Flower bouquet as a gift, which flowers do you prefer and what colours?

I love all sorts of flowers, and am particularly keen on good scent. A good looking rose or sweet pea with no perfume, should be done under the trades description act according to me!! Of course being a Galanthophile and having over a hundred different snowdrops I of course love to have various kinds inside as well as outside. I have collected Davidson's cloud glass for some years and now is the time that it comes into its own with brown glass, purple green etc, and so this is the time to fill them with chrysantamums. My dad used to grow them to show, so the smell of them is a reminder of autumn arriving and dads flowers which on pain of death we must NOT bounce any balls nearby. I didnt care for the huge ones as although they were beautiful you couldnt make a flower arrangement with them. Loved all the little pompom dahlias and the small and medium chrysanths. Love my perfumed roses with the smaller ones also giving you such a variation in colour in the petals too. The ones I really dislike? Horrible (to me) alstromeria, no perfume and takes over a bed if you dont watch it. Wonderful flocks and stocks and of course a variety of honeysuckle. Oh there is always something to enjoy. to have a mix of flowers from the garden is lovely especially with a bit of lavendar or houneysuckle in it. Because I am a singer and usually very busy over christmas I am not bothered about having flowers around then but from january through february, must have pots of hyacinths to carry on after each other giving something to enjoy in pots for those months, Much prefer the pots to bouquets of flowers that have cost a lot to grow and have no perfume

Not keen on red roses. Love pink flowers, tulips and sweet peas.

White flowers are my preference, especially lilies, freesias, narcissi and hyacinths.
I strongly dislike gaudy mixed bunches and those Christmas ones with the added gold sprayed additions.
A pot of hyacinths is probably my very best choice, then I can plant them in the garden and enjoy them for several years to come.

The scent from hyacinths is wonderful.Sadly all the flowers I either give or receive have no scent at all.

I'd just be delighted and very grateful that anyone thought enough of me to give me flowers...

I don't like cut flowers, wish people didn't buy them for me. Don't know how to get that across without sounding ungrateful.

A small bunch of freesias for me please, I really love them. Please no lilies I can't abide the smell. I also dislike chrysanthemum.

I love pinks, soft blues a and white or cream, even apricot and russet colours in autumn.. Not particularly a fan of red roses apart from in the garden. Unfortunately, lilies and hyacinths make both myself and my husband and sneezeandwheeze so Unfortunately ifanyone bought methose I had to give them away.
No-one buys me flowers any more so I treat myself to a small bunch most weeks.

Red roses are the only roses I dislike.

Freesias for me -if given the choice but appreciate any flowers any time.

I didn’t know that peonies had a scent but the lighter colours apparently have a nicer smell than the darker ones-the darkest can be stinky. I just looked it up. 🙂

From flowers to……….vases.I used to only like flowers in clear glass vases, now I have changed and only like them in ceramic vases.I have raided charity shops for pretty ones as they don’t make ‘em like they used to.

Don’t get me started on vases and jugs for flowers, it’s one of my ‘things’, I’ve got a whole cupboard full of them, in all shapes, sizes and colours, and more, that won’t fit in the cupboard. My favourite are some old blue Bourne jugs which were my grandma’s, but I also like cut glass, and I’ve got a great one with an insert with holes in so it’s easy to arrange your flowers in, that came from my mother in law.

I’ve given up sending flowers as the last three bouquets I have sent and received have been awful with some dying the next day the amount of money they cost I expect better, and it leaves the recipients disappointed.

Love white flowers with a bit of greenery in a bouquet. Dislike loud, garish colours. Favourite would be a bunch of pom pom type white chrysanths, always try to get some for Christmas. Have stopped sending flowers as they are often such a disappointment and I've recv'd some really poor bouquets generally from M&S.

Aquilegias are my favourite, any colour, although a mixed bunch is divine.

Mine too and they last for absolutely ages.

Im another who doesnt like lillies but I do like roses . I tell people not to buy me flowers I prefer growing orchids in any colour .

Alstroemeria last for ages, so they're good for people who always like flowers in the house. I rarely get flowers but my favourites were when I left my second - last job -there's at least one florist in our city that uses only local flowers & these were from there - phlox & delphiniums & erigoniums & lots more, & they lasted as long as a bouquet of carnations & chrysants from overseas.
