Thank you so much for all your kind messages.
I was invited to say goodbye to my niece today. We set off with some trepidation but were so glad we went. She looked beautiful and so peaceful. My brother is naturally devastated and finding it hard to deal with so our job is to support him.

Marydoll I am so sorry that you had a fall and really hope you received some help from your GP.

Bellasnana Thu 21-Aug-25 15:43:08

Oh no Susan what a terrible tragedy you and your family are having to deal with. I am so so sorry. May your poor niece be at peace now.😞

Ashcombe your mum was born on my mum’s 3 rd birthday ☺️

Yes glammagran, dogs under a certain weight can indeed travel in the cabin of the plane. They must fit into a carrier that can fit under the seat in front.

DD1 always travels business class so has a lot of extra room for Bertie. He’s 13 now and very well behaved.

So sorry to hear the sad news from Susan; like the previous poster I had no time this morning to read the posts, and have only just now caught up. What heart ache for Susan's family.

And Marydoll too; I hope you are now recovering from your incident yesterday, and hopefully getting much needed medical help.

JamesandJon33 Thu 21-Aug-25 14:02:04

I am sorry but I was in such a rush this morning that I didn’t read any of the posts. That being so I missed some , Marydoll and Susan. For instance. I am thinking of you both

Jamie Thu 21-Aug-25 13:20:05

So sorry to hear your sad news Susan. Condolence to you and family.
Hope you have no more setbacks with your recovery as well.flowers

Grammaretto Thu 21-Aug-25 12:10:28

Oh no Marydoll. I had missed your post today. I hope you are OK. Sending loving thoughts and prayers.

Well done your DGD JamesandJon
We had our good news earlier in the month as the Scottish system is different.

JamesandJon33 Thu 21-Aug-25 11:13:45

Good morning everyone. Just had the marvellous news that GD2 has done extremely well in her GCEs. Tears of joy all around.
Hope all other ‘expectant’ GNs have had similar news.

Usedtobeblonde Thu 21-Aug-25 10:32:53

Good morning from Stockport.
The sun did break through later yesterday so this overcast morning may cheer up.
My friend was reasonably ok yesterday but said after one more visit overnight from her D and SiL she probably won’t see her family until Christmas and she really does think the sun shines out of them.
They are so successful in their fields that they are indispensable
at their work which is why they can’t spare the time for her.
I just keep very quiet.
I am expecting a call from the surgery Pharmacist today to discuss my meds after my blood tests last week.
I assume they were ok as I haven’t heard anything to the contrary.
I have a quiet day today apart from that and will go through some clutter in my bedroom, it needs it.
My H was the tidiest of people and I think I have rebelled slightly from his gentle criticism now he is no longer here to reproach me.
Such sad news from Susan, it seems so tragic to have no hope left at all.

Georgesgran Thu 21-Aug-25 10:19:38

Oops - my reference to her GP was for Marydoll!.

GrandmaC47 Thu 21-Aug-25 09:53:30

Sincere condolences Susan.
Not read all posts yet. I may be back.

glammagran Thu 21-Aug-25 09:48:57

Good morning from a somewhat cooler Wiltshire.

Susan56 I am most saddened to hear about your neice. My heartfelt condolences to you. With a hospital stay as well you have had a most trying week.

Marydoll I imagine you had a faint if you knocked your head. Please take it easy and I hope you get some long sought after answers soon.

Equanimitie your holiday sounds like it was amazing. I had to look up that town in Greenland on Google maps. There are some great photos of icebergs but also of a boy with a most unusual but rather nice hair design.

Bellasnana I hadn’t realised dogs could travel in the cabin of an aircraft. I hope you have a lovely time with your daughter.

Apart from our delicious lobster Thermidor and bottle of Nyetimber last night nothing much else going on till the weekend.

Have a good day everyone.

mamaa Thu 21-Aug-25 09:38:38

Good Morning all, sorry to read your sad news Susan and that you’ve been in hospital again. Also thinking of you too Marydoll hope you are feeling a little better soon after your collapse- and that your doctor now takes some notice of you.
Have the best day you can folks x

BlueSapphire Thu 21-Aug-25 09:19:30

Good morning everyone from a cloudy and cool Northampton, looks like staying like this all day.

Had a lovely day out in London yesterday, visiting the Houses of Parliament, where we were due to meet our MP, have a tour and then a meeting with him, re the shortage of doctors surgeries in our area. Unfortunately, he was otherwise detained, so sent three of his staff to greet us. They gave us a good tour, but were not able to facilitate the meeting. The journeys both ways were.hassle free thankfully. On arrival back in Northampton, my friend and I went to a local pub for a meal, so no cooking when we got home!

A coffee morning shortly with neighbours, (hopefully with gossip and news!), then a Sainsbury's delivery this afternoon will complete my day.

Wishing all a pleasant day.

Grandmadinosaur Thu 21-Aug-25 09:12:24

Good morning from East Yorkshire.

Susan I was sorry to read you’ve been back in hospital. I did notice you were missing. What a tragedy about your niece. Yes there are no words but thinking of you and her family at this sad time. 💐

Thinking of you too Marydoll time to stop gadding about?

Blossoming Thu 21-Aug-25 09:11:56

How shocking for you and your family Susan56 flowers

Your GP needs a rocket up his backside Marydoll. I hope you get a more positive response out of them today.

merlotgran Thu 21-Aug-25 09:10:56

Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny south coast.
I overslept so I’m in a rush. Must be the cooler nights because I slept more deeply than usual.
DD is picking me up at 10 to go to the tip with a few bits and pieces. We’ve both been decluttering. I’ll will also take a look in their shop because the allotment needs a new rake.
The garden center is just up the road so……
Hope everyone has the best possible day.

mum2three Thu 21-Aug-25 09:10:01

Good morning from Lancashire. Quite chilly here this morning but still no sign of rain. I've got used to wearing the minimum of clothing but have put on a cardigan today.
So sorry to hear Susan's sad news. So tragic when someone decides that life is not worth living
madeleine's post was interesting. I'm in the same position as regards books. I love being surrounded by books but I buy a lot of paperbacks from charity shops and then don't know what to do with them. This town lacks a second-hand book shop. Tesco takes them but I can't go in supermarkets and the book shop is not on the ground floor. If only they had a collection point by the door.

Georgesgran Thu 21-Aug-25 09:06:11

Good Morning from Durham, where it’s bright and sunny, following a couple of disappointingly cool, grey days.
Coffee this morning, then taking Little Dog back to DD2 and returning via Bank.

I won’t witter, just sending sincere condolences to Susan. a scenario for which there are no words.
I hope your useless GP gets his arse into gear after yesterday!! Take it easy 💐

Best wishes to all. X

Blossoming Thu 21-Aug-25 09:05:11

Good morning everyone from sunny Lancashire.

Yesterday’s visit to Lancashire Eye Centre went well, we have agreed that as the Botox is helping we will continue with it every 6 months. Cataract surgery is off the table for now as I am coping perfectly well and I no longer drive. I know many of you have had successful surgery but my eyes are already damaged and the surgery presents a risk of further damage.it will take a day or two for my vision to settle now.

Thinking of our poorly grans and those with troubles.

Wishing you all a good day, whatever you’re doing 🌹

brook2704 Thu 21-Aug-25 09:02:16

Lovely to see you back Ekwa what an interesting adventurous holiday you’ve had
So sorry to hear about yesterday Marydoll 💐
Safe journey home Holly and everyone else on the move today

Aldom Thu 21-Aug-25 08:57:21

Good morning everyone.

Marydol I hope you are feeling better today and that your GP will become supportive of you following your collapse. You must feel as if you are swimming against the tide much of the time.

Grammaretto Thu 21-Aug-25 08:54:25

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Much cooler today.

I was so sorry to read your news Susan. So hard for everyone concerned.

I will be making pots today for our open studios/arts trail.

My DB has asked to visit next month with his DD and family.

My DGS1 passed his driving test yesterday, what with his 4 As at advanced Higher, he's doing well except he has no idea what he will do yet. except leave home

Well done to your Iris, gMattie
She's a true star. I used to volunteer with RDA and was very impressed by the incredible resilience and ability witnessed such as the blind children doing dressage.

Hope all have a pleasant day.

GrannySomerset Thu 21-Aug-25 08:53:55

Good wishes to Susan and Marydoll who are both having a more than difficult time; life does seem to throw more at some people than they should ever have to cope with. Luckily all I have to deal with is admiring my newly painted dresser which looks wonderful and will need to brave the supermarket. Like Grandmattie I find that many people are away so that August is a bit long and empty but fortunately I have plenty to read.

Sar53 Thu 21-Aug-25 08:35:39

Good morning from my last day in Holland.
Condolences Susan on your sad news and I hope you are feeling better.
We are having a day out before my flight home tomorrow.
DH should be home either Sunday or Monday depending on tides, winds and weather.
I'm anxiosly waiting to hear from S re her exam results after her very tough year, my fingers are firmly crossed 🤞.
I hope today is a better one for you Marydoll.
I hope you all have a good day, best wishes to all xx

ginny Thu 21-Aug-25 08:30:15

Good morning. I’m a little late so have just skimmed through for now and will come back later.
I did notice posts from Susan and Marydoll . Sorry to hear both lots of news.
My Sister in Law went home yesterday after a couple of pleasant days.
My diabetic apppointment went well, all the numbers were good. Nurse was very pleased with my just over 2 stone weight loss. She did wonder if I had used injections, No way !
Jobs for today include tidying and cleaning all kitchen drawers , bed changing and garden pottering. Watercolour painting this afternoon.
Wishing all a good day and thinking of those who have worries and troubles.
