Oh Blossoming I hope you are okay. x

Blossoming Mon 11-Aug-25 10:09:28

Good morning from cloudy Lancashire.

A very quick visit, my normally on the low side blood pressure has become dangerously high over the weekend and I am seeing a doctor this morning.

Happy Monday 😊

Good morning from the East Kent coast where it is already very hot. I shan’t be doing a lot today as I am useless in this heat. Unfortunately, I have my Tax Return to complete - a job I hate with a passion, so I will try to have a little while on that. I can only do so much before my brain freezes!
How do you all get up so early? Years ago, I was rather looking forward to waking with the lark when I got old, but in the real world, if I didn’t set my alarm, I’d still be asleep at midday! I wouldn’t mind so much if I slept well, but I don’t.
You all make my head spin! You have so many interests, hobbies and obligations. How do you fit them all in and where do you get the energy to do so much? I used to be so active, like a little whirlwind, my friend told me once. Those were the days. I don’t suppose old age and a terminal illness (at present under control with injections) help but I do have to force myself to get on wi
Luckily, I am quite the optimist so I don’t let things get me down too much. If you’re a moaning misery, no-one would want to come and see you!
I must have some breakfast and at least make the effort to do something! Have a good day, all.

My heart sinks on looking at the forecast for the next fortnight because these days hot weather wipes me out. Good thing I have little planned and I comfort myself by thinking how much better it is to have dry weather in the long school summer break. Meanwhile the garden is struggling because I only water the pots - everything else has to take its chance and only the Mediterranean type plants are happy.

It sounds as though many of us are finding the heatwave trying but one thing is certain, and that is that we will soon be complaining about the rain!

Are pics not uploading today?🤔

Morning all from a rapidly warming West Oxfordshire.

We had a lovely lunch yesterday by the river with our daughter. She’s gone back to London now.

Our cleaner is on holiday this week but apart from cat fur the house isn’t too bad.

My thumb is still throbbing. It will be a week on Wednesday since the pain started. I’ll send an engage consult message then. It is my monthly craft group this afternoon, but there’s no way I can do anything today!

I think OH will have to do the Waitrose shop. I would provide a detailed list.

Have a good day everyone and keep hydrated.

Georgesgran Mon 11-Aug-25 09:10:11

Good Morning from Durham. It’s heavily overcast, but I’m sure it will clear later to another fine, warm day.
A strange weekend and I’m obviously still not over ‘the lurgy’ - spending most of yesterday asleep - that’s so not like me!
Usual coffee with a friend today, then I think I’ll start to stock up with wild bird food in readiness for the winter months.

Best wishes to all. X

hollysteers Mon 11-Aug-25 09:03:55

No luck

hollysteers Mon 11-Aug-25 09:02:32

Try again

Good morning from Sunnyside sandhills northwest coast.
Very nice day yesterday to Elizabeth Gaskell’s house in Manchester, more like a pilgrimage as she is one of my favourite novelists. I’m a big fan of her novels and tv adaptations. Now reading her biography and letters. It was so interesting with friendly guides and little cafe with china cups. My unreliable train from here was on time too. My friend was not feeling great, but improved as the day went on.
I do wish more of Gaskell’s works were dramatised, rather than the endless Austens…

Do add it to your list FGT as it is near you and thoughts to you as you negotiate a difficult time.
Just house stuff today, but time in the garden too. Maybe a walk into the dunes.
Pics of the Gaskell house.

Good morning all from a warm and sunny south coast. I have lost an earlier post which was suddenly swamped by an advert for Threads! 😡😡

Watering the allotment later this morning and hope the pressure delivers more than a trickle. Then it will be a quick trip to Aldi. Thankfully I don’t need much.
As it’s going to be very hot tomorrow I’ve cancelled a trip to a garden just over an hour along the coast. I was going to meet my DSiL but I don’t think I’ll cope with the heat. I used to love it but it wipes me out these days. No doubt we’ll reschedule.
Hope everyone has a good day. Take care.

Good morning from Shropshire.Another hot day forecast🥵

I have a phone call with the consultant booked today and also a call from the practice nurse.Community nurse is meant to be contacting me/calling round too.

Yesterday we booked a holiday to Cornwall for next summer.Something to look forward to.We are planning to go to North Yorkshire too but haven’t booked as will hopefully go in a couple of months when I am feeling stronger🙏🏻

Enjoy your day in Whitby Madeleine, safe travels and to all others on the move.

Thoughts with FGT’s ,Marydoll and all with mountains to climb.

Wishing everyone the best day possible🦩🌻

Marydoll Mon 11-Aug-25 08:27:37

Good morning all from a wet Glasgow, where it is 16° C.

I have had little sleep and am wrung out. I think I overdid things yesterday, trying to be a domestic goddess!
DH has just brought me, not one but two hot water bottles to ease my painful joints.♥️

I too have been suffering from tinnitus, since my hearing problems started.. It is weird, but I have become used to it. It seems to be worse at night.

Today, I need to pop into church to put up some rotas. Since completing them on Saturday, they have changed three times!
I email them out to parishioners, but some do not have an email address, nor use Whats App, so hard copies are required.i strive to be inclusive.
It is a lot of work. One gentleman keeps losing his copy and then insists vehemently, he is not on duty!

Yesterday, I also had to alert parishioners that the lady, who died on Friday, is not the well known parishioner, everyone thought it was. They have the same name and it has caused such a commotion! I have been inundated with messages, asking me to confirm that she has died. She hasn't!
An Oscar Wilde moment!

I will stop at Lidl on the way home. For the first time in memory, I have run out of SR flour, I always have spare bags. There is something else I need, but for the life of me, cannot remember what it is.
My brain fog is very problematic at the moment.😌

Bellasnanna, we loved visiting Gozo, especially Ta' Pinu,
The buyers had pulled out of buying our house and we had two houses.😱 I was in despair, because we were going to lose our new house.
I prayed for a miracle there and later received a call from my friend, to say someone wanted to view
our house and they bought it!
DS and DIL, also went there, after trying for fifteen years to conceive. Our darling Dollie was born the following year. year.
I was initially sceptical, but miracles do happen.
.
I wish you all the best of days and a gentle one, for all, who are struggling..

Gingster Mon 11-Aug-25 08:23:34

Good morning all and another hot day to come.

Lots of you saying how tired you are. Me too, the heat drains the life out of me!

Yesterday I got a lot done in the morning as I knew the afternoon would be a washout with no energy left.

This morning I have Chimes group and we’ll probably sit in the garden under the trees, hoping the neighbours enjoy our tinkling (clanging) 🤣.

I’ll go on to the big Sainsbury (between GG and me), and do the weekly shop. Lovely and cool in there with ac.

The washing dries in a trice which is a bonus . 3 loads yesterday with bedding and towels.

Dd and DGD are going to a showing of a film (can’t remember what) at the end of the pier today. Theyll catch the little train up and maybe walk back . 1 and a quarter miles.

Madeleine have another lovely day. 🚗. Enjoy the f and c.
Ash sorry to hear about tinnitus.
RosesandLilac hope your neighbours ‘do’ ends today. Are they usually a noisy lot or is it just this time of year?

Keep cool and keep hydrated 💦

Jaxjacky Mon 11-Aug-25 08:13:12

Morning from a sunny S Hants, NannyJan Swanage is lovely, my daughter and grandchildren are camping near Weymouth as of yesterday, great weather.
Enjoy Whitby Madeleine we’ve not ventured up that way and really ought to.
Yesterday was garden faffing and washing of bedding, dried in a trice, we won a whole chicken on the meat draw. The meat is supplied by the local butcher, chickens are proper free range and delicious.
Voluntary phone today, nipping out for a toenail re paint, quiz tonight.
Best wishes to the poorlies, safe journey to the travellers.
FGT and soops xx

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. A nice day forecast.
Optician first thing. Later I will have the 2 youngest DGC for a visit.
I hope they still enjoy gardening as there are potatoes to lift.
We will make pottery too.

My new lodgers moved in yesterday and seem nice. They gave me a box of Green & Black chocolates and kept saying how much they liked the flat.

I was saddened to see the pictures of the wild fire on Arthur's Seat yesterday. One of my Helpers came across a group of boys with a fire going in woods near the Pentland hills. They ran off when she approached them, shouting insults and she put out the fire. She was out so long I was getting worried but she appeared about 8pm. We tried to report the incident but the police don't make it easy.

Thinking of those with worries and sadness. and tinnitus

Have a good day everyone.

grandMattie Mon 11-Aug-25 08:06:51

Me too, re. tinnitus.
I’ve had it since I was a child but hadn’t realised what it was. As a little girl, I thought it was the stars singing and rather liked it. I’m less enthusiastic these days. Some days, when I’m tired, it’s louder.

monk08 Mon 11-Aug-25 08:04:28

Good morning all from a warm and sunny Black country.
Another load of washing has finished so get that out on the line.
No plans as yet will see what DH wants to do when he awakes.
NannnyJan safe travels, Madeleine enjoy Whitby looked forward to reading all about your day.
Have a good day everyone whatever your plans and may you all find some ☀️.
