Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark but remains dry here in Brackley this morning.
Today , will be a nice quiet day of laundry and housework, after yesterdays coach trip to Bath.
I shall watch the Vuelta Tour of Spain cycle race on TV after lunch.
Health OK gaining weight.
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning Mick and anyone else awake. The sky is just beginning to lighten here in SWWales. Another dry day forecast but rain tomorrow hopefully.
Nothing much to do today , so a quiet day.
Enjoy the bank holiday everyone.
Thinking of you FGT

Good morning from a clear, dawning Bristol.
My heart is full of sorrow after learning FGT’s news. I have no words. All I can say is cling to each other, say all the things you want to say, love much…. The whole family is constantly in my heart and prayers. ❤️
Yesterday was quiet after church. I had a surprise call from DS. He seems to be settling in. He absolutely loves teaching, it’s the other things like being on duty over the weekend and not able to go out which he finds less exciting.
I picked another load of baby tomatoes from my three plants. They have been very generous and I’ve been able to give my neighbours a small handful most days. When asked what variety was, I caused much hilarity when replying “on3 red, one orange and on3 yellow”!
I have finished the horrible quilt and can’t wait to take it to the hospice shop!
Nothing happening today. The DD family is away. Same old, same old.

Good morning from Crewe where a vivid sunrise suggests a scorching Bank Holiday is likely.

I’m now staying with DD2, SIL, DGS2 and DGD. Our family meal at an Ego restaurant went well especially as dietary needs had to be accommodated but service was very slow despite it not being full. However, a pleasant surprise was the 30% reduction on the final bill, acknowledging the unacceptable length of time we’d waited. The food was fine …. when it arrived!

After the meal, we all relaxed at DD2's home and were treated to a picture show from DGS2's recent football tour of South Africa which included wonderful shots taken on safari.

Hope you enjoyed your trip to Bath, Mick.

Happy Bank Holiday. Thinking of those who are struggling especially the FGT’s.

I think the quilt is beautiful, grandMattie! Such a talent! 👍

Good morning - 33 & sunny in MS. Today I have a dental app't, & then a visit to a farm supplies shop. I need to buy 4 x 40 gallon troughs, b/c the 1st of my Fall bulb shipments is arriving this week, but right now there are no "beds" ready for them to go into.
I really hope everyone has a little bit of happiness today.

Usedtobeblonde Mon 25-Aug-25 06:14:54

Good morning from Stockport.
I hope it isn’t the 225th Mick or I have slept through some Calendar changes which will take some getting used to.
A very warm day yesterday and forecast to be hot today.
It doesn’t suit me at all now so will stay indoors and keep cool.
Make the best of today as you can.

Good morning from s somerset, very hot and sunny by lunchtime, windy all day

I am tired, woke up to watch tracking of my dd in the early hours when she finished. I have never seen anything so grueling. I dare not think of the physical mess she will be in but she will be euphoric to have finished. They have two medics en route and the runners need a proven record. Honestly? I hope she never does another one of these

Pig is finished and the photo is of the 3 keepsake `toys` for my AC

I am having a simple day today, cycling to the allotment later this morning for a lovely 2 hours of moving, bending, lifting, walking. I did remove my raspberries at home yesterday, a fair bit of exercise involved in that. I had watered that ground with several gallons a couple of days ago but it was still like hard -packed concrete and I had to use my gorilla bar

Knitting for the rest of today, I started gansey after making another 3 swatches and finally got the perfect gauge

Have a good day

Good morning from south Glos, clear pale blue skies and a very warm day forecast. Please let it rain soon 🙏
I did a couple of hours gardening yesterday, tidying and weeding and then gave one small border a thorough soaking from the water butt.
I’m off to do some work at the school garden this morning, a change of scenery and a new friend. I’ll be back before it’s too warm to do the usual chores etc.
Best wishes for you all 🌹

Good morning from Glasgow. We have a beautiful pink sunrise and the forecast is for a high of 24deg.

I cleared out the garden shed of so many tools and bits and pieces I know won’t be used again. Also a few bits in the garage all ready to be collected once I have booked a pick up today.
It was very productive and just what I needed to lift the low mood I felt since Saturday. A small Waitrose visit and B&Q to buy more paint today.
FGT💐

Best wishes to all for a pleasant day.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. It promises to be a hot, sunny South Yorkshire day. Yesterday afternoon bucked the forecast and turned out to be similarly hot and sunny for our neighbours’ garden party which was in fact a surprise party for one of our number who is 80 very shortly but will be away then. It was very jolly. Today DS and DiL are braving the Bank Holiday traffic to come down from York to spend the day with me. I shall cook a roast dinner rather than eat out today and we’ll have a walk in the lanes before they go home.
Have the best day you can, folks.

glammagran Mon 25-Aug-25 06:40:07

Good morning from what promises to be a hot day, maybe the last of the summer.

GD3 had her 7th birthday party with just family members from both sides, about 20 in total. All 3 of my children and all the GCs in one place which doesn’t happen very often. We had a BBQ and cake and we all had a lovely time. Next week she will have another party with her friends.

Will spend today making the most of the lovely weather before rain finally returns. Tomorrow will be the last day of looking after the youngest GCs over the summer holidays. Phew!

Have a good bank holiday everyone.

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 12° with clear skies. A warm day is forecast. GrandMattie I like your quilt! Peli my local garden centre has lots of bulbs . I really should get mine although the squirrels will eat a lot of them. Ashcombe I'm pleased your meal was nice despite the waiting time.
Yesterday I had lots achieved early on. Hoovering, cleaning and ironing as well as putting away clothes. Ds arrived at half ten with assorted goodies. There's a fabulous baker in Stirling and he brought pistachio cinnamon buns from there. He then did all the jobs I couldn't manage effortlessly and we sat at chatted until dd arrived with the boys. Chaos ensued. Dgs2 gas the loudest voice I've ever heard in a small person, particularly when he's excited. They both wanted food, as is usual at my house then dgs2 spilled a nearly full can of diet coke which DD had left on my bookcase. She was mortified and dgs2 was upset but it was all sorted. They didn't stay too long and took ds with them to drop off at the station. Ds also took books I had offered him and will take more the next time he's over plus some family photos.
The rest of the day was spend polishing furniture and thinking about where I'll put paintings.
Today is an easy start for me. Dd is on holiday so has the boys which means no childcare for me. I'm going to hang a couple of paintings and do a bit weeding. Then I'm meeting friends for lunch. It will be a long affair as we have some catching up to do. Whatever your plans are, I hope you have a good day.

Good morning from South Lanarkshire where I think a warm day is ahead.

We have had GDD2 staying so DH will take her to school this morning. I’ve a long overdue haircut booked for later today.

The photo is not mine as my phone camera doesn’t do justice to the colours but this is one of the weekend balloon flights in our town.

Thinking of the FGTs. thanks

Wishing everyone the best day possible especially those with troubles.

Ladyleftfieldlover Mon 25-Aug-25 06:52:03

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. It’s going to be a beautiful day.

It has been lovely having younger son staying for a few days. He is going back to London today. After I’ve dropped him at the station I will do the usual Waitrose shop. Our cleaner is coming today - although it’s a Bank Holiday.

OH has lots to do with his bees over the next few days. There is a lot of honey to be extracted and he will collect a special device for doing so today.

Have a good day.

I’m thinking especially of the FGT2S today after their recent devastating news. I believe that no one has to bear more than they can cope with and FGT2 and her beloved OH will know this.

Good morning from a sunny W Kent. Nothing planned for today so will probably do some tidying and then sit in the garden. Glad various outings and visits have been enjoyed. I also like the quilt gM
Best wishes

Good morning everyone from Inverness where the sun is just up and it promises to be a warm sunny day
Well done to your DD Karma what an achievement
Sounds like a good day with the family yesterday grandmabatty - enjoy your day off today!
I’ve an early start today with a volunteering session all morning followed by lunch. After that I’ll meander back and get the bus home.
So sorry to read FGTs latest news yesterday
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Allsorts Mon 25-Aug-25 07:03:31

Good morning from the Midlands, bright start to the day and it's going to be very hot, due to change tomorrow. No been on
For two weeks do missed the news.
Quiet day, always are Bank Holidays but plenty to do.
Have a good day everyone.

Bellasnana Mon 25-Aug-25 07:06:37

Good morning from Malta where it’s already 26°C rising to 36°C later.

I came home from Mass yesterday to find DD3 and the boys sitting having toast for breakfast. Lovely surprise although it’s only because DD1 is here that I’m receiving all these extra visits!

Tomorrow both DDs are off to Budapest until Thursday so I’m in charge of boys and dog which will be a challenge.

Both your quilts are beautiful grandMattie, you have such talent as do you karma with your lovely knitted toys.

I sat up until 3 am watching tennis, needn’t have bothered really but I prefer to watch it as it happens rather than on catch up. I shall be up again tonight to watch the lovely Alcaraz but I think I’ll need an afternoon nap if I’m to be up at 2.30am and then have to face a day of childcare.😴

Have the best day you can everyone.☀️

Good morning from Shropshire where the sun is already shining.

I had a phone call from the home yesterday to say mum had gone over on her ankle. An ambulance was called. She has broken her ankle and at 92 has her first plaster cast🤦🏼‍♀️I haven’t seen her since 30th July the day before I was taken ill but hope to go later this week all being well🙏🏻

No plans today. We have DD’s little dog but will wait until his evening to walk her.

Beautiful quilt and love the little animals karma.

I hope Marydoll is feeling better.

My thoughts are with the FGT’s and family after hearing their devastating news.Sending love and strength💐

Wishing everyone the best day possible🦩🌻

Rarely post on this thread, but just to say thinking of FGT.

Her anguish at the news about her DH puts all our trivial anxieties and frets into perspective.

Ladyleftfieldlover Mon 25-Aug-25 07:11:47

I like the quilts too! The knitted animals are also beautiful.

Redcar Mon 25-Aug-25 07:21:05

Good morning from mid Essex, where it’s a lovely sunny morning with a warm day forecast. Yesterday was warm but cloudy. I went for my usual walk which took a while as I met up with my usual dog walking friends and we sat and talked. After than I pottered about in the house and garden, but nothing much to show for my efforts. I had intended to cut down the last of the hollyhocks until I realised that it was acting as a support for three of the tomato plants!

Nothing planned for the day, family are either busy or away so I doubt I’ll see anyone. I’ll continue with tidying house and garden.

Thinking of those with sadness and anxieties in their lives, especially the fgts.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Sallyforth Mon 25-Aug-25 07:21:45

Good morning Mick and everyone from a beautiful morning in Cheshire. Travel was much restricted to where I would have liked to go yesterday by Creamfields' traffic, so I'm off to a favourite farm shop this morning. I think they'll just be clearing the sites today.

I shall sweep - yes, sweep the garden today. I have paths which need clearing of leaves and petals before the rain comes. The trees are beginning to look autumnal and I have nuts on the almond tree.

I plan to enjoy every moment of the beautiful day. Enjoy your day whatever you have planned. Kind wishes to those with worries. flowers

Good morning from a bright and sunny Black Country.

Off to catch a train this morning to Euston. We are going to see Evita at The London Palladium tonight. Then stay overnight at a Hotel and travel back tomorrow afternoon.

Seems like it is going to be hot today, so will be wearing summer clothes, but apparently it could be raining in London tomorrow morning, which is much needed.

FGT's have been much on my mind. Sending love to the family.

Hoping Marydoll is feeling much better.
