What would be said if the Duchess of Sussex had released the same?

Parsley3 Thu 14-Aug-25 12:48:53

My thoughts too. An uplifting to-do list? Are we meant to be inspired?
The Princess of Wales has surprised us all with a new personal video, which she released across her official social media channels. The project is an ode to 'Mother Nature' and, in it, The Princess reveals an uplifting 'to-do list' for the summer.

The video opens with shots of fields, trees, bees, flowers and fruit picking. We see rain lashing against leaves, children running through the grass, dogs playing on the sand and people swimming in lakes. There are a range of moments showing people relaxing together, playing, dancing and enjoying each other's company.

It will get criticism but I see a young woman here who had the shock of her life with a cancer diagnosis. Forget being Royal, she is a wife and Mum. This video tells me what is uppermost in her thoughts after such a harrowing time.

People must be easily surprised as "Summer" is the follow up to "Spring" released in May. Prepare to be astounded when she produces "Autumn" in the autumn.

I should release my list of things to do this summer, it included sort understairs cupboard, and clean oven. Very uplifting.

Wow! crazy times alright.

If Meghan Markle had released a similar video I think she would have been at the centre of it in front of the camera.

There would been cries of "wokery" from GNs and others.

Well, seeing as H&M have upsticks to the USA, no longer ‘working royals’ I don’t feel her opinion counts for much.

I also think that the Wales’ feel this sort of video is the way forward, especially for the younger generation.

Whether us older ones see it like that, I’m not too sure.

Oh I missed the Spring video.

I agree, and nature has a healing effect, as does sometimes solitude , which is different to being lonely.

Anniebach Thu 14-Aug-25 13:48:56

Many recovering from the horrors of cancer or other life taking illness find much from nature, perhaps the Princess of
Wales is sharing her experience, many find comfort, joy, peace in nature.

She will not be making money from it like some

Magenta8 Thu 14-Aug-25 14:07:32

Whatever her reasons for making her videos I wish her a full recovery.

If Meghan had released the same then holes would have been picked all over it.
So I'm going to pick a hole in PoW's voice-over. Connect with nature would sound a lot better, rather than connect to nature which she says half a dozen times. Connect to is joining physically, like the tap to the hose. I think she means more having a closeness with nature, a bond or relationship and interacting with nature.

The sentiments are obviously heartfelt. I hope making the film brought her solace, and I too wish her a full recovery.

I wonder what are your thoughts Usedtobeblonde as you posed the question.

Anniebach Thu 14-Aug-25 16:06:03

She is still called Kate Middleton by some, nasty

What would be said if the Duchess of Sussex had released the same?

Meghan’s next series of AsEver, for which she gets handsomely paid by Netflix, is soon to be released so there is no need for her to release anything along the same lines as the Princess of Wales.

Netflix would never allow it anyway.

I agree.

Being out and enjoying the natural world after such a diagnosis and treatment can be so soothing, calming and reassuring.

There is so much horror and sadness in the world at the moment that a reminder of what is beautiful is good, especially as it must be difficult for a mother to shield her young children from what she and their father are going through - all in the spotlight, too.

Another unkind post - why?

Desdemona Thu 14-Aug-25 16:54:43

I haven't seen it, although I wish her all the best.

As time passes I have less time for the Royal Family, I feel the institution of Monarchy holds little relevance now (I know lots disagree and that is fine.)

eazybee Thu 14-Aug-25 16:59:58

Just watched it; pleasant and inoffensive.
Is there a problem?
