Downs, so stayed only about 30 minutes.
The dragons for the Welsh GMmers!

Good morning from Sunnyside sandhills northwest coast.
I enjoyed yesterday after popping into town with a signed form for my FA. I had a look through some sale items at M&S and bought a red t shirt with a secret bra attached, 70% off. I already have one in white.
Then a tuna panini, watching the ‘fashionable’ world go by😁 and took in a local art exhibition. Only did a section as the bifocals I was wearing didn’t cut it. Will go back as it’s on for a while.
Watched a good black and white film “The Bigamist” in the evening.
Today will clean out my car for shame before it goes for its MOT this coming week.
Thoughts to baubles FGTs and all🌺

Good morning everyone from a sunny south coast.
Definitely a gardening day for me today. There is so much deadheading and cutting back to do.
Yesterday’s lunch with DGD was lovely but I was sad to see her go. Goodness knows when I’ll see her again.
DD and DSiL are flying back from Croatia today. They’ve had a wonderful holiday by all accounts.
Hope everyone has a good day.

GrannySomerset Sat 09-Aug-25 08:47:19

Grey start to the day but we are promised sunshine later along with a rising temperature. Supermarket trip this morning and a friend to supper later the plans for today so I had better get on with it. Not nearly as interesting (or demanding) as Marydoll’s day yesterday but hopefully a bit useful.

Mizuna Sat 09-Aug-25 08:45:12

'I wonder who dismantles the creations at our library Mizuna.'

The staff usually do it Susan but it is very fiddly and time-consuming so the staff in the library I go to are delighted to have volunteers.

Good morning all, it’s a wet, miserable day here in South Lanarkshire.

We have spent much of the week with my brother and sister in law and will be there for a while today.

This morning I’m having to try to change or cancel our booked holiday as it clashes with my nephew’s funeral. I expect lots of admin will be involved.

One of my DGDs turns 13 today so we will pop over there later to share her birthday cake.

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

Kalu Sat 09-Aug-25 08:39:15

Good morning all. Yet another wet and windy start to the day in Glasgow. The rain has now stopped and blue skies are appearing.

Storm Floris at the beginning of the week meant my gardener had to cancel but will be here later this morning. Our council have decided to collect the brown gardening bin once a fortnight now rather than once a week! Crazy decision at this time of year when gardens need constant maintenance.
Eldest GD is 20yr today - where have the years gone as it seems not that long ago we were collecting her from nursery. I am looking forward to going out for a birthday dinner with the family tonight.

Best wishes to all for a pleasant day whatever your plans may be.

Morning from a bright S Hants, I woke to a txt from SSE ‘there is a power cut in your area’ bedside lamp worked, just received another one ‘pier back on’ .
Then I started scratching, bites on both legs overnight, not the best start to the day,, MrJ rarely gets bitten.
We were sand blasted in Weston earlier this year corner not fun.
Yesterday stretch class instructor pushed us, a few pinging muscles later, Tesco delivered and we went to our very busy local.
Today children and grandchildren are here for a bbq this afternoon, my daughter and children are off camping tomorrow.
Enjoy trips out today those going,
🦩🦩

Good morning everyone from a very bright and sunny 🌞Northampton, going to be another nice day.

Dance classes were yesterday and I managed all three for the first time in ages; there was a good turn-out. We are busy practising for performances in November. Went for coffee at the village bakery afterwards with my fellow dancing friend.
Home on the bus, sat in the garden and finished my book.
Watered plants that looked as though they needed it, cleaned and then moved the bird bath, and did a spot of weeding.

Meeting friends for coffee this morning in the M&S Cafe, then a spot of shopping to do. Will probably sit in the garden again this afternoon.

Wishing all a pleasant day.

Good morning from Shropshire where a sunny day is forecast.

Thank you Ekwa.

I had five star treatment from the drs surgery yesterday.I think it is obvious they had got things wrong in my previous diagnosis and treatment. The senior dr called and went through everything with me and then the pharmacist called followed by a nurse.A nurse will call on Monday.

DD1 and the children called to see me in the afternoon. The children were going to come back today as DD has a hen party today but the children wanted to stay and look after me.They have been so good.Today they will go into town with DH to spend their pocket money and go to Lego club.I wonder who dismantles the creations at our library Mizuna.

I am sorry your feet are so painful again Grandmabatty.

Thoughts with all with mountains to climb and enjoy your days all with adventures planned🌻🦩

Good morning from a sunny NE, forecast is for a mild, dry day.
Yesterday was a lazy day after a total lack of sleep the night before.
No visitors this weekend, sister is returning home to Germany and DS and family travel to Berlin tomorrow so will be packing.
I will do some light housework and then start a new novel, I always have several in a cupboard just in case.
Have a good day.

Good morning from sunny Suffolk after a glorious day yesterday. DD1 and family are hoping to see the ballon’s this weekend. They moved a couple of weeks ago about 20 mins from Bristol and hope they drift their way.

I can imagine GG why your DGS’s chose Butlins Forrest their holiday with you. It sounds such fun. Next year sees special birthdays for DD1 and me and I am thinking that a long weekend at Potters holiday centre in Norfolk might be an ideal spot for the 16 of us….plenty of activities for the 6 teens and 2 younger DGC and fully catered I understand.

We are expecting DS and DGS3 later to assemble the new outdoor sofa and hopefully take home a large bag of apples. The muntjacs are making short work of the windfalls.

Hope all have the best weekend possible.

Marydoll Sat 09-Aug-25 08:22:29

Good morning all from a dreich Glasgow, where it is 13°C. I can hear the rain bouncing of the conservatory roof.

I saw an item about the festival on the news GM, it would be awesome to see all those balloons.

Yesterday, I foolishly changed my mind and went to Silverburn, mainly to get a few items for DH from the M&S food hall.
My heart missed a beat, 😉 when I saw a sign saying, 70%off all sale items ,
I managed to pick up a fair number of things for DH and Christmas gifts, including two beautiful picnic baskets, which I will fill with goodies for DD & DIL2. I just don't know, where I am going to store them.
I only had a small trolley and had to go back to the food hall to exchange it for a bigger one.
An assistant recommended trying on everything, as there were no returns. To my amazement, despite going down a size, everything was still too large. My weight loss is even greater than I thought.

I kept my now empty trolley to walk to Tesco, it is a great walking aid for me. Although early, it was so busy, because the schools go back next week. At one point I was hit by a child, swinging a bag! 😱
On the way there I stopped at TK Max, to look for a large pot for my newly purchased, white agapanthus, I already have a beautiful purple one.
They lift wasn't coming down so I gave up went to Tesco, where I picked up a couple of essentials., I had some vouchrers, but after using one and putting it in the slot, it never registered. I had to find an assistant to retrieve it from inside the checkout machine, none of the coupons worked! It was a lengthy process!!

On the way back, I decided to try TKMaxx again and found what I was looking for, it was reduced into the bargain,
I didn't linger, as I usually do, I was in lot of pain and wanted home.
I got in the lift and when it reached the ground floor, the doors would not open, 😱 It was very hot in the lift and I was beginning to feel unwell.
I tried pressing buttons, but nothing happened, I just kept pressing the open door button, until to my relief he door slowly opened.
That will, teach me to go out, when I am unwell!,
I was out so long, DH was fretting. He didn't believe, I had only been to three shops!!

I arrived home, with just enough time to grab some lunch and go to my third microsuction appointment. It didn't work at all.😭 I still can't hear in one ear.
Another attempt will be made in a fortnight. There was much hilarity in the pharmacy, the assistants think I am having an affair with the very shy pharmacist, given the amount of visits, I've made.🤣

Today I have my usual Saturday parish admin. I have some very tricky rotas to do, I know I will be tearing my hair out in frustration.

Have a pleasant day folks, whatever your plans.

ginny Sat 09-Aug-25 08:18:58

Good morning from N. Bucks. The sun is taking its time to show up but should be here soon.
Local food shop this morning and some puds to prepare for tomorrow’s family BBQ. Lemon meringue and apple strudel have been requested.
Two youngest DGSs will arrive about 4 pm for dinner and an overnight stay. We will take them to the BBQ tomorrow and their parents will join us there.
Wishing all a good day with a smile along the way.

Grammaretto Sat 09-Aug-25 08:18:20

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Rainy start. I am tired today. My fellow volunteer at the store yesterday said it was to do with the juxtaposition of the planets. Mercury is in retrograde until tomorrow 🙃
I'm on duty at the open house today as usual.
Sorry for all of you suffering with sadness or illness.
Hope your weekend goes well.

EkwaNimitee Sat 09-Aug-25 08:16:25

Lovely flower peli, a pity we can't smell it as well as see it.

EkwaNimitee Sat 09-Aug-25 08:14:53

Good morning Mick and everyone from a now grey Carlisle with threatening skies. It was sunny at dawn!
Yesterday was another gentle, pottering and sorting day. I am suppressing the urge to have a good pre-autumn deep clean, so far successfully. When autumn does arrive, I will be telling myself that I'll wait till the brighter days of late spring. And so it goes on with me!
Today will be much the same though I want to nip out to post a letter which will give a bit of exercise, I'll wait to see what the weather does. I shall also be having my usual Saturday phone chat with my sister.
The garden is tidy for the moment. I am watching my crab apples ripen steadily so it will soon be time to be making crab apple jelly...which I love but can't buy anywhere.

Have a good day everyone if you can and best wishes to Susan who I hope is feeling better by the day.

Ladyleftfieldlover Sat 09-Aug-25 08:10:07

Morning all from West Oxfordshire.

Our daughter is coming for the weekend. We haven’t seen her for a while. Either she’s been on holiday or we have.

My left thumb isn’t really any better even with a new thumb support. Years ago when my right thumb was exceedingly painful, my GP simply gave me a cortisone injection straight away. Now there is a different system with a person who visits monthly to do these injections. OH has had a couple in his knees. We’ll see.

Have a good weekend everyone.

monk08 Sat 09-Aug-25 08:08:31

Good morning all from a dull Black country.
Enjoy the balloons Mattie a wonderful sight to see and even more enjoyable when inside one.
Madeleine have a great garden visit and 🤞 your back allows to go to Whitby for regatta.
No plans as such other than a visit to the bank to pay a bill.
Washing just finished so will hang it out then as it's Saturday usual full English is calling.
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans and may you all find some ☀️.

Gingster Sat 09-Aug-25 08:05:46

Good morning and it’s rather overcast here in Essex, but a very warm day forecast for us.

Today Dd, DGD and I will hop on a train, travel a couple of stops and go to Lake Meadows, a lovely country park , for a picnic.
Dh is going to a local footie match with ds1.

GG what a lovely busy week you’ve had. I bet the little boys had a whale of a time. .

Madeleine enjoy your day and Mizuna forget the freezer for another day and go on your travels.

The balloon festival sounds amazing GM - I remember last year , it was a bit if a damp squib. Hopefully this year will be better.

Enjoy your weekends whatever you’re doing. 🌼

Grandmabatty Sat 09-Aug-25 08:02:41

Thank you brook. There's no rhyme nor reason to it! Your family day yesterday sounds fun. I just decided to do a Tesco home delivery for later instead, so I'm having a slightly later start.

Sar53 Sat 09-Aug-25 07:43:05

Good morning from Holland where there is blue sky and sun.
Yesterday we went exploring the local area and did a lot of people watching.
We had dinner in the Yacht club restaurant, very tasty.
Today DGD1 is 17, at long last she can start driving lessons, she's very keen to keep up with her friends.
I hope everyone has a lovely weekend, best wishes to all xx

brook2704 Sat 09-Aug-25 07:36:57

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s a lovely sunny start to the day
We all enjoyed a really good day yesterday going Nessie hunting, we drove down to Drumnadrochit, stopped for coffee and a look around and then we met up with DD2 and the other DGC at Urquhart Castle. The children all enjoyed a good run around and it even stayed dry for a picnic lunch down by the loch. I bought M&S curries on the way home to feed everyone and we all had a lively family evening until late. The house is still quiet just now so no idea what today’s plans are yet
Sorry to hear your feet are still sore grandmabatty hope they get better soon
Hope you get a good walk out somewhere today corner and everyone else out and about - enjoy
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐
