Regular routine , once I had some breakfast , tidy up and wait for the bus to Bicester , hopefully say hello to those I know .
Health OK,
Take Care,

Good morning, it’s barely dawn here in south Glos, I’m just having a quick coffee before heading out with tiddler and then bigger dog - I can’t manage them together and DH doesn't ‘do’ early mornings.
Yesterday tiddler and I had a very pleasant walk, met several other dog walkers and enjoyed the peaceful countryside. It was getting too warm for her by 7.30 hence getting out before 6 today.
I didn’t do a lot yesterday apart from enjoying drawing so more of that today after I strip the bed and clean through.
I’m longing for cooler weather 🙏
Best wishes to you all 🌹

Good morning from Malta where a high of 39°C is forecast.

Had a lazy day yesterday apart from going out to get petrol and give the car a run, then watched tennis until quite late.

No plans yet for today other than the usual jobs around the house.

Have a good day all.☀️

Good morning from a dry, warm Bristol.
Me too, I’m longing for cooler weather, I really, really don’t “do” this sort of heat.
I was very busy yesterday, in a footling sort of way, but failed completely to get my iPad and (new) PC to talk together to transfer the photos and free some memory. I didn’t bother trying the iPhone.
At the worst of the heat, I went to the Mothers’ Union meeting in church, to make up the numbers. It was someone’s 90th and most of the members were away. It’s not really my cup of tea, although I knew the members and they are very pleasant.
The rest of the day was spent sitting in a darkened room, avoiding the heat. I find it very debilitating. At least today is forecast too be under 30C.
Busy day as usual for a Wednesday, including our book group. It was “Casino Royale”; such a silly book!
May those with mountains to climb have a good day. 🌺🌹

Bore Da everyone, from S W Wales, where the sky is a milky white and it is warm already.
We hardly ventured outside yesterday as the heat was stifling so hope it is a tad cooler today.
Hope everyone wasn’t too discombobulated by the heat. Best wishes for a good day today .

Sallyforth Wed 13-Aug-25 06:03:26

Good morning Mick and everyone. Not a cloud in the sky but the sun's not up yet in Cheshire. Looks like another lovely day to come with the temperature already 23C.

Out for lunch today at a lovely pub in the country. The Cheshire countryside is lovely.

Nothing urgent today, so will get on with a painting someone is expecting soon. Made an error on it yesterday and hope to correct it today.

Enjoy your day whatever you have planned. If you don't really like the heat I hope you find a cool spot. Best wishes to all, especially those of us with worries. flowers

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Going to be another hot day in South Yorkshire. Yesterday was what my mother used to call “muddly” - overcast but very close and warm. I went to the gym early to avoid driving in the heat and then spent the rest of the day in the house, cleaned the bathrooms, the kitchen cabinets and tiles and then briefly in the garden, deadheading. There is no writers group today so I blow the dust off my watercolours. I have an idea for a painting.
Have the best day you can, folks.

Grandmabatty Wed 13-Aug-25 06:28:37

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 14° and sunny. It's to reach 28° later which is more than hot enough for me. Sallyforth enjoy your lunch.
Yesterday the boys were very good until the last five minutes when they were like caged lions. Dgs1 was a bit emotional in the morning and didn't enjoy soft play so we only stayed for an hour. I think he's anxious about school today but isn't saying anything.
Today the painter will arrive about nine. I hope he does the living room first, then the kitchen as that way I can begin to put things back in their rightful place tomorrow. I will pick up my prescription later then work in the school library for an hour this afternoon. Probably a wilted salad for dinner. Have a good day all.

Good morning from overcast s somerset, a few hours respite this morning and then hot sun again

Wonderful yesterday, I just floated from one thing to another after my walk. Made 4 crumbles for my freezer, autumn food, gooseberry and banana. Lunch was stir fry with mozarella topping and one for today, bit of cleaning followed by knitting until 4.30. I wanted leeks and went to the allotment, 34 degrees when I left here and 32 when I returned with leeks plus a lovely yellow courgette from the swap table. I cleaned and chopped 4 leeks and dried for freezer bagging. The other 6 will be done next week. Always useful and I just about have freezer space

I tired of knitting and made a beautiful oil blend for self-care, slept 8 hours last night and avoided the afternoon nap

Food is easy today but I have a stack of washing to do, I had to change 3 times yesterday, I was soaked each time because of the heat

Today I have some things to put away, I reached the point of tiredness last night and just left everything, I wanted my bed

I see that my butternut squash leaves are becoming yellow and crispy. Not bad timing as I only grew two and only in halos on top of an old vegtrug. There are 7 good sized squash and they are all turning beige. The leaves can die and I will leave the squash to cure. They will store a long time once cured.

The raspberries want to curl up for winter too, the leaves are becoming crispy

I am very in tune with nature, not that woke stuff which has just been `invented,` real nature and seasons and I feel myself getting ready to hibernate but that won`t happen until after I have planted my autumn alliums. In the meantime, I am store-building, making things tidy and so on

Have a good day

Good morning from an overcast Torbay, following a very warm day yesterday.

DS and DGS3 are staying in a nearby hotel for a few nights although it’s not a place I’d recommend and, now he’s seen it, he understands why. His father can’t accommodate them this time and I don’t have the space. DS says DGS (aged 9) is excited at the prospect of staying in a hotel so hasn’t noticed how ropey it is. I wanted to book them into a better but more expensive place as it’s my treat but DS chose this one because it was cheaper.

Last night DH and I were on duty (Front of House) at our theatre for The Good Life. Unfortunately, my defective hearing prevented me hearing much of it, even though I adjusted my aids on the App. The main actors did good impersonations of the characters and we enjoyed meeting them in the bar afterwards.

Happy hump day! 🦩💐🦩🥰🦩

Good morning all from a brightening North Leicestershire.

Bad planning means that we are birthday shopping with DGD2 today. We will have lunch out though - so that's a bonus.

As it is going to be hot, our gardener is coming at 8 rather than her normal 9.30ish. And our cleaner is due at 9. It's all go here. Good job we are going out.

Have the best day possible everyonem

Grandmabatty Wed 13-Aug-25 06:54:11

I've just read aboutSusan's problem on another thread. I hope you managed to get it resolved and haven't landed back in hospital

luluaugust Wed 13-Aug-25 07:03:00

Good morning from a warm W Kent. DH and DGS3 still fast to sleep, I’m wide awake now. Yesterday was busy with GS coming and going and I had a long chat with him sitting in the garden. His new life after University is beginning to come together. Today he is off to help run another children’s holiday event and we are ferrying him around and eventually home. I do think anytime with adult GC is very precious, how busy they all are.
Lots of nerves here for tomorrow’s A level results both GDs fear the worst
Best wishes to all

madeleine45 Wed 13-Aug-25 07:07:40

Good morning Mick and all GN's on a dry , sunny and still morning here in North Yorkshire. Looks as though it is going to be very hot but there is a possibility of a shower or two, so of course whatever you are wearing it will be wrong for whatever you are doing.

Today I am going to have a change for me. I am going to meet a friend who lives a bit of a distance from me. So we are both driving to a convenient place to meet and then I am going to be the passenger for a change. I am happy to drive anywhere but it will be nice to be driven today as we plan to go to Robin Hoods bay. Hopefully in the middle of the week it should be a bit quieter than the weekend, and I will have my disabled badge with me, but if we cannot find a place to park we can always go elsewhere. So I am practising my royal wave but wont take the tiara to wear as it is too hot!! You do get used to throwing everything in the car, so mine always has everything from macs to spare swimming stuff, ready to meet any eventuality or change of plan. So I now have to be more selective, have to iron my linen trousers and top, and put suncream and sandals etc in a bag but along with a sweater, as we can get seafrets etc and sometimes it can be decidedly chilly at the coast.

I have been having quite a gad about time, but that is one thing about living alone, you can change your mind and do whatever fits in with your day. I do wish I could swim, but have another 4 weeks to go at least, until it is safe to do so. I miss the exercise which is the best thing I can do for my back etc., and all the people I meet at the baths etc. So I cant even help myself loosen up, just when I could really do with it. Went out on the yellow peril and honestly the roads and the pavements seemed worse than ever. I got the things I needed but paid for it being jolted and bumped around where ever I went and coming home with the shopping etc but in a much worse and more painful state!

I am still struggling with my eye, religiously putting in the drops, but it seems much slower to improve than the first one and whilst I can see fine to drive or walk around , reading fine print is hopeless and very frustrating. Went to the euro games group last night, an interesting game, and feel I have learnt quite a bit, but had to ask the other players to read out the instructions on the cards as too small for me to read, and being a pub the lights were overhead and not helpful to reading at all. (I am carefully learning to ask for euro games now and not adult board games, which have earned me some odd looks in charity shops!!) I felt very tired yesterday after all my singing and being at the regatta etc, but did manage to catch up with a bit of stuff in the house, more washing done, things finally returned to their proper place. Have watered my bargain plants well in their pots but not had time to think of where I am going to put them . I always think of where they might look right, then put them still in the pots in position and leave them for a couple of days to see if that is right or move them about and then when my back allows - or if I can persuade a friend to help, get them all planted in the borders. Must get them well watered tonight, but if I am back in time of course will be off again to the whist drive, oh my social calendar is so full at the moment!! but actually when I get back from the whistdrive it will be late and cool and just the time to give the plants a good watering. So just listening to the wonderful Bach before 7, and having my much needed coffee and then it is action stations,. We are meeting about 9 in a cafe Nero, I use them a lot as a meeting place. They are usually big enough to have plenty of space to find somewhere to sit, and whoever is there first can get a coffee and sit and read the paper or whatever and so if it is cold or raining or windyy or whatever you are safely ensconced and ready for the off as soon as the other person arrives. So fingers crossed that they day pans out as we hope.

Mick did you see any of the meteorites in the dark this morning? Today is supposed to be a good day to see them before the dawn, but I didnt catch sight of any but not enough dark sky here I think. GrandMattie I am with you about trying to keep cool and have the windows open but the curtains shut all day to keep the inside cooler. Try my tip, I rinse a flannel out in very cold water, squeeze it until it stops dripping, then put it in a plastic bag and wrap that in some cloth so maybe a teatowel or old t shirt and then drape that round my neck. It might look a bit odd but I dont care and am on my own anyway but lovely and cooling. I take one out with me when I am out and about, but just in a plastic bag, and kept in the coolest part of the car, so that I can take it out of the bag and wipe round my face and hands is very worthwhile. I go into portuguese mode when it is hot, leaving the mess here to sort later and get to the supermarket about 6am so that I am back home before the heat is too much, and then creep about my darkened home in the height of the heat, only opening curtains etc in the evening

Well whatever your plans GN's today hope things go well and you stay cool and enjoy the day. Find your sunhats and a shady spot and sit out and read and have a chance to enjoy the weather as it never stays long does it? Be kind to yourselves as well as others!

peli Wed 13-Aug-25 07:09:53

Good morning from MS, where the high is only 31c - cooler temps here, at last! Today we're crossing the bayous into New Orleans to do some shopping - including picking up some groceries, as I find their supermarkets much more "exotic" than our local ones, lol! Beignets may feature in our elevenses...I hope everyone has something nice happen today.

Redcar Wed 13-Aug-25 07:15:41

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. Sunshine and blue skies again, some high cloud around too. Hot yesterday, so I had my usual walk a bit earlier. It’s too hot for some of the dog walkers, but I did meet one lady walking a friend’s dog. Did a bit more deadheading in the garden and watered some of the wilting plants in the evening.

Nothing planned for today, apart from a walk to the nearest shop to get some fruit. The washing machine is churning away and no doubt the washing will dry very quickly outside. Some of the cherry tomatoes are ready to pick, but the larger ones are only ripening very slowly.
grandmabatty I hope that the first day back at school isn’t too traumatic for your DGS. I used to hate going back so sympathise with his apprehension.
Thinking of all those who are struggling either with the heat or with health problems and hoping that the day brings some relief.
Have the best day possible everyone.

Grammaretto Wed 13-Aug-25 07:15:43

Good morning all from Bonnie Scotland. It's been perfect temperatures here. Yesterday I spent the morning in my cool pottery studio and the afternoon in the garden chatting, knitting and drinking tea.

Today the DGD are coming in the morning. Yesterday they were at the beach with the other GP and cousins. They head home tomorrow and school begins next week.

Theatre tonight in Edinburgh. I have persuaded my Italian helper to chum me. She cooked a fabulous meal last night.
This warm weather can't last forever. Enjoy it while you can.

Kalu Wed 13-Aug-25 07:16:52

Good morning from Glasgow where it is a warm overcast start to the day reaching 29deg. later. A drastic change from last weeks weather when I was pulling on jumpers.

I have decamped to a downstairs bedroom for the duration until the temperatures drop and had a full nights sleep. I will do whatever needs done this morning then either park myself under a shady tree or stay indoors as the house will be a cooler option.

Have the best day possible all.

Grandmabatty Wed 13-Aug-25 07:20:31

Madeleine I needed reading glasses after my cataract surgery. My distance vision is good but I can't see up close without specs.
Redcar thank you. He's quite an anxious wee boy.

ginny Wed 13-Aug-25 07:21:15

Good morning all from a warming N.Bucks. Yippee, I’m loving this weather.
A fairly quiet day for me. Tidy up, a stroll around the garden to deadhead and pull a few weeds. At 10 am I have an online art class.
After lunch I shall take my sketchbook out to a shady spot and try to sketch some people. Something I am eager to get better at.
Wishing everyone a good day especially those with illness and troubles.

GrannyGravy13 Wed 13-Aug-25 07:31:03

Good morning from S E Essex, another hot sunny glorious day is forecast.

We had the three youngest GC here yesterday, they spent all the time in the water, came out with fingers like little prunes. The Imp asked for a sleepover, so of course we obliged, he is still asleep so we are tippy toeing around the house.

I have the gym this morning and a manicure and pedicure this afternoon, hopefully have time to sit in the garden and enjoy this weather before we are in the doom and gloom of winter. (I don’t mind autumn if the sky’s are bright)

Enjoy your day, think inking of our poorly friends and those with worries 🙋‍♀️

brook2704 Wed 13-Aug-25 07:31:06

Good morning everyone from Inverness where we’re forecast a very warm 25°, that’s enough for me!
I’m off to the gym this morning and then I’ll enjoy a meander by the river walking back into town. Then the bus home sometime later this afternoon. I’ll probably pop into M&S food for some inspiration for dinner tonight
Enjoy seeing your family Ash and hope the ropey hotel doesn’t matter too much
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

GrannyGravy13 Wed 13-Aug-25 07:33:54

think inking 😱 oh no please don’t rush out and get tattooed

It should have read thinking

GrannyIvy Wed 13-Aug-25 07:34:03

Good morning from Cambridgeshire where we are forecast partly cloudy and 30 degrees.
Yesterday we had a lovely day on the Norfolk coast with DD2 and the little ones. They were fascinated to find jellyfish on the beach. Today I have housework, washing and preparing to go away tomorrow to the Suffolk coast for a few days.
Hope everyone has a good day

Susan56 Wed 13-Aug-25 07:37:19
