Good Morning Saturday 30th August 2025

Good morning all from a bright and sunny Suffolk coast.
I think we’ll miss the rain here.
Yesterday we had a few downpours but by afternoon the rain had cleared and we spent time in the garden, weeding and pottering. Dh did very well dumping barrow loads of weeds and brambles on to the compost heap.

We also shopped and Dh pushed the trolley. First time in 5 months since hes been able to do that. 👍.

By early evening we were ready for our G and T on the bank. It’s my favourite place to sit and it was a glorious evening.

Youngest DGD has gone to Southampton for the weekend to spend with her sister . They’re both so excited. Yesterday I got photos of them in a Wizard cafe making potions and spells. Amazing the things on offer these days.

Have a lovely time in Copenhagen Brook. A lovely city.
Well done with technical difficulties Roses and Cornergran. I dread having to change anything.😬.

Good morning from a sunny NE and a pleasant temperature.
Yesterday I got three loads of washing done, dried and ironed. Just the towels to fold and put away this morning when I take them off the airer.
DD sent photos of SIL'S birthday outing in Champagne region,the vendange is in full swing.
A friend from the Lakes, where we had a second home, rang and was full of woe again. My DH used to run the management company for where we lived. It has gone down the drain since he died and she keeps reminding me how good a job he did. Nice of her to compliment him but leaves me sad for the rest of the day.
DS and GD2 are going to visit this afternoon, I haven't seen her for a month. Looking forward to her playing the piano.

Good morning from Shropshire.Sunshine and showers forecast again although yesterday we just had the sunshine.

We are going to see mum today then plan to go to Chester Cathedral on the way home as there is a model railway exhibition DH wants to see.I will take my book!

Just to say that the golf ball to which Mick refers is at RAF Croughton, near Brackley, where Mick lives.
The golf ball is a large radar-like dome which houses communication hardware, now outdated.
All US bases are dismantling these golf balls between August and December, 25.

Morning, it’s bright and dry for now in S Hants, washing will be on tout de suite.
Trip to the pharmacy next, their internet was down yesterday so big queues, hope it’s sorted. My dental chat yesterday produced a plan of action, I’d need to win the lottery for implants so plan b is in place.
The tomatoes are coming to their end but spinach is flourishing, loving the rain.
A lively pub last night, pay day for many.

Good morning from a sunny Suffolk after very little rain yesterday although it was torrential at times in Norwich.

The castle which houses Norfolk’s main museum has been wonderfully restored and it was very busy yesterday. It is very child friendly with masses of activities for children to do like dressing up,trying on armour and following trails. There are permanent exhibitions of paintings from the Norwich school and those galleries were more or less empty yesterday.

Today will be a day of catching up,especially with ironing,not my favourite by a long chalk.

I was sorry Merlotgran to read your sad news about Peggy. We have had Jack Russells and one Parson over the years and I know how much their presence is missed when they are no longer with us.

Hope all have a good day especially those with health or other worries.

Good morning from a bright, for now Black Country, as rain is predicted for later.

The family are over to Brothers house today for a celebration of his 70th yesterday. They planned a BBQ but I think that will be changed to buffet in the house. Luckily they have a rather large house. He asked for donations to Shelter in lieu of a present which I have done. I did send him a card which I bought from Amazon, which has a bar code where you register and it tells you where and what type of tree has been planted in your name.

I found a few photo's of when Brother and I were little to send to him. I have posted one probably from late 50's early 60's.

So pleased he bluetooth issue has been sorted, as it is a real boon when making or receiving a call.

Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow, where it is 12°C, with rain expected.

I don't have much to report, I never left the house yesterday, just pottered about. The fatigue was overwhelming,
DH is monitoring my every move and rightly so, I cannot be trusted.
However, I took a leaf out of your book, Karma and had a cull of my sewing hampers., I had a cornucopia of cheap thread, which has accumulated over the years and has no function, other than jamming my sewing machine. Time for it to go. Only Gütermann from now on.
When I was in JL the other day, I could not believe how low their stock of threads was.
I have taken to buying boxes of mixed colours threads online, instead..
Yesterday, a box of twenty arrived, at a cost of £25, over half the price of JL.
My next stage is to clear out my craft room of card making materials and gadgets. Some items will go to DIL2 and the rest to Dollie's school.
However, I cannot bear to cull my jewellery making stash and tools. That is a step too far.

Today, we have been invited to DS1's for a barbecue lunch. Given the weather forecast, I don't think that will happen. I suspect it will be an indoor barbecue,.
I'm looking forward to seeing my wee Dollie. She is quite unsettled at the moment. It is tough being nine, going on ten year 's old. 😪

I haven't driven for over a week and am going to drive to Lidl, which is five minutes away to buy flowers for DIL.
I am under strict instructions to do no shopping. I have had a serious wake up call and feel quite vulnerable and old, so am happy to oblige.😉.
One of my clinicians, who was quizzing me about my emotional and mental wellbeing, said, You are not old, just very unwell.

Please keep our lovely Blossoming in your thoughts and prayers, she is not to well at the moment.
I hope your daughter makes a speedy recovery, Kitty.

Good morning from Sunnyside sandhills northwest coast.
Good day in the city yesterday enjoying a light/music show lying on beanbags and watching it happening all around us.
My friend had a broken tooth and my first choice for a light lunch had no soup, so off to find another venue. His macular degeneration etc. has slowed him down and I’m conscious of him being careful as he walks about.

I bought a new floaty skirt I don’t need and two books I don’t need from a lovely second hand book shop we regularly frequent. Very interesting chat with the elderly owner about authors once so popular and now completely forgotten. I asked if he had a book by Francis Brett Young, a favourite of mine and he said he hadn’t been asked for one of his novels in twenty five years…

My sister arrives later from London and easy salmon fillets are on the menu.

I've just picked the remains of the sweet peas to decorate the tables in the Town Hall. There's a street fair and an arts trail starting today too.

Ah wonderful wonderful Copenhagen brook ! I hope you have a great time. A boat trip is essential and plenty of Danish pastries naturally My brother lives there and is coming here for a long weekend in a few weeks time.

Good morning everyone from the south coast where we have had some heavy rain but the sun is now breaking through.
Thank you to those who posted kind messages about Peggy yesterday. The house seems very empty now and I’m having to get used to some changes in routine.
I didn’t know where we were going when DD picked me up yesterday morning and I wasn’t expecting IKEA!! It was fun and I found some chair seat pads for the garden room which are perfect!
I haven’t been to that part of Southampton for many years and it was strange driving past the church where my mother’s side of the family were all married, funerals etc. I was christened there. It’s all so different from when we used to meet my grandpa in the dock returning home from a trip on the Andes. I wonder what he’d make of the three huge cruise ships which were alongside and no doubt the reason for the very heavy traffic.
We took a detour on the way home for a late lunch at Wagamamas. Yummy as usual.
I will now read all this morning’s posts properly. Hope everyone has a good day.

redcar, yes it is.
Some repairs like missing tiles on the roof since last December are more important than my night storage heater which doesn’t hold heat, but that sort of thing needs looking at too.
Then there is the problem of the cleaner, for example. He is paid for 2 hours a week. If he “manages” one hour, he is overworked. He doesn’t get rid of cobwebs in the public areas, doesn’t clean windows indoors in same public areas, etc. We are at a loss as to who to turn to.
In April, we sent a complaint to the CEO listing things needing doing. The first month was a flurry of action. Since then? Ha!

madeleine i can definitely sympathise with your feelings of frustration when everything goes pear shaped and you can’t think of a solution! I try to think the way that my DH thought, and sometimes that works. He often had some very “interesting” ways of solving problems! I hope you manage to find someone to take the dresser away for you and also hope you find the key to the yellow peril soon!

Good Morning from a bright, sunny, warm Durham. Other than a shower on Thursday afternoon, we seem to have missed out on the rain.
Yesterday was hectic with both DGSs at Soft Play, followed by a trip to the Lego shop. I got home just before 8, then walked Little Dog before it got dark.
I have had a busy week, so I’m hoping today’s an empty - maybe just a few bits in Tesco, some ironing and a dog walk.

I am not feeling the full picnic. My thumb throbs most of the time and I just feel miserable. I am having a cortisone injection on Tuesday so I hope that does the trick.

We were in a restaurant last night when there was a storm of biblical proportions, the main road turned into a lake within a couple of minutes, it continued for half an hour, then all cleared up apart from the water on the roads. Very much like a tropical storm.

Have already been to local butchers and shops, washing machine is whirring away.

Day 5 of building work, they are not working this weekend.

GM the management company would drive me bonkers, their dereliction of duty is shocking

It is not difficult to set things up to run your own management company and you have a legal right to do so. Once set up then management is in resident hands and you can employ any company you like to actually run things. You can also sack them

You do need a few willing people though and most tend to hide when there is `work` to do. I have been part of a management company as secretary and chairman. My dh was part of a small group that set up another company in a block of 40 leasehold residences. It is all about being in control

Grandmabatty I know exactly where that Kinross giant golf ball is, my bil lived in Kinross for many years. Aldom we’ve quite crowd of these “Golf Balls” not far from me, on a large US listening station/base in North Yorkshire, but I haven heard of any dismantling here.

Thankyou all for your help and concern. I even thought that the post hadnt gone on as it suddenly disappeared so it felt like the last straw so just gave up and didnt continue. I hadnt realized it had gone through, and just felt even more annoyed and gave up and went out.

So now about 4pm, and am on a more even keel, and sorry to have been such a moaner today, but it just got to the "nth ""degree! Anyway after a struggle managed to get myself showered , dressed and ignoring the mess set off to the little village to the stalls against the walls. A very good decision , as the morning was bright, not a lot of traffic, and I always feel more comfortable driving. My seat is fine and I am a competent driver, so with radio 3 to accompany me I arrived there in a much better frame of mind. There were just 4 stalls against the church walls, but it has been ages since I went to that village, so pleasant to visit anyway. As I am diabetic , I had to regretfully ignore the lovely cakes and jam for sale, but had much more fun on the other two stalls. I always say I am a woman of champagne taste and beer money! So for the princely sum of £1 I bought a silk eye mask . I tried it on and it will be great for on a plane or trying to keep the light away as it felt so smooth and a little treat that I think will be of good use to me. But of course to my great pleasure the stall that I like best was a book stall and when I asked what the prices were she said any donation. So I ended up with 6 books and asked if £5 was fair enough and she said more than generous so we were both very happy, and as I told her it will help more charities, as I read them all myself and may keep one if I particularly enjoy it and then pass the others on to another charity. I like the idea of books cheering life for people and helping at the same time.So I have come home in a better frame of mind and rather ashamed of my outburst this morning. However I do know that we are a group and here for each other for good times and bad, and it did help a lot to be able to be able to tell someone about it and not just rant away to myself!! So thanks for suggestions, and I am giving myself the rest of today off and will organise some dinner and then tomorrow , hopefully will be ready to get going and think of new ideas. idont know if anyone rereads the posts later in the day. I tend to read them first thing in the morning, but thank you all again for your support , and it is good to know that amongst us we will always have someone with an idea or suggestion on any subject that turns up. So now I am about to make a coffee, check for the key in some of the books and enjoy not having to dash out to anywhere. Here the weather has turned very grey and very windy so we may get a downpour sometime when the wind dies down. fingers crossed for some rain her but more for the rain to pour down still on the moors where the big fire has been

You weren't moaning Madeleine. Just expressing your feelings. I think the last straw was the charity not able to take the dresser. Several other charities do take furniture, so I'd have a Google and find a few to contact if I were you. Otherwise you can probably find a man with a van who would bring a mate to help move it. You'd have to pay for that of course.
I hope you find someone to help you as now you have emptied it it's a bit of a nuisance I guess.
