On the way here she booked assistance on the 3 hour train, but had a friend to help her on so didnt use the assistance when she got on the train. Because she hadnt used that part of the assistance they cancelled the assistance at her destination. Her mistake of course but she didnt realise. She is wiser now.

Skydancer you are right if you book for help they are normally very helpful

I use trains regularly. I often see staff helping people. Last week the guard helped a lady get her luggage off the train. I always think how helpful the staff are. I think you only have to ask at the departure station and the station where the person gets off will also be informed.

Yes I will try Universal Aunts...they have been going for decades.
She has a disabled persons rail card. I can accompany her to euston and in better times personally without the carer commitments I have, I would accompany her all the way.

My worries are that the train is delayed or held up and a change of trains and platforms required....which has happened to me when visiting her in the past.

You can also get assistance to help you on and off the train (and get you to the platform) for nothing. You just ask when you buy your ticket.

There are lots of agencys and private carer on IOW Look in your area for care providers in the community. I used to be self employed care in the community and use to get work through the local council. Where do you live?

I don’t know about an agency but came on to ask if your daughter has a Disabled Person’s railcard. This not only entitles her to 1/3 off the fare but also a companion as a carer.
