I can understand why some might buy gifts in the sales that they know will be suitable as Christmas presents but our GC are the only ones we buy for and they never really know what they’d like for Christmas anyway until closer to the time.

I have no relatives now, and Christmas is easy for me. I exchange zilch with friends, and because of the cost of postage, my 45+ cards have been whittled down to under 10, and it is stating what has gone on throughout the year

I spend the day by myself so I can have a boiled egg if I so wish.

TV could be better!

Not this early, I don’t, but understand why people who buy lots and lots of presents for everyone might start early.
We stopped buying for most family (siblings and their off spring) years ago - mutually agreed, and never have for friends. Now only buy for each other, and get these as and when.
It might seem mean to some, but it got to a stage when siblings didn’t need anything, their children grew up and started their own families and so, due to a mix of expense and not knowing what to buy, we all decided to stop. (Having said that, I do send my sister some flowers, usually).
It really has got out of hand in some respects, I feel, but of course realise that others love buying gifts.

That should read because they often change their minds!

I buy all year for the adults whenever I see something I love and that I think they'll like. I do the shopping for the grandkids as late as possible because they don't change their mind.

I usually start in July/August

Makes life much simpler!

I too often buy gifts for Christmas in the sales and try and keep them together in one place, so I know where they are. Otherwise definitely start in September/October to avoid a last minute rush.

I must be getting old because for the first time in my life I have done some Christmas shopping already and plan to buy my Christmas cards soon too!

It is a whole new world for me but I'm trying to avoid the last minute craziness now...hoping not to be exhausted by the time Christmas Eve comes!

Sensible in my opinion, if things are a rush later on.

I usually start shopping in September to spread the cost but still always rushing around at the last minute. I’m not a fan of Christmas anymore tho tbh it brings with it certain difficulties.

🤔

Is it ever "too early" to shop for Christmas? My daughter does it in the mid-
summer sales.
