What do you wear in the Kitchen? Aprons ? Just Clothes? Let me hear from you !

Elijay Sun 10-Aug-25 10:05:04

I wear an apron all the while I'm indoors. As I don't want my clothes to get bleach stains etc it's a habit I adopted years ago. When I'm seen wearing the apron people ask me if I've been baking. I'm 81 so it could be an age thing from when we had Sunday best.

Same for me.

Looking at the state of my aprons after I've cooked, I'm glad that I wear them.
My daughters and DIL regard my affection for them as amusingly retro - and then are irritated by stains on their clothes from food, bleach, etc.

I wear a Hazmat suit.grin

I don't use bleach ordinarily.
Aprons for baking only...

I have two aprons on the go at the same time……..one is for use in the kitchen, cooking baking, washing up etc. The other is reserved for the bathroom and en suite………the thought of cleaning the toilet and then wearing the same apron for making pastry just doesn’t sit right.

I wear an apron which Dgs refers to as grandma's cooking clothes.

TBH I only wear an apron while cooking Christmas dinner - all too easy for fat to splash on a nice top/jumper while trying to manhandle a big turkey out of the roasting tin.
Somewhere I have a 🎄apron with a robin on, but I might have left it at DD’s.

Just clothes, sometimes nothing for the first cup of tea/coffee.

Mt61 Sun 10-Aug-25 11:01:54

If I am wearing something nice, use my apron but usually no.

A stripey navy and white butcher's type apron. Always have for cooking. The original one came from Habitat 50 years ago.
If I forget to put it on something always gets spilt down my front. Always.

I only ever wear an apron in the kitchen but I always wear it when I'm there. I can mess up my clothes quickly enough without adding food prep mishaps to the list of risk factors.

I wear an apron when I’m cooking or baking. I am messy and have a tendency to wipe my hands down my front. I have in the past ruined several garments.

Don’t want to

Allira Sun 10-Aug-25 11:36:04

Do you mean just clothes or just an apron?

Lathyrus3 Sun 10-Aug-25 11:36:21

My favourite is from the Falklands Islands with all the different wildlife on it. A happy memory apron.

I take it off if I even just need to have a quick wee stitch in time let alone clean. I couldnt mix kitchen and bathroom either😱

😂😂

I probably should wear a hazmat suit as I’ve managed to get bleach on so many t-shirts!

Me too, but mine is a pinny, not an apron.

ginny you're describing my husband when he's eating.
Some bright spark where he works ordered him white polo shirts, he has beetroot in his salad for lunch every day 🙄

I ought to wear an apron but rarely do as I forget. I have one made from adire fabric with a traditional Nigerian folk saying printed on it No food for lazy man

cornergran Sun 10-Aug-25 12:03:51

When cooking I wear an apron over my clothes - if I remember, usually when it’s too late! 😂

henetha Sun 10-Aug-25 12:11:40

I only wear an apron when I'm in the kitchen, cooking or washing up etc. I still have one that my eldest granddaughter made for me when she was at school.
I quite like aprons. It makes sense to keep your clothes clean.

pably15 Sun 10-Aug-25 12:17:36

I don't own an apron....but perhaps I should, I do get messy..
