What would be said if the Duchess of Sussex had released the same?

Beans12 Tue 26-Aug-25 09:59:28

I think these video messages are so sickly, trite and patronising-and I'm no fan of hypocricy-anyone who enjoys shooting birds, and gets pleasure from killing for the sake of it, as she does, has no respect for nature, and no right to bleat on about "being kind" etc-double standards doesn't even begin to cover it.

Well with the hate that is thrown at her and her family, I am not surprised she feels she needs protection and that is where the dichotomy lies. Personally I feel the contradiction is that they are not protected but that is a different conversation.

Lathyrus3 Mon 18-Aug-25 19:04:07

You don’t see a contradiction in campaigning for one country to tighten up its gun laws on private individuals carrying guns.

Then demanding another country, that has strict gun laws, should relax them to enable the carrying of guns by private individuals?

To me the contradiction is in this obvious.

So, Lathyrus, if you were seriously in the sort of danger where people were likely to attack you just for your status, for political or terrorist reasons, are you saying that you would not want adequate protection which might mean someone carrying a gun? If the moral high ground is going to get you killed are you going to take that chance?

I'm not entirely sure that Meghan has ever spoken candidly about there views on hunting but in 2020 it was reported that she was against Harry taking part in them because she disliked them. I don't think, but I could be wrong, that he has taken part in them since then. As for her stance on guns in general, she supports calls for safer gun laws which we know from her letter in 2022 to the Moms Demand Action group.

But I wouldn’t be taking the moral high ground🤔

If I thought a gun was necessary for my safety Id accept a gun was necessary for other people’s safety. Rather than wanting a law that took from others what I consist is necessary for me.

Just interesting to see how people can espouse a principle for others but when it affects them, it is always “different”. And always puzzling when others cant see the contradiction.

So you don't think there might be room for some safer gun controls in the USA? That's what she is supporting; hardly the moral high ground. How very dare she in a country which counts school massacres, high rates of gun accidents and suicide by gun! But, of course, it's Meghan so nothing she says will be nuanced.

I believe they are estate workers so they will be tied cottages. I doubt they will be complaining about upgrades.

Usedtobeblonde Mon 18-Aug-25 18:02:53

William and Catherine are moving to a new home before Christmas.
This has been officially confirmed.
Two families have had to leave their homes as they are too near the property.
“ they have been rehomed on the Windsor estate to properties equal to or better than the ones they previously occupied”
Well that’s ok then.

It will probably have stag heads on the wall and tiger skin rugs.

Ridiculous!

Allira when it comes to William and Catherine nothing is too ridiculous, absurd or made up for vegansrock The inside of their current home has been seen and didn't display any of those features, but hey why let the truth get in the way of yet another dig?

I'm sure Louis will come into the kitchen wearing a tiger rug too. 😆

I don't think those items would be to Catherine's taste somehow.

Apparently, the family is moving into an 8 bedroom property on the Windsor Estate soon. I think it's called Forest Lodge. I wonder whether the decor will have a Nature theme too? The wallpaper in my hall has upright tress, and one of the bedrooms has birds.

If she said she heartily disapproved of shooting wildlife as a sport then I’m with her 100%

But clearly neither she nor Harry disapprove of guns, or of using them to kill people so there’s no moral highground to be gained there. And nothing to admire in that attitude either.

icanhandthemback Mon 18-Aug-25 09:44:22

The reason they say they can’t visit Britain is because their security people can’t have guns.

To shoot people with 🤔

Meghan dislikes shooting for sport which is a far cry from feeling the need to have security carrying guns for personal protection.

As usual, a way of jeering at a woman who many agree with regarding blood sports by twisting that belief because it doesn't fit the GN narrative about her.

Kamj Mon 18-Aug-25 07:51:30

Regardless of what people think Catherine portraits a wholesome figure, unfortunately the lies Meghan has spread has tarnished her portaital, sadly so imo as I feel she'd have been a real asset to the UK if she hadn't tried to destroy it with her continual lies!

Lathyrus3 Sun 17-Aug-25 22:52:01

Well , a wry smile then at people’s inconsistencies 😬

Anniebach Sun 17-Aug-25 22:49:48

Has Catherine been seen regularly at a shoot ?

Catherine's family live in Bucklebury in rural Berkshire. I believe that shooting game for sport is quite common there. Locally, The Vine and Craven Hunt still functions legally.

She was quite possibly brought up with country sports before she met William.

I read that Meghan is anti-guns and she made Harry get rid of his rifles. So whatever her perceived faults, at least has this in her favour.

Meghan is anti guns?

That doesn’t make sense.

The reason they say they can’t visit Britain is because their security people can’t have guns.

I think that's a figment of imagination.

She can’t be that anti - she married the man who bragged about killing during his army days…humans, not game!

Pantglas well said!

A grouse that ends up on a plate -v- a human being!

I do think there is some misinformation about shooting on here. William may have introduced George to shooting but do we actually have recent proof that he participates? It has been documented that Kate is a good shot but refused to allow her children to be blooded. Unless somebody tells me otherwise I think we can leave Charlotte and Louis out of the argument. We don’t know who George’s close friends are at school. They may already shoot, or they may not. It’s likely that field sports are a part of their lives at Anmer but we don’t know that. George will soon be of an age when he can decide for himself.

As for the Middletons…It’s doubtful Catherine grew up in a field sport environment. Carole and Michael had shooting and stalking lessons when they realised it might be part of their new life on the fringes of the RF but I don’t think anything came of it.

Also, rifles are only used for shooting large animals like deer (as they do at Balmoral) so Meghan may have persuaded Harry to get rid of his shotguns - referred to collectively as guns not rifles.
