Good Morning Everyone,
Its daylight and the sun is just rising here in Brackley this morning, for the start of another hot day.
My regular routine of getting the bus to Bicester ,doing a shop and seeing and talking to people I know.
My Health OK,
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning from Polmont where it's currently 12° and grey. It's only just daylight here.
Yesterday was spent hoovering, cleaning woodwork and ironing. I've nearly finished except for some of the kitchen.
Today is early childcare day and I'm weary. It's the last two days of the school holidays here, so probably soft play at some point. Chinese style chicken curry for dinner. Have a good day all

Good morning all from a dry and lightening north Wales 👋

I’ve been catching up with the last few days - what a busy lot you are! Having my visitor here for five days was marvellous but gosh, doesn’t everything just go to pot when you do absolutely no domestic godessing 🤷‍♀️ - I could do with the loan of your cleaning 🧚‍♀️🧚those who have them…😉

A trot to see my Dad who has his last dressing at the surgery this morning and read his ‘All Clear’ letter from Dermatology- he couldn’t pronounce the diagnosis but it was a long foreign word (Latin?) and he couldn’t be bothered spelling it over the phone - the man’s an absolute hoot😂

Have a good day everyone x

Good morning from s somerset and getting hotter

A poor sleep last night, I was too hot in bed but I will be taking a nap today to catch up

I cycled up past the windmill yesterday, very hard work even with an e motor but I did it. I need to go along several different lanes and the surfaces are very cracked now, long deep wide cracks opening up parallel to the centre of the lanes. Heave and dips appearing. This was on all the lanes and will be very bad when we get winter freeze thaw after rains. Main roads are just about ok

For much of the day I did a lot of knitting and am making good progress, using my home spun yarn.

I just need to get dressed for the allotment. this morning I want to water my brassicas and ward off the mealybugs that have attacked my cabbages at home. We have had an early autumn flush of soft sappy growth and the bugs like that. I did notice that willows overhanging lanes have had to be drastically cut but still not enough in some places

Birds are shouting now and it is getting light so I will be at the allotment in 30 minutes

I can see me making a nice soup today, knitting and napping but first, allotment work

Have a good day

Good morning from south Glos, it’s a pale, cloudy dawn here and I’ve been awake for several hours.
We had a quiet day yesterday until the jollities next door started again mid morning (they went on until 3am this morning). I honestly don’t know how they can keep up the racket. Their neighbours the other side have asked them to pipe down without any joy.
Hopefully today will be the last day 🤞🏻
An early dog walk then housework etc. It’s going to be too warm to do anything later so I am hoping for a quiet afternoon to have a snooze. I could use the Shed yesterday because it was too noisy for me.
Best wishes to all 🌹

Good morning from a dry, sunny Bristol.
The balloon festival was a great success this year with flights twice day over the weekend. The light wind and sunshine helped.
Yesterday was quiet. Church in the morning (together with another invitation to join Mothers’ Union; jnot sure).
In the late afternoon, my upstairs neighbour issued her usual invitation for a cuppa, but outside this time. We sat in the shade and chatted.
Tesco this morning and hygienist this afternoon; expensive day!
Three volunteer residents have joined up to arrange monthly coffee mornings here. I organised the date, printed them out and distributed them to everyone.
I hope that everyone, especially the FGTs and MD are coping. Be careful in this heat, forecast to last a fortnight.
Carpe diem. 🌷🦩🦩🦩🦩

Bore da Mick and everyone.
Late waking up this morning. 5 o’clock! Looks quite bright here in Carmarthenshire. Bit more gardening today I think. A restless day yesterday, so we moved all the furniture around in the living room. Will I still like it this morning?
Have a good day everyone.

Ashcombe Mon 11-Aug-25 06:31:24

Good morning from a fine start in Torbay.

Despite apparently sleeping well, I feel tired for much of each day but struggled up to church yesterday. Later we walked over the Downs to see the charity fair where many stallholders were doing brisk business. A good local community event.

I think I might have tinnitus to add to my list of ailments! A dozen at the last count but I know others are worse off, I know. Back to my exercise class today after a month off.

Wishing everyone a good week. 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩

Good morning from a grey NE.
Did not sleep well, stomach grumbled all night and it was very warm.
DS, DIL and GD2 had an uneventful journey to Berlin and are settled in their apartment. I expect I will be receiving a lot of photos as GD has her own SLR camera.
Wishing everyone a good day.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Going to be a scorching South Yorkshire day. I slept through the night. Unusual for me. I had an early nip down to the nearest of out garden centres yesterday and bought three autumn winter heathers to finish off the new front bed. I’m going to try and get them planted early this morning. I batch cooked some meals for the freezer and had a walk down the lane to see if I could find any blackberries but I’ve well and truly missed the boat this year. Managed about half a pound! I noticed that there are lots of sloes, though, this year. First time I’ve seen them for a long time, so there will be sloe gin this winter! Today I’m making another batch of jam and giving the kitchen a good clean down. I shall be trying to stay out of the heat!
Have the best day you can folks.

Good morning Mick and everyone from a glorious morning in Cheshire. The sun is up and the moon has not yet set.
I think the heron has had all my goldfish. I've been out looking for them and they usually come up for food. Still, it has to hunt for it's survival but did it have to take all of them? Last count was 19.

Commiserations about your tinnitus Ashcombe. I'm plagued with it and it had been much better recently, but yesterday started off bad and it got worse as the day went on. May be atmospherics? I subscribe to a couple of support groups and get some good coping strategies from them.

I shall be working on a painting most of the day. It's promised to someone and that gives me the impetus I need to focus on that.

Enjoy your day, whatever you have planned. Kind thoughts to those with worries. {flowers}

grandMattie Mon 11-Aug-25 06:54:14

Greyduster, if you have more sloes than you want gin, have you tried Apple and sloe jelly? It’s delicious. Just stew a load of apples, preferably green or Bramley, with your sloes then carry on as usual for jelly - 1 lb sugar to 1 pt liquid.

NannyJan53 Mon 11-Aug-25 06:57:01

Good morning from an already warm Black Country.

Just having my coffee, then last minute packing of car. We are off to collect caravan in Somerset this morning, then drive down to Swanage for the week! We were last there in Oct 2022 when I remember the weather was sunny then.

I sympathise Ashcombe I have had tinnitus since around 2010. I find now I hardly notice it, the brain seems to tune it out after a while, but at the start I worried how on earth I would cope with it. I hope you find that it lessens in time.

Wishing you all the best day possible.

Greyduster Mon 11-Aug-25 07:08:49

I’ll add that to my list of foraging recipes, Mattie, thankyou!

GrannyGravy13 Mon 11-Aug-25 07:13:29

Good morning all from a glorious S E Essex.

Off to the gym first thing, then I must tackle the ironing.

Good morning from drizzly South Lanarkshire.

I’m just checking in really as I haven’t much to say.

The date of my nephew’s funeral has been set and it falls during the time we should have been on holiday. I’ve already been in touch with the holiday company who unfortunately cannot change the dates so this morning I will ring the travel insurance company and see what they say.

Afterwards I’m taking my DGD into town to choose a birthday present, we will have lunch somewhere along the way which will be a tonic.

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

kittylester Mon 11-Aug-25 07:15:50

Good morning all from a sunny North Leicestershire.

We have a new carpet being laid in the playroom this morning so need to get going to clear the small stuff in there. The fitters will move the chairs etc. thankfully.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Good morning everyone from mid Essex, blue skies and sunshine again ,a pleasant 14 degrees at the moment. A hot day is forecast.
Went for my usual walk yesterday and met one of my dog walking friends for a chat. I started the ironing mountain and hope to finish it today. Nothing planned today, apart from trying to keep cool.

nannyjan have a lovely week in Swanage! I still miss our touring caravan especially when the weather is good.

grandmabatty I hope your DGSs enjoy the last two days of their summer holidays, and that you’re not too exhausted from looking after them.

Thinking of those grans with mountains to climb and hoping that life gets a little easier.
Have the best day possible everyone.

Bellasnana Mon 11-Aug-25 07:20:29

Good morning from Malta where the high is due to reach 39°C.

I ended up not doing much yesterday as, like Ashcombe, I feel so tired even though I’ve been sleeping better than usual.

I was so sleepy at 2pm that I went back to bed and slept for two hours. What a waste of a day.

Watched tennis from late afternoon onwards so I enjoyed that.

Today I am having DGS1 as his mum and brother are off to Gozo for the day and he doesn’t want to go. I have no idea how I am going to entertain him all day.

I’m still in bed drinking my tea and have received a message that they are on the way.

Have a good day folks, I had better get my skates on!☀️

luluaugust Mon 11-Aug-25 07:22:45

Good morning from a sunny W Kent. Pantglas unfortunately my lovely cleaner is busy this morning. Ash sorry to read about the tinnitus I am another one who has had it for years as my hearing has slowly deteriorated.
Early walk for a newspaper and when the cleaner has gone and the ironing is done I shall sit in the shade and read.
Roses I hope your neighbours are quieter
Best wishes

brook2704 Mon 11-Aug-25 07:26:38

Good morning everyone from Inverness where we’ve light grey clouds and a bit of rain in the air
Well done with your cycling Karma you really are an inspirational lady
Well the house is far too quiet now as DD1 and family have returned to Cambridge, I’ve really enjoyed them staying here and we had a lovely time. Today back to some sort of routine, I’ll try to get some gardening done later
What a shame about the fish Sallyforth the same thing happened to us a good few years back so we gave up trying to keep fish in the little pond, herons are really determined
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

cornergran Mon 11-Aug-25 07:27:26

Morning Mick, morning All from a sunny corner of Somerset.

Yesterday was just right, 24 degrees and a light breeze I was very happy beginning to cut down a climbing rose, two will be removed along with a beyond rescue wooden pergola in a garden re-vamp later in the year. I’m sad to see them go while looking forward to new plans.

Mr C has been quite unwell and slept for most of the day. We initially thought a cold, not so sure now as he is so exhausted. Covid test was negative. See what today brings. I may have to twist his arm to request a GP appointment.

A little more outside for me this morning before it gets too warm, the rest of the week looks difficult to manage heat-wise. Out with the fans again. On the positive side the laundry dries quickly.

Another here with tinnitus ash. Mine began in my late 40’s and was initially very disconcerting. I had no idea what it was. GP dispatched me immediately to I think ENT, a long while ago now, where it was quickly confirmed there was no physical cause. Those were the days! As nannyjan said it became less intrusive as my brain adjusted, like most ailments it’s more noticeable when I’m tired or stressed.

Have the best day you can everyone, stay cool.

Good morning everyone from a very bright and sunny 🌞 Northampton, expected to be very warm today.

Yesterday I enjoyed Sense and Sensibility at the cinema with my friend. We have booked two more films, The Naked.Gun, and The Life of Chuck, which both looked very good on seeing the trailers. Had a browse round the shops afterwards, and stocked up on birthday cards, as they were four for the price of three.

Yoga again this morning, then round the corner to the little cafe for coffee.

When I get home will clean the bathrooms and have a general tidy up. Then a quiet afternoon with the newspapers and my book.
Some nice cold chicken for dinner tonight.

Wishing all a pleasant day.

Love and best wishes to all my friends

Good morning Mike and all GN's up and about on this still dry and sunny ish morning in North Yorkshire. Another rubbish night, but who cares. I am getting ready for another trip out and am going to Whitby, hoping , fingers crossed, to find a decent disabled parking bay near the harbour . (huh! pigs might fly¬)

Had a lovely day at the Saltburn Folk festival yesterday. The weather was lovely all day and went to sinagrounds and all sorts. So I know I look like a little old lady with white hair etc, but really I am about 9 years old inside and still enjoy all the things I did then. So today last day of the whitby regatta and there will be a big firework display about 9.45pm tonight and I shall be there to watch it all. Who cares what time I get home??

I am very weary, and the car isnt even sorted out from yesterday, and in desperate need of some fuel, before I go anywhere. But I shall ignore all ironing and jobs waiting to be done. - Can see my mother frowning at my sluttish behaviour but dont care - . The jobs will still be here when I get back!! So my next task is to get the rubbish out of the car, go and get some bread to make sandwiches with etc. Then pack the car up with some waqrmer jumpers etc for later on and get sorted and off!! I dont think there is a great deal to recommend it being a widow on your own, but on a day like this it is fine. Dont have to fit in with anyone else , just do my own thing!

There are plenty of jobs waiting to be attended to, but did manage to water my new plants last night and will give them another go this morning, before I leave. Then they will have perked up ready to be planted, so tonight I shall be moving pots about and deciding on the best combination before actually plantig them.

Tonight I must also get going on my plan of action to shake the wretched council up about the dreadful state of roads and paths round the town. I am gathering plenty of support online from around here as everyone is saying the same, but we need an organised plant of constant drip drip drip, at council meetings coucillors surgeries etc, and I plan to make a roat so that on every occasion there is someone complaining about the situation, so that they cannot say it is only the odd one and if we keep it up and dont give up, they will get the picture that we intend that something is done on the subject. Most people have phones with them now, so have thought of a plan to get a map of the town, and get everyone to take pictures of the worst places near them and then we will pin pictures all over the map to show that there is not even one path or road that is safe and decent to drive along, or walk along. That coupled with a big placard asking how much we think the council will have to pay in compensation for injories sustained and damage to cars and scooters, and hopefully that should get a result!!

As an ex lecturer and teacher I always have that feeling that september is another start of the year, and is a time when I can start a major plan of campaign, and will not sop, until they are sick of the sight of me and do something!! (Must start to think of new verses to the tune of We shall Overcome!)

Well it is promising a good hot day, so sunhat and suncream must be added to the pile of things to go in the car, and I am getting a bit sick of sandwiches so today may take advantage of being at the seaside and have frish and chips for a treat.

Roses and Lilac, I think I wood look out a recording of the 1812 overture or put radio 3 on at full blast when the noise level gets too loud next door. When they quieten down you do the same or vice versa if the noise increases!! Perhaps get in cahoots with your neighbour from the other side and blast them from both angles. They should soon get the message. You have asked politely and they have shown no courtesy or manners, so return the compliment!! In the meantime keep a log of when the noise occurs and how loud it is , so that if this escalates you can contact the council and possibly the police about noise pollution,As a singer, I do have a bit of an advantage for this sort of thing and once put my recording of Una Voce poco fa on at full blast with my own added voice at full pelt . After about 5 minutees they appeared to get the message and turned the racket down!!

Wel the time is racing on and I need to get cracking so wish everyone a great day and will be back to read your posts and what you are all up to later tody. Enjoy your day everone and remember to include something tht YOU like, not just pleasing everyone else in the family.
