Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark but remains dry here in Brackley this morning.
Today , will be a nice quiet day of laundry and housework, after yesterdays coach trip to Bath.
I shall watch the Vuelta Tour of Spain cycle race on TV after lunch.
Health OK gaining weight.
Take Care,
Mick

Oh thank you why, why, why, you're right about Gransnet being very agreeable & open-minded. It really is a pleasure to interact on here; I look forward to it each day.
I went on to *^ddit & made a funny pithy comment about the differences between human courtship & plant pollination, as you do!
However someone actually complained & I was banned from the Horticultural forum. How was a funny, innocent observation banned yet all the malicious, toxic sexual tripe is merrily ignored!
Strange World Indeed! 🌎
Ps Ironically I am a trained Hort!

Ilovedogs22- Hope you are not scared for life! I once ventured onto Mumsnet and never again!!! Bloody hell!!! I thought I had had my head blown off! Take care. This site is really friendly and you will enjoy it.

Good Morning from the West Midlands. So glad to be here on Gransnet. I ventured just like Pinochio into the big, bad world of another social media site, wow!!
Wow again! It was full of hate, misogyny, bile & tripe! I felt grubby after visiting, Gosh the World is a scary place now!

My thoughts and sympathy are with FGT today at this difficult and sad time.flowers

Good morning from a very warm and sunny midlands.
Hugs to all suffering including FGT and Marydoll hugs. 🤗
Life can be wonderful and yet cruel at the same time.

I don't post often, but do read this thread most mornings. I just wanted to say how sorry I was to hear your very sad news Fgt. My Mum had the same cancer and it was heartbreaking watching her struggling to eat and swallow. It's brutal and so very hard for all involved. The Christie is an amazing hospital and I'm sure they will be doing everything they can to make your DH comfortable. Take care thanks

It is just ONE quilt, front and back…

A lovely sunny Good Morning from Co Armagh .
I’ve just finished my breakfast , taken my vit d and antibiotics, now trying to tidy up
Expecting my younger sister to visit , when my daughter goes on holiday I get unexpected visits from grandsons but sister always tells me she is coming
I think it’s all to check me out , I don’t mind and it will wear off 🤣
Thinking of all

Good morning everyone from a very bright and sunny 🌞 Northampton, a fine warm day ahead.

A lovely long day at Women's World Cup Rugby yesterday; I was at the ground at 10.30, the bars were all open, but I decided it was much too early even for me to have a cocktail or wine!

DD and her DH arrived at about 11.15 and we thought that was a suitable time to partake! DD had a Limoncello cocktail and I had some rose wine; DS-in-law was much put out to find that the usual Guiness was not on sale, especially as we were there for an Ireland match and he is Irish!

We watched two very good matches in glorious weather; our seats, although not our usual season ticket ones, were very good.
Shall be back there on Saturday to watch England play Samoa.

No plans to go anywhere today, but I am thinking of attacking the massively overgrown buddleia which had been waiting for the gardener - who has now given up on my garden.... I am sick of the sight of it from my kitchen window.
I am set to find a new gardener starting tomorrow, as I can no longer.cope with the garden on my own. Still feeling very badly let down.

Lots of weekend newspapers to catch up on.

Thinking of the FGTs as they face their devastating news.

Blossoming Mon 25-Aug-25 09:54:03

Good morning everyone from sunny Lancashire.

I haven’t been feeling too good lately so today will be a duvet day. I felt seriously unwell by the time we returned from our morning walk yesterday. I hate seeing the fear in MrB’s eyes and knowing that I am the cause. Of course this means that it’s blazing sunshine, despite the Bank Holiday.

Please take it easy Marydoll flowers

Thinking of our poorly grans and those with troubles.

Wishing you all a good day, whatever you’re doing 🌹

Usedtobeblonde Mon 25-Aug-25 09:38:43

FGT’s very sad update has indeed revived memories for many of us here.
I remember hearing someone in a radio broadcast saying the day you get the initial diagnosis is the very worst day.
I agree as life is never the same again.
All other news is just adding to that traumatic event.
I hope all of us can remember good times as well as bad ones.

GrandmaC47 Mon 25-Aug-25 09:33:27

Love the quilt, gMattie, and your animals, karma.
Weather is good in Co Durham so I’ll empty the washing basket. Other than that I’ve no plans. No change there.
Hope you feel better Marydoll, and Blossoming.
Thinking of the fgts 💐.

Good morning from a sunny NE.
Didn't settle down until about 2.30am, guts were playing up even though I barely ate yesterday.
DS and DIL arrived in the evening after their day out in Northumberland, quite tired after a long walk.
I had dinner ready when they arrived and I caught up with their news.
After dinner DS put his camera card into the TV and we had a slide show of their memorable week in Berlin. They also brought me several gifts, I always receive a tea towel, they have been away four times this year so I have quite a selection.
GDs had a great time at the festival, lots of videos on Instagram.
GD1 is taking her sister to London tomorrow, she has bought tickets for a musical, her birthday treat.
DD and SIL are both poorly after their trip to London for the Proms, she reckons they picked up a virus on Eurostar.
My thoughts are with FGT, I have been there and know how devastating it is.
Best wishes to Marydoll, hoping for some improvement for you.

Good morning, my earlier post seems to have been lost in the ether 🤷‍♀️

Thinking of the FGT’s

Beautiful sunny warm day here, I shall make the most of it and the peace and quiet before the builders arrive tomorrow 🙋‍♀️

Flippinheck Mon 25-Aug-25 08:45:24

Good morning from Cheshire where it promises to be another lovely day, currently warm with a light breeze. I am taking the opportunity to wash the cat’s doughnut beds and the living room curtains. Like Sallyforth Creamfields traffic makes some routes impractical so I won’t be going far today. Last night the loud thrum of music forced me to close my patio doors which I usually leave open until bedtime at this time of year.
I have some spare yarn so am knitting little jumpers which I will give to my local charity shop. It keeps me busy and I can listen to an audible book or watch TV while I knit. So, looking forward to a peaceful day.
Good wishes to all of you.

merlotgran Mon 25-Aug-25 08:38:01

Good morning all from the sunny south where there’s not a cloud in the sky. Long may it last.
More gardening today. Tesco delivery this afternoon.
Hope everyone has a good day. Thinking of FGT and all with worries. Look after yourselves.

Gingster Mon 25-Aug-25 08:37:08

Good morning all and another hot one is looming.

Today is DGD2’s 19th birthday and she’s going to London with her boyfriend. I do hope the trains are co operating as it’s BH.

Yesterday Dd and dgd6 came for dinner and a walk to the fields and park. Little pooch wore herself out chasing balls and gd.
She (dog) had a toilet accident in the night , which I trod in.
A good start to the day 😫🙄. Very unusual though. !

Have a relaxing day and enjoy the sunshine.

FGT 💐🙏.

GrannyIvy Mon 25-Aug-25 08:36:25

Good morning from Cambridgeshire where the sun is shining and forecast a happy 26 degrees today.

Yesterday was a lovely family day. We only manage to all get together around twice a year. We all enjoyed a roast dinner and back here for cake and more chat. The children played monopoly in the warm sunshine under the brolly on the patio and the adults chatted.

Today will be a quiet one at home for us as I don’t like Bank Holiday crowds and traffic. Will just potter, sit in the sun and BBQ later just the two of us. The quiet before the storm of our last childcare day tmrw before school starts again.

I was sad to read FGT’s news yesterday and my thoughts are with them and others on this thread for which this will bring sad memories. Also thinking of those who are struggling on with health issues. My neighbour (of some 30 + years) whom we call “Mr Fit” was unexpectedly taken ill a couple of days ago and has had major surgery and very poorly in hospital. All been such a shock that life does indeed change in a heartbeat.

Take care everyone, have the best day possible

ginny Mon 25-Aug-25 08:26:36

Good morning. The sun is up and we intend to make the most of it with an outing to Barnsdale Garden .Last went there about 15 years ago.
DD2 is coming with us so, we will have a meal out as well.
Thoughts are particularly with FGT and family and Marydoll and other poorly GN friends.
A good day wished for all.

kittylester Mon 25-Aug-25 08:18:01

Good morning all from a bright North Leicestershire.

DH worked hard yesterday constructing the new furniture from Ikea. The playroom is looking great. He will put up the lights today and then all we have left to do is cushions and lamps.

Sending love and best wishes to everyone who needs them and especially Soop, McSporran and the FGTS2s.

Grammaretto Mon 25-Aug-25 08:16:13

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders where it says its 10° but feels warmer.
A sunny day yesterday. My Helper and I tackled some declutteration in the morning and I made some hard decisions 😅
Pottery in the afternoon and good chats in the garden with my potential buyer and my potter pal.
Community cinema in the evening and a sad farewell to my Italian helper who had to return to Italy today.
I gave her a fairisle knitting book.

Is the quilt reversible gMattie? you are very skilled and someone will love the bright colours.

Karmalady, I adore your knitted animals.

Exercise class this morning.
I would love to go back to bed. I had a very poor sleep.

Dear FGT . Thinking of your family with that bad news.

Have a peaceful day everyone whatever you do or not do.

GrannySomerset Mon 25-Aug-25 08:13:20

Glorious morning but no plans for it apart from a friend visiting this afternoon. Compared with so many I have nothing to complain about, so I won’t. Hope today is shock free and goes as smoothly as possible for everyone.

Jaxjacky Mon 25-Aug-25 08:09:28

Morning, sunny in S Hants, high of 26 today, we have family here for a pulled pork lunch, my daughter is bringing a key lime pie.
Yesterday washing dried quickly, more tomatoes picked and watering, I’ll be pleased to see rain, quiz tonight.
Good you’re putting on weight Mick

EkwaNimitee Mon 25-Aug-25 08:01:16

Good morning Mick and everyone from warm, sunny Carlisle.

Yesterday morning was spent at the computer, getting up to date with admin and editing and sorting photos.
After lunch, I thought I'd better mow the small front lawn, which I did, then caught sight of the lavenders in the front border which had gone over. I not only clipped them over but had to give them a good pruning and while I was in pruning mode, other items too. So I spent much more time out there than I intended and got very hot and sweaty. I felt I could reward myself with cake. A tub of it is shut away in the garage freezer and even I can't normally be tempted to go out and retrieve it but the garage door was open because I was gardening....

Today, lots of vital little jobs to do, mostly admin, gardening will be confined to sitting in it....and maybe eating more cake, it is a holiday after all.

Have the best day you can everyone.

hollysteers Mon 25-Aug-25 07:59:09

Good morning from Sunnyside northwest coast. Glad you had a day out Mick and are gaining weight.
I have a wash out in the sunshine and will have a walk in the sand dunes. My right arm is aching (no lymph nodes) to join my aching back. I think my suitcase and then moving ladders when the cat was trapped in the loft have strained it…

Thinking of FGT and Himself 💐
