Good Morning Everyone,

Regular routine , once I had some breakfast , tidy up and wait for the bus to Bicester , hopefully say hello to those I know .
Health OK,
Take Care,
Mick

Good afternoon to anyone who reads Mick’s Good Morning thread late in the day!

I really just wanted to say, I hope things improve for all who have additional health concerns at the moment -

Susan, I hope you don’t have to go through another scary night like last night and get back to forward progress

Marydoll, I was really sorry to read that you have yet another health condition to add to your list. Autoimmune conditions seem to like to keep each other company, as my DD2 knows only too well. I hope you get some helpful treatment as soon as possible.

Blossoming, I am glad to read that you are on the correct medication now to stabilise your BP.

FGT, your DH sounds an amazing man who has an amazing wife - I hope he has positive results from his scan.

LFL, hope you have by now, had a response from your GP about your thumb and some remedy for whatever is causing the pain.

Many others on here with ongoing challenges - I hope for positive things for you to outweigh the negative.

DH and I are recovering from a delightful but exhausting day out with DGD (6y) in Brighton yesterday. We spent a fair bit of time in the Lego shop and toy shop which were cooler than outside and had lunch under the shade of the trees in the Pavilion Gardens. We then went to the library to use the toilets (!) and DGD decided she liked trying out all the little ‘nooks’ that are there for the smaller readers - some complete with ‘cool’ lighting. DGD has, unfortunately ‘gone off’ books - she started the summer reading challenge but has only read two of the six books she needs and could not be persuaded to so much as glance at a printed page, even when accompanied by great illustrations.

We returned DGD and ourselves home and were heading for an early night to find that our hall radiator was on and absolutely blasting out heat. We had a new boiler fitted about six weeks ago, together with a Hive controller. Our phone would not connect to the Hive, even after following all the troubleshooting instructions and eventually we turned off the boiler at the mains switch and went to bed. Our installer is sending someone out to look at it ‘before the end of the day’. In the meantime it has turned grey and cool outside 😲

Georgesgran

It’s a joke cross.
Usually MD as her posts are often long and hugely entertaining, although with underlying concerns about her health.
👋🏻. MD.

I believe, I have previously explained this.
I do understand that not everyone understands my odd sense of humour, nor appreciates it! 😉

Too hot for me, here in Co Durham.
Pleasant evening yesterday met up with some friends for a catch up. Out for an early dinner tonight with DD1 and Dsoutlaw, to our local pub/restaurant.

DD2 and family are off to Turkey on Saturday so we are expecting their two dogs on Friday for 12 days, not a problem as they’re little sweeties who don’t require walking. Dd2 just texted to ask us to have them this afternoon so they can go to the Metro Centre, holiday shopping me thinks. I’ve a feeling we may have to keep the dogs 😂.
Hope all with worries and stresses have a better day, thinking of you all.

I see that quite often, something someone has posed has a ‘crossing out’ line through part of it. Given it’s possible to change what you write as you write it, I wonder why this is. Can anyone tell me, please?

Blossoming Wed 13-Aug-25 09:43:03

Good morning everyone from hot and sunny Lancashire.

MrB has gone out early for a motorbike ride, he should be back by lunchtime. I am reclining on my pillows contemplating getting up and dressed! I am starting to feel a little better now my prescription has been corrected and I’m hoping there’s no lasting damage.

Hope you have a better day today Susan56 and no hospital visit necessary xx

Glad MrC is improving Cornergran.
Thinking of our poorly grans and those with troubles.

Wishing you all a good day, whatever you’re doing 🌹

Good Motning from Durham. Blue sky and the forecast is for a hot day.
I have new neighbours - they seem very nice and say they will be doing a lot of work on the house - which has been poorly maintained by the previous family, so we’re expecting months of chaos in the cul-de-sac.
I got DH2’s Little Dog last night, it’s a long story, but if it helps her, that’s all that matters.
I’m meeting my poorly friend for coffee/lunch today. She text late last night that her DD’s house alarm was going off. I offered to go and look, but she said a friend of her Son-in-l was on his way over. We are going to look at the damage after lunch - a back window is broken, so have they been burgled or what?
I’ll take Little Dog out for a walk just before dusk. The owlets in the box are really noisy, but I didn’t see the parent bird last night.

Best wishes to all. X

Susan you must’ve been so worried, I hope everything is delivered and the system improved today.

Good morning all from Glasgow the sun is trying to peek through at the monent.

Yesterday was a very long and tiring day.
The meeting turned out to be a full health and safety inspection of the parish premises, which are huge.
The P,P hadn't expected this.
He looked quite unwell, having being overdoing things, after his recent surgery. He should never have been back so soon.
There was no option, but for me to offer do the walk round with the inspector, especially as I know all, the nooks and crannies.
The PP and I were trying not to laugh, when the inspector told us that the visit previous to ours, was to a parish, where the P.P was very difficult.
It was our former grumpy, P.P! 🤣
I was exhausted, it took two hours to complete the inspection..
My plan had been to pop into B&M for some gardening materials on the way home, but I had to go home for a rest.

Later I popped back out to B&M and by chance came across sour, water melon sweets, which Dollie tasted on holiday in Malta this year and hasn't been able to find here. She will be one happy wee girl because she hasn't stopped raving about them. 😍

The Sale sign next door in Matalan sucked me in.
I spotted school dresses reduced to £4.
Standing swithering, I messaged DIL, who can be really fussy to see if she wanted any. I was behaving like those people in the supermarket, who block the reduced section with their trolley, to prevent anyone else from getting in.🤣
I ended up, having to hang the dresses up on a rail and send photos, to ensure she was perfectly happy with my choices!
Everything I picked up in Matalan was for my best girls and DH.
I remained strong and was not seduced by the bargains, I did not need. 😉

Today, I have the hairdresser's. It will be a long session, my stylist is still on sick leave and the owner is trying to cover her clients, as well as her own.
I don't really like her cutting my hair, but my hair grows so fast and thick, I have no option. Even washing my hair, leaves me exhausted at the moment.
I seem to becoming more unwell with each passing day.
My arms and legs are now covered in strange purple marks, unlike the usual ones, caused by my heart meds. I tried to take photos with my phone, in order to Google it. It didn't work!🤣
They are so obvious, due to the fact my arms are on show, because of the weather.

Wishing you all a pleasant day and prayers for all, who have mountains to climb.
I hope all goes well for your grandson tomorrow GMB. I used to have to support the P.1 teachers on the first couple of days of the new academic year to help with upset pupils and their sobbing parents,

Susan, ♥️

brook2704 Wed 13-Aug-25 08:35:57

Susan56 hoping things are sorted for you today 💐

karmalady Wed 13-Aug-25 08:35:37

Madeleine, please go to your opticians. You could well have a microscopic bit of grit in there, which is stopping the healing process. You have been out and about a lot, in areas with breezes. Opticians is best as they have the equipment

Next stage if you don`t go, could be infection

Susan56 Wed 13-Aug-25 08:32:51

Thank you cornergran

cornergran Wed 13-Aug-25 08:30:21

Good to hear from you susan. 🤞 issues are resolved today.

Good morning all from a very sunny and warm day here on the east coast of Fife. Gingster I too remember the day like yesterday when my handsome son was born and wondered where that came from .🤣he’s now a handsome 53yr old with 4 lovely children and a grandson I’ve also got a beautiful 42 yr old daughter who has 2 handsome teenagers I’m so blessed.

Take care my friends keep wearing the sun cream 😎😎

aggie Wed 13-Aug-25 08:25:15

Good Morning all from a warm Co Armagh , no mist this morning l hope that means it won’t be as hot today
I am breaking in my new trainers , I wore them all day yesterday , no problems , but I didn’t do much walking !
I tried out some crochet yesterday, thank goodness my wrist isn’t objecting
I usually read the thread in bed on my kindle tablet , but can’t write on it , then it’s too late to put a message , but the heat drives me out of my stuffy bedroom these days , so I’m in the cooler living area typing away , with my one finger technique 🤣
Best wishes for a good day

whywhywhy Wed 13-Aug-25 08:17:36

Good morning from the midlands. Hot and sunny here today.

Jaxjacky Wed 13-Aug-25 08:00:17

Morning, cloudy and due 24 today from 31 yesterday when I picked more tomatoes, washed floors, fiddled with online shopping list and rang my 92 year old Uncle.
Out for lunch today with a friend after we’ve collected MrJ’s car from its oil/oil filter change, kitchen needs a clean down too.
Good Mr c is improved corner and I'm pleased you are ok Susan.
I might make a curry later in the slow cooker, lots of fresh spinach in the garden.

Good morning from a wonderfully cloudy and cooler Cornwall, so I can think straight today. Coffee at Starbucks with my younger son yesterday while I continue to be away from home, zoo-keeping my eldest son's pets. This morning I must scoot home and check on my leaking loo, which my landlord will be sorting very soon, and collect some different books to bring back to my temporary residence. 25° maximum forecast today, a bit hot for me but not unmanageable.

Gingster Wed 13-Aug-25 07:56:41

Good morning all and it’s very still and bright here in Essex.

It’s DS2’s 50th birthday today. I remember every minute of the day he was born. He’s in Barbados with his family and having a great time, so he’ll remember this one for sure. 🥳

Today I’ll bus up to town (too hot to manage that very steep hill) and meet my pal for coffee. I’ll pop to M and s for ready food as I’m having my cataract op tomorrow.
This afternoon I’ll catch the bus to the hospital for my pre assessment. Door to door so no worry about parking.

Take care and keep cool ☀️

hollysteers Wed 13-Aug-25 07:55:22

Good morning from Sunnyside sandhills northwest coast.
Small turnout at the music club yesterday, people are away on holiday, but it went well. I felt tired after it and fell asleep in the chair.

I put the car through a car wash. It has its MOT today and it’s sixteen years old. I’m very fond of the poor old thing, so hope it makes it.
I have to decide what to do with some shares from late DH that have resurfaced. It’s handy as I’m having a bedroom redecorated and two windows replaced.
Hope you feel better today Susan56 and thoughts to all🌺

Ladyleftfieldlover Wed 13-Aug-25 07:47:24

Morning all from West Oxfordshire.

I was up at the crack of dawn sending an Engage Consult message about my thumb.

It is younger son’s 40th birthday today. Unbelievable!

I will be waiting at home today for the expected call back from the surgery.

Have a good day everyone.

monk08 Wed 13-Aug-25 07:46:22

Good morning all from the Black country another sunny start to the day.
Yesterday the boys chose to go to the farm its changed a lot since I last went, there is now a soft play barn with cafe a go cart area and lots more animals to feed. We also had a walk around the sunflower maze shall make a point to go earlier next year sunflowers not at their best but still an enjoyable walk. Younger Dgs wanted to do the tractor ride so I went with him he was not to impressed thought it should have gone faster.
Today DH has his RSV jab then I might try and persuade him to eat out.
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans keep cool☀️.

BlueSapphire Wed 13-Aug-25 07:44:56

Good morning everyone from another bright and sunny 🌞 day in Northampton; will stay the same all day.

I did not attempt to join my walking group yesterday as it was so hot. But I did hop on the bus down to the village to change my next hair appointment. I realised that I had double booked and after unsuccessfully trying to ring and then going on line to change it, gave up and went in person. Lily (my stylist) whose business it is, kindly found the time to alter it straight away, so I am now going the day before.
I then popped into the bakery for a coffee, and got the next bus home.

Finished washing the bathroom floors when I got home, then had lunch, and spent the afternoon doing some essential admin and then reading.
Made delicious chicken soup for my dinner with enough left over for today.

Meeting fellow dancers this morning for coffee at Delapre Abbey the other side of town. It.was a nunnery/convent during the Middle Ages and I think it was where Edward 1 and the body of his deceased wife Eleanor of Castile rested on their way to London for her burial. There is an Eleanor Cross not far from the Abbey to mark their stay. The Abbey was restored a few years ago.

No other plans for today, but take it easy in the heat.

Wishing all a pleasant day.
